1 yard Lyon panel, SB20205-930 • 1 rectangle 15 1/2" x 21 1/2" from center section. • 4 squares 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" from corner sections. 7/8 yard brown swirl, SB20053-280 • 1 strip 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (1) 1 1/2" x 21" strip. • 1 strip 2 1/8" x WOF; cut into (4) 2 1/8" squares and (8) 1 3/4" squares, then cut the 2 1/8" squares in half diagonally to make 8 triangles. • 1 strip 6 7/8" x WOF; cut into (4) 6 7/8" squares and (4) 2 1/2" squares. • 5 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding. 3/8 yard orange print, SB20104-430 • 1 strip 4 1/2" x WOF; cut into (8) 4 1/2" squares. • 1 strip 3 1/2" x WOF; cut into (4) 3 1/2" squares and (1) 1 1/2" x 21" strip. 1/3 yard heart print, SB20208-330 • 2 strips 3 1/2" x WOF; cut into (4) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles and (8) 3 1/2" squares. 3/8 yard blue bee print, SB20197-930 • 1 strip 4 1/2" x WOF; cut into (4) 4 1/2" squares, then cut (2) 1 5/8" x 24" strips from remainder and cut into (8) 1 5/8" x 5 3/8" strips. • 1 strip 1 5/8" x WOF; cut into (8) 1 5/8" x 4 1/4" strips. • 1 strip 1 3/4" x WOF; cut into (16) 1 3/4" squares. 1/8 yard green swirls, SB20103-830 • 1 strip 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (1) 1 1/2" x 21" strip

2/3 yard yellow swirls, SB20053-310 • 5 strips 1" x WOF; cut into (2) 1" x 21 1/2" strips, (2) 1" x 16 1/2" strips, (8) 1" x 5 1/2" strips and (8) 1" x 6 1/2" strips (for panel framing). • 1 strip 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (1) 1 1/2" x 21" strip • 4 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (2) 38" lengths and (2) 34" lengths for border. • 1 strip 2 1/8" x WOF; cut into (8) 2 1/8" squares, (8) 2" squares and (4) 1 5/8" squares, then cut the 2 1/8" and 2" squares in half diagonally to make 16 triangles of each size. 1/8 yard blue swirls, SB20053-930 • 2 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; cut each strip into (1) 22 1/2" length and (1) 18 1/2" length (2 of each length total for panel framing). 1 1/4 yards blue lion print, SB20206-930 • 2 strips 4 3/4" x 40" along the length of the fabric. • 4 strips 4 3/4" x approximately 32" across the remaining width. 3/8 yard white tonal • 2 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (4) 1 1/2" x 21" strips. • 4 strips 1 1/4" x WOF; cut into (2) 36 1/2" lengths and (2) 32" lengths for borders. 3 1/4 yards hearts and bees, SB20208-330 (backing) • 2 pieces 50" long for backing

Piecing the Blocks Note: Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching.

1. Sew a 1" x 5 1/2" yellow strip to opposite sides of each 5 1/2" panel square. Press seams toward the strips. Stitch a 1" x 6 1/2" yellow strip to the remaining sides of the squares to complete (4) 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" Framed Panel blocks. Press seams toward the strips.

2. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the 1 5/8" yellow squares, 3 1/2" heart squares, 3 1/2" and 4 1/2"

orange squares and 2 1/2" brown squares.

3. Place a marked yellow square right sides together on 1 corner of each 4 1/2" blue bee square. Stitch on the marked line. Trim seam allowance to 1/4". Press the yellow triangle toward the corner to complete 4 bee units.

Make 4

4. Sew a 1 1/2" white strip lengthwise together with a 1 1/2" brown strip to make a strip set. Repeat with orange, green and yellow strips and white strips to make 4 strip sets total. Crosscut the orange and yellow strip sets into (8) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" segments each and the green and brown strip sets into (12) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" segments each.

5. Join an orange, green, brown and yellow segment to make a 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" short strip. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make 4 short strips total. Join 1 orange, 1 yellow, 2 green and 2 brown segments to make a 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" long strip. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make 4 long strips total.

