The University name comes from the word “Lusofonia” which names all the Portuguese speaking countries and their common linguistic and cultural background. The university assumes itself as the leading institution responsible for the development of this geographical and cultural space with more than 200 million inhabitants. The University campus is situated in the centre of Lisbon city, the capital of Portugal. Universidade Lusófona is an equal opportunities university currently with a student body of more than 11.000 students and 1500 teachers. The University is structured around nine academic Departments that constitute the main institutional unit. Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias currently offers 48 undergraduate Degrees, 47 Master Degrees, 8 Phd’s programs and 41 Post-graduation Degrees. Besides this, the university offers a large number of vocational and continuous training courses accordingly with the life-learning development paradigm. All the University courses fulfill the European Higher Education requirements, and comply with the European Credit Transfer systems (ECTS).
