W E L C O M E………………….
Whilst we are unable to meet - let’s stay in touch by sharing some images
of perhaps one of our arrangements, our garden, plants, flowers, views on
our walks, encouraging words, humour - the list is endless!
This is a first issue (trial!) put together by the Committee and hopefully,
in the future, Club members will contribute to any further editions.
This time can prove difficult for us in so many ways. However, being able
to stay in touch with our ‘flower friends’ will hopefully, help us to look
forward to being back together in the near future.
Take care and Stay Safe.

Sycamore Glory and Friend
This spectacular patch of common
sycamore grows on the hedge beside our
yard. Every Spring the leaves emerge in
these glorious colours. We have no idea
why - further along the hedge the
sycamore is just normal green. At the
Cornwall Spring Garden show last year, I
used some stems from it in a Constance
Spry style exhibit. The pony is a three
year old, called Tawna Rosetta . . . I
thought she provided a nice colour
harmony!
It’s always interesting to visit other people’s gardens. When our flower
club had a garden party at Christine’s home in 201u8, I was inspired by her
marvelous shady ‘Hosta Corner’ With magnificent, perfect specimens in big
pots. That Autumn I dug up my poor plants which had been struggling in a
dedicated bed that had become completely overrun with nettles and
bindweed.
I already had various large pots, used nice fresh compost, and topped that
with sharp sand to help deter slugs. By laying an area of second-0hand
paving slabs underneath I was able to create a relatively slug-free zone and
am delighted to see my plants coming through now strong and healthy. My
Hosta display is not enhanced by the scaffold tower currently in their
midst … but it did allow me to take this aerial shot!

Friends are the fruitcakes of our lives,
some are nutty, some are soaked in

altogether, they are great to have in your
