THE EXHIBITION PATRICIA PICCININI: CURIOUS AFFECTION https://www.qagoma.qld.gov.au/whats-on/ exhibitions/patricia-piccinini-curious-affection • A floor plan of ‘Patricia Piccinini: Curious Affection’ has been developed to assist with visit preparation. • Patricia Piccinini: Curious Affection is a ticketed exhibition. This means you need to pay for a ticket. • You can buy tickets in advance online – go to QTIX or at the GOMA ticket desk on the day • You can take photos, but you can’t use a flash. The exhibition includes sculptures, photographs, installations, videos and sound • The artist is known for her hyper-real sculptures of lifelike hybrid creatures • See videos of the artist as she walks around the exhibition and talks about her work SENSORY EXPERIENCES • Signs in the gallery will tell you the location of high sensory areas • Some areas of the exhibition are brightly lit while others have low lighting and are quite dark • There are 2 small sculptures that you can touch and feel. These are next to the GOMA cloakroom. • The first rooms as you enter the exhibition are brightly lit. As you move through these rooms, the light becomes a little brighter. - You can wear a cap if you are sensitive to bright light - There are some videos within the exhibition. The sound will be lowered or switched off between 9am and 10am. You can also wear noise cancelling headphones. • The second half of the exhibition is dimly lit. - There is a sprung floor in this space that allows the flower like sculptures to bend and move slightly as you walk through. - Spotlights are shone on the sculptures in this room. • There is a chill out/quiet zone at the river end of the building. This is shown on the floor plan. This area contains comfortable seating with windows that provide a view to the river. This is for safety of the artworks on display. You cannot bring in food and drinks, large items such as backpacks and sticky items such as putty. - You can store items that you are not allowed to take into the Gallery in the cloakroom. - You can take quiet sensory tools/stimming toys in to the Gallery. • Please do not touch the artworks. This can cause damage. • The air-conditioning vents at GOMA are in the floor throughout the building. • The air conditioning is maintained at 21.5 degrees throughout the building. This is the best temperature to conserve the artworks.
