M113 ACVAMphibious VehiCle

FTS has successfully produced and delivered 10EA of the Arisgator amphibious vehicles to Indonesia.

We are now developing a new and improved amphibian, which will be superior due to its unique hull design, manoeuvrability and powerful jet engines. These vehicles can be used during beach landing operation, island patrol or can contribute during aid mission following disaster relief operations, like tsunami and floods.

In addition to his unique amphibious tracked assault role, its versatility can also be used for law enforcement (and peacekeeping) operations.

Design RequiRements

During beach landing operation the troops can land under armour protection and with minimum delay as these amphibians are launched from LCTs and rapidly cover the distance between the vessel and the shore. The transition from water to the ground operation is without tactical pause.

Once on land, the vehicle can serve effectively as an armoured combat vehicle providing protection and firepower.

The ACV has a speed of 12 km/h in water and a max ship-to-shore range of 10 km. Even with its low profile of 60 cm above sea level, it is able to navigate in open sea up to windscale Beaufort 3.The maximum speed on land is 55 km/h with a max range of 410 km. In water, it is more manoeuvrable because it uses a hydro-jet steering system in addition to the tracks.

The dimension and weight of the vehicle are kept within ideal measures. The width of the vehicle falls under standard road regulations and is within the truck size of 2.5m.The weight does not exceed 13 ton, it can pass narrow roads and has perfect manoeuvrability in the jungle and swamps.

The ACV is more economical in diesel fuel consumption and maintenance costs. The hydrostatic steering provides a better fuel control at all speeds which are particularly critical during initial loading and unloading of the vehicles from the transport ship. Due to its standard M113 basis, it only needs 6.5 manhours maintenance per 100 hours of operation.

The ACV owns its firepower to its 12.7 mm Machine Gun with armour protection for the gunner. When desired, the vehicle can be delivered with an Enclosed Weapon Station and 8 smoke grenade launchers.

The basic troop version has room for a driver, a commander and 11 troop seats. As with a normal M113, this basic version can be modified to any other configuration required by the user: Command post, Recovery, Ambulance,… even a winch can be installed for rescue purposes.
