When it comes to plant-based active

ingredients there are huge differences in quality.

The weather, or the growing and harvesting

conditions are all factors that can influence the

quality. The level of active substances in asparagus

powder or frankincense extract, for example, varies

widely from one producer to another. RINGANA

uses standardised raw materials. This means that

the main active substance in a raw material must

be of an invariably high standard.

When we make our RINGANA Serums, the

active substances are enveloped (liposomes or

phytosomes) so that they can penetrate deeper into

the skin and work exactly where they should. The

concept is similar for our supplements: if curcuma is

encapsulated, this means greater bio-availability for

the organism. The result: the active ingredients reach

those places where the body can best utilise them.

RINGANA means fresh skin care that keep for

only a few weeks. This is a great advantage because,

owing to their limited shelf life, RINGANA can also

deploy extremely effective but highly perishable

We’re exceeding

What is special about fresh products

from RINGANA?

There are no limits imposed on

our researchers’ creativity – either in terms

of their cost calculations or the raw materials

they choose. RINGANA not only uses

perfectly-dosed, highly effective active

substances – we also ensure that they are

perfectly coordinated with each other.

This creates synergy effects that produce

the best possible results. When we’re doing

our calculations, we don’t consider the

potential costs. Our sole aim is to make

a high-end product.

Why doesn’t RINGANA carry out

any market research tests?

Because this would limit our creativity.

If you ask consumers on the street what they

expect from their cream, you will always get

the same, predictable answers: they should

smell good, be pleasant to apply, be absorb-

ed quickly. The desired product is pure

mainstream – at the expense of effect. And

for us, the effect is paramount. When we

manufacture a product, we think beyond

existing ideas. If Apple had asked people

what their ideal telephone was, nobody

would ever have thought of the iPhone.

Does this philosophy demand courage?

Absolutely. We are constantly exceeding

limits, and we don’t make any compromises.

Let’s take the PACK balancing for example.

It has a very intensive flavour that isn’t to

everybody’s taste. Naturally, we could have

given it a more “palatable” formulation.

But the end result would not have been

so effective and simply wouldn’t have met

the high standards we set ourselves.

What is RINGANA’s greatest challenge?

The question of how we can achieve

the very best performance for our products.

Formulations cannot be enriched infinitely

with active substances because at some stage

this affects the texture. When it comes to the

concentration of active ingredients, we always

go to the absolute limit. If that isn’t possible,

we develop suitable supplementary products.

constantly on the hunt for the strongest

plant power that nature has to offer, using it

to develop highly effective care solutions.

Dryness over many months, heat, temperatures below freezing, or a

high concentration of salt. Extreme environmental conditions force plants

to develop stress protection substances in their battle for survival. These

substances also protect the skin. RINGANA for example uses ectoin and

glycoin, active substances from resurrection (poikilohydric) plants that

have a hydrating and stabilising effect on the skin.

Instead of microplastic, RINGANA uses bamboo, pomegranate and loofah

as natural exfoliating grains. They are easily biodegradable, and are obtained

of using bud extracts because these young plant shoots contain many cells

that resemble human stem cells. These “plant-based stem cells” have great

Oils are some of nature’s most precious treasures. RINGANA uses

2 \ How do I protect dry skin?What is known as a hydrolipid film

covers our skin like a defensive sheath,

protecting it from drying out – or at

least it does usually – because with dry

skin, this natural protective film is

porous. The best counter-strategy is

nourishing lipids. They are important

for dry skin, particularly in winter

because once the skin barrier is upset,

moisture is no longer absorbed into

the skin but evaporates outwards. It’s

like a swimming pool with a crack in

the wall. You can fill it up with water

as often as you like, but the water will

always leak away. Applying lipids

boosts the skin’s own intercellular

substance and thus also the repair

of the “pool wall”.

Cream Concentrates 3 and 4

are water-in-oil emulsions that

strengthen the skin’s own lipid

layer. The Structural Lipids are

applied as a booster to extra-

dry areas of the skin.

