During the past three years, LVUSD has lost over $10million in state funding. In response, the District hasinitiated numerous cost-saving measures and programreductions, resulting in over $4 million in savings or newrevenues.

The monies generated from Measure K would be used toprevent further cuts to programs and reduce the potentialfor teacher and counselor layoffs. Senior citizens areexempt from paying the tax, as are residents who qualifyfor disability payments.

Measure K expires after eight years unless renewedby the voters and requires an independent oversightcommittee to monitor all expenditures. Additionally, nofunds can be used for administrator salaries or benefits.

Copies of the ballot language, along with additionalinformation on Measure K, can be found on the Districtswebsite at www.lvusd.org.
