E- NEWS LETTER (2015-16)
ORIENTATION DAY
n 2nd Aug 2015, Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of management & Sciences welcomed the
fresh batch of students to its rich scholastic and co-scholastic ambience. The main purpose
was smooth transition into college campus
where students familiarise with their peers, faculty
members and others.
While orientation has been traditionally for students,
Lingaya’s have recognized the fact that parents also
need help dealing with the transition. To the
traditional student orientation, we had added parent
orientation as well.
Dr. Arti Bahuguna and Ms. Richa Arora compared
the orientation event in the auditorium. The event
started by the lightening of the lamp by our chief
guests chairman Dr. P. Gadde and Director Dr. Ashu
Singh then there was an all-religion prayer by students which included Gaytari Mantra, Ardaas, Surah
Fatia, Lord’s Prayer, then there was a welcome speech by the Director. Faculty introduction was
followed by the award giving ceremony for the topper students.
BAL PANCHAYAT
The prime objective of this function was to represent
the system of BAL PANCHAYAT. The key points
were-welcoming school children along with faculty,
dance performance by B.Ed. students and school
children, quiz, play on Sapno ki Duniya, gifts to
school students etc.
Prof. Kavita Joshi gave the welcome speech. Mrs.
Sharada Gadde also motivated the students and
teachers by sharing her valuable experience which
she had in her remarkable and hardworking career.
Fresher’s Party
program was organized by the institution on 28th August, 2015 for all the freshers. New batches
of all the departments were warmly welcomed by the institute. The theme for the party was
“Hawaii” and one could feel the exuberance throughout the program. Students prepared dance
performances to welcome all the freshers. They put an extra flavour into the program by adding a
comedy act. Games were played which acted as a kind of ice- breaker in order to acquaint new batches
to one and all. Freshers’ showed their enthusiasm in the ramp walk for Mr. and Ms. Fresher
competition. Mr. and Ms. Fresher titles were won by the students from Bachelor of Journalism and

Mass Communication department.The program ended with the DJ session where all the students
jammed to the Bollywood tunes
teachers’ Day
A delightful Teachers’ Day was celebrated in the auditorium on 4th September, 2015. Director of the
institute and head of departments inaugurated the programme. Poem recitation, speeches, skit, dance,
and a group song by the students were the tribute to the teachers. A game was played in which acting
of different teachers was done and teachers had to guess their role-player. Amid this, question/answer
session with the teachers set the program rolling.
VISIT TO BOOK FAIR
he college arranged a visit to the book fair on 31st
August, 2015. All student teachers were gathered at
the main gate of Pragati Maidan at 9:30-10:00 a.m.
The faculty members helped and guided the students to
get the books of their interest. Later all the students
gathered near the exit gate along with class counsellors
and discussed about the books and the wonderful
experience of the day. It was a nice and knowledgeable
experience for all the students.

Guest Lecture on ‘Education & Marginalised’
he department organised the special lecture series given by Dr.Deepti Srivastava on the harsh
reality of ‘Education for Marginalised’ in the seminar
hall.
Dr. Deepti introduced the pupil teachers with the term
‘marginal’ and gave the brief information about it. In the
video shown by her students saw and heard the personal
experiences of the marginal people, how their life is,
where they live, what they do and how do they cope up
with the harsh realities of life. As per Deepti ma’am this
video was shot by the street children themselves.
Afterwards, she discussed the problems and main issues
regarding it. The
students also participated in the discussion and shared
their personal experiences. She also shared with the pupil teachers that after the Right to Education
Act, the child labour is decreasing. She made the students aware about the certain things and showed
the path how to deal with these situations. The lecture ended with the vote of thanks!
PRELIMINARY SCHOOL EXPERIENCE (PSE I)
As per GGSIPU guidelines-
All the Pupil Teachers must experience the school environment, the work field for the
professional life of the teacher. The
Teacher Educators must share the ‘pious’
work of imparting and polishing the
teaching Skills as a Team Teaching
(Effort).
For the above mentioned purpose
LLDIMS launched PSE on 05/10/2015
full-fledged. It was for two weeks only
and was culminated on 16/10/ 2015
Students were distributed into groups and
mentors were there to guide them.