3 \ Can I over-pamper my skin with creams?There is a stubborn belief in the myth

about lazy skin that becomes entirely

dependent on rich creams and is ulti-

mately unable to produce any oil of its

own – but it’s not true. What really

happens is that the skin changes with

increasing age. The connective tissue’s

ability to bind water is reduced, skin

density and sebum production decline,

the skin regenerates slower and becomes

dryer. Reason enough to provide it with

more care from outside.

1 \ How should I look after my skin in winter?Bone-chilling cold outside, dry heating

air indoors. Every day our sensitive skin

has to balance out numerous temperature

fluctuations. Both heating air and damp

cold rob the skin of the hydration it

urgently needs. And another thing: when

it’s cold, the skin’s own sebum glands

only work slowly. The skin therefore loses

the protective film of oil that is so

essential at this time of year.


Do the same as you would for your winter

clothing. Protect your skin with at least three

layers. The best solution is the RINGANA

combination of a suitable Serum plus the

RINGANA ADD that’s right for you, topped

off with a Cream Concentrate for your skin

5 \ Does drinking a lot help dry skin?Drink three litres of water and be

verybody’s talking about oil

pulling, but what is it exactly?

Oil pulling is really big with stars

and beauty bloggers. However, it is no

new-fangled trend but rather a longstanding

tradition. Rinsing the oral cavity with sesame

oil has been part of Ayurvedic medicine for

millennia. In Russia and Ukraine too, people

often rinse and gargle with sunflower oil

before brushing their teeth. Oil pulling is

said to bind harmful germs, thus preventing

bleeding gums and gum disease.

What oil is used?

At the moment, coconut oil is very

popular. What is far more effective, how-

ever, is Tooth Oil, which was also created

out of the oil pulling tradition but, unlike

“normal” vegetable oils, can actually replace

toothpaste altogether. With its Tooth Oil,

RINGANA has created a completely natural

dental care product. It contains natural

cleaning grains made of silica, and removes

plaque in an exceptionally gentle way.

RINGANA was founded because Andreas Wilfinger was dissatisfied with

the toothpaste available in shops. Many products contain dubious active

ingredients such as microplastic, formaldehyde releasers, preservatives,

triclosan and many others. Tooth Oil is a natural alternative with additional

benefits because not only the teeth but the entire oral cavity is purged of

harmful bacteria. This boosts the body’s defences and, thanks to the detox

effect, also results in pure skin.

Shake the bottle, open it, and then

rinse your mouth with a teaspoon of the

oil. The best way to spread the oil around

your mouth is by using your tongue. You

should move the oil around your mouth in

(by gargling gently) your pharynx.

What should beginners bear in mind?

Less is more. Start with a splash of

Tooth Oil because newcomers in particu-

lar need to get used to the oily taste first.

Also, because the salivary glands are

stimulated, the quantity of oily fluid being

moved increases after just a few minutes.

How long does oil pulling take?

Professionals rinse their mouths for

up to 20 minutes. Beginners can start

slow and work their way up. To get

started, just a couple of minutes is

entirely adequate. At some stage,

how ever, one should increase to at

least five minutes because this is

the length of time that the oil needs

to penetrate even hard-to-reach

periodontal pockets and start

achieving its antibacterial effect.

And what do I do in the meantime?

Five minutes can be a long time – or

they can fly past in a flash if, for instance,

you have a bop to your favourite tune

while you do the oil pulling.

And what about brushing my teeth?

You do that straight after oil pulling.

First spit out any excess oil – ideally into

a paper towel that goes in the wastepaper

bin. Then gently brush your teeth and

tongue with a damp toothbrush, and

rinse your mouth out well with water.

The new Fresh Factory was opened in Hartberg

in 2013. A supermarket awaiting demolition was

sustainably converted. Now, because of our fantastic

growth, 6 million euros are being invested in an

expansion: Austria’s most modern logistics centre is

being built here with an area of 3,000 m², guarantee-

ing the electronic traceability of every single product.

With energy-efficient materials-handling technology

covering an area of 500 m, up to 20,000 business

transactions can be handled simultaneously.

expansion, rainwater

tanks with a capacity

of 12,000 litres have

means that in future,

around 1,000,000

litres of fresh water

can be saved every
