Students must have their valid passports and all their immigration documents on hand during their journey as these will be required by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry. It is advisable to carry some cash, about £100-£200, with you for urgent expenses on your arrival. Accommodation and Welfare The College will assist students in arranging reasonably priced private rented accommodation if requested, in advance. The student has to pay appropriate Deposit towards such accommodation that might be reserved for him/her. Liral Veget College recognises that living and studying in a foreign country can sometimes be stressful, especially at first. Students have access to our Welfare Officer with whom they can discuss any difficulties they may encounter in adapting to life in the United Kingdom. Our aim is to ensure that your stay with us is happy, productive, comfortable and rewarding. Students requiring any assistance/special arrangements to meet their needs should communicate in writing to the Welfare Officer in advance and confirm that such arrangements have been made, before his/her arrival. The College organises orientation programme for new overseas students so that they become acquainted with the College and life in the UK. These usually include information sessions about the College and local facilities. This provides the students with opportunities to meet with other students. The student advisor can help students with personal concerns or worries and provide information, help and advice on a wide range of issues such as accommodation, finances, medical, immigration etc. Finance Students must ensure that they have sufficient money to support their studies and maintenance. Arrangements to transfer funds to UK should be made prior to leaving you home country. Living in London can be expensive and it is extremely important to budget properly and keep track of your spending. Opening a Bank Account Once you are in London you will need to open an account so that funds can be transferred from abroad into your account. To open an account, you need to complete an application form from the bank. You will need proof of identity (your passport), UK address (e.g. gas or electricity bill) and your student status (enrolment letter). You may also need to show evidence of income (from a sponsor/family) or savings, and to make an initial deposit into the account. It is advisable to bring reference from your bank at home if you already have an account. Work The International students are currently either given a limited permission or not permitted to work depending on the conditions of eligibility. Students are advised to strictly follow the visa conditions and ensure that they comply with all the regulations specified by the UK Border Agency. Registration with a Doctor (GP) For many overseas students the effect of an unfamiliar climate and the pressures of living far from home and family can give rise to medical problems. On arrival students are advised to register with a doctor as soon as possible. They are also advised to register with a local dentist as it is easier to get emergency treatment if they are registered. The medical facilities are offered to students free of cost, provided they are undertaking a course for duration of at least 6 months. Living Costs/maintenance funds It is recommended that students should allow themselves approximately £7200.00 per year to cover the FEE of accommodation and basic living expenses such as food, travel, clothes, books and stationery, entertainment, personal items, and additional course FEES. The College draws your attention to the fact that some of the International students not being permitted to undertake part time work in the UK while studying, it is very important to ensure on your part that you have adequate maintenance funds to support your living and study costs.

Language Programmes Trinity College accredited Programmes in English Language A four-skill examination

Language skills do not operate in isolation and in most real circumstances, in education and work, a

language user is likely to use all four language skills in combination. In the classroom a student may

be listening to the group, giving an opinion, reading a textbook, downloading from the internet or

writing down some new vocabulary, all in the space of half an hour. In the work environment a

language user may be reading from a computer screen, listening and speaking on the telephone and

simultaneously taking notes. This is why the ISE examinations assess integrated language skills

across a range of examination components.

Integrated Skills in English (ISE) – Duration 4 months Overseas students can take up the English Language Course ISE, as a pre session course (un conditional course to

continue the main course). The course is recognised by the UK Border Agency for all visa purposes.

English language as a pre session course International students can opt for a pre-session (Unconditional) course in English language, in addition to their main course.

In such cases, the student can start his English course 4 months in advance to his main course of study.

Proof of English Competency through IELTS /TOEFEL etc is still required for the students seeking admission to the UK

Colleges and Universities. As such, students should not consider the pre session English course as an alternative to the

requirement of English proficiency.