6. Stitch a short strip to 1 side of each blue bee unit. Press seam toward the bee units. Sew a long strip to the adjacent side of each bee unit to complete (4) 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" Corner blocks. Press seams toward the bee units.

Corner Block — Make 4

7. Place a marked 4 1/2" orange square right sides together on 1 corner of each 6 7/8" brown square. Stitch on the marked line. Trim seam allowance to 1/4". Press the orange triangle toward the corner. Repeat with a marked 3 1/2" heart square on the orange corners. Repeat with 4 1/2" orange and 3 1/2" heart squares on the opposite corner of the brown squares. Cut each pieced square in half diagonally to make 8 stripe triangles.

8. Sew a 2 1/8" yellow triangle to 1 side of a 1 3/4" blue bee square and a 1 3/4" brown square to the opposite side. Press seams away from the blue bee square. Stitch a 2 1/8" brown triangle to 1 side of a 1 3/4" blue bee square and a 2 1/8" yellow triangle to the adjacent side. Press seams toward the triangles. Join the 2 units to make a pieced triangle. Press seam to 1 side. Repeat to make 8 pieced triangles total.

9. Stitch a 2" yellow triangle to 1 end of each 1 5/8" x 4 1/4" blue bee strip and 1 5/8" x 5 3/8" blue bee strip. Press seams toward the triangles. Sew 1 of each pieced strip to each pieced triangle from step 8. Press seams toward the strips.

10. Stitch a large pieced triangle from step 9 to each stripe triangle from step 7 to complete (8) 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" Crown blocks. Press seam toward the stripe triangles.

11. Place a marked 3 1/2" orange square right sides together on 1 end of (2) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" heart rectangles and

on the opposite end of the 2 remaining rectangles. Stitch on the marked line. Trim seam allowance to 1/4". Press the orange triangles toward the corners. Repeat with a marked brown square on the orange corners to complete (2) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Side blocks and (2) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Reversed Side blocks.

Completing the Quilt Note: Refer to the Exploded Quilt Diagram on the next page throughout the following steps.

1. Sew a 1" x 21 1/2" yellow strip to the long sides of the panel rectangle and the 1" x 16 1/2" yellow strips to

the top and bottom. Press seams toward the strips.

2. Stitch a 1 1/2" x 22 1/2" blue strip to the long sides of the framed rectangle and the 1 1/2" x 18 1/2" blue strips to the top and bottom to complete the 18 1/2" x 24 1/2" panel center. Press seams toward the strips.

3. Sew a Side block to the top of a Framed Panel block and a Reversed Side block to the bottom. Press seams toward the Framed Panel block. Add a Crown block to the top and bottom to complete the 6 1/2" x 24 1/2" left side strip. Press seams toward the Side blocks. Repeat to make the right side strip, stitching the Side block to the bottom of the Framed Panel block and the Reversed Side block to the top.

4. Stitch the strips to the left and right edges of the framed panel center. Press seams toward the panel center.

5. Sew a Crown block to opposite sides of the remaining Framed Panel blocks and add a Corner block to each end to complete the 6 1/2" x 30 1/2" top and bottom strips. Press seams away from the Crown blocks.

6. Stitch the strips to the top and bottom of the panel center to complete the 30 1/2" x 36 1/2" quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

7. Sew the 1 1/4" x 36 1/2" white strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the 1 1/4" x 32" strips to the top

and bottom. Press seams toward the strips.

8. Stitch the 1 1/2" x 38" yellow strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the 1 1/2" x 34" strips to the top and bottom. Press seams toward the strips.

9. Sew the 4 3/4" x 40" lion strips to the long sides of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

10. Stitch the 4 3/4" x approximately 32" lion strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams to 1 side. Cut into (2) 42 1/2" strips. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center to complete the top. Press seams toward the strips.

11. Remove the selvage edges from the 50" backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim the top and bottom edges to make a 50" x 56" backing piece. The seam will be side to side on the quilt back.

12. Layer the quilt top and backing with a 50" x 56" batting piece. Quilt as desired and bind using your favorite methods and the brown binding strips to complete the quilt.