Participation in National Seminar on RTE held at
Amity Institute of Education
Dr. Arti Bahuguna and Ms. Neelam Tomar
along with students of Department of
Education- attended the ICSSR sponsored
one day National seminar on ‘Right to
Education : Equal rights and opportunities
for social participation of students from the
Marginalised sections of the Socieyt’ . It was
an enriching experience.
Guest lecture on CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF ROLE OF I.C.T
Everyone was gathered in auditorium on October 9,
2015, to learn together from one of the visionaries in the
field of education, Prof. M.C SHARMA
(IGNOU).This Program was a part of the lecture series
as an initiative of the department of education
titled “EDUCATION & ME”. Today’s lecture was
titled as ”CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF
ROLE OF I.C.T” in effective curriculum
transaction and evaluation involving the role of open
and distance learning in catering to diversity in
learner’s and learning style. He explained the role,
functions of I.C.T. on the teaching learning, O.D.L (open distance learning) along with the PPTs and
shared his personal experiences. He also
discussed about the problems and main issues regarding
the topic, the students raised the questions related to
remote areas and how to solve these problems.
Orientation of B.Ed. (Second Semester)
n 7th of Jan 2016 Orientation was conducted in Seminar Hall for B.Ed. students pertaining to
Second Semester. Overall briefing was done by Ms. Astha Saxena where she also discussed theory
and practical components of the course along with examination pattern. Queries of the students were
dealt thread barely. Smooth functioning was assured under the able guidance of Prof. Rainu Gupta,
HOD, Department of Education.
Vivekananda Jayanti Celebration
12th January is celebrated all over India as National Youth Day to commemorate the birthday of
Swami Vivekananda. Pupil-teacher from the department arranged a special assembly with great
enthusiasm in remembrance of Swami Vivekananda. Special screening of documentary was done under
the supervision of Ms. Joyti Sehrawat. The objective was to make pupil-teacher know Swamiji more
closely and understand his philosophy.
Prof.Rainu Gupta (HOD) sang a very melodious bhajan.
Everyone was mesmerised. Pupil-teachers: Tanvi, Dimpy
and Monika shared their views on this occasion. Ms.
Rohini Jain share some interesting Anecdotes from
Vivekananda’s life. The assembly ended on a positive
note with a sense of instilling a sense of
awakening. An Essay writing competition was also
organised to commemorate the day. Students
expressed their views on “Educational Philosophy of
Vivekananda and its implication in present
scenario”. Tanvi, Arushi and Priyanka won the prizes.
Kho-Kho Tournament
kho-kho match was organised on 13th Jan 2016 in the
college premises. Pupil Teachers participated with great
enthusiasm. The match commence with the permission of
Director Dr.Ashu Singh. All the faculty members along
with pupil-teachers were there to cheer-up the participants
throughout.
The match was very close as all the participants played very
well.

Lohri CelebratioN
he students and staff of the institute
celebrated Lohri on 13/01/2016 in the
college campus with great enthusiasm. The
girls were traditionally dressed to dance around
bonfire on the tunes of Punjabi songs.
Director, Dr.Ashu Singh, emphasized on the
importance of traditions in our life and focussed
on ‘women empowerment’.
With great zeal and enthusiasm the function ended
with positive vibes. Everyone enjoyed to the fullest.
PRELIMINARY SCHOOL EXPERIENCE (PSE II)
As per GGSIPU guidelines following activities were
covered-
1. Organisation of Co-curricular activities by pupil
teachers by assisting and participating in the
organisation of the same and recording experiences of
the same in a reflective journal.
2. Writing a reflective journal on the problems faced
by teachers in assessment through the scheme of
Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation by
observing the teachers evaluating students and
engaging with them to know their problems with
respect to implementation of the scheme in their school.
3. The student teacher shall also undertake the field activities pertaining to the practicals during this
period.
For the above mentioned purpose LLDIMS launched PSE II on 05/02/2016 full-fledged. It was for two
weeks only and was culminated on 18/02/ 2016
Students were distributed into groups and mentors were there to guide them.
onE Day WORKSHOP ON CTET
workshop was organised by Department of Education for CTET aspirants. For this purpose Mr.
Gupta from the organisation named EASY CTET was invited. He briefed the students about the
pattern of exams.

They provide the information about the styles of papers and the tactics to solve the paper in very short
time. They also told about the formulas to clear the exams. Students cleared their doubts and were
really benefitted by the lecture.
Republic Day Celebration
tudents and staff of our institute celebrated the spirit of 67th year of Republic Day in special way on
26th January, 2016. Education Department decorated the college with kites made by students, tri-
colored balloons, ribbon, Rangoli and organized cultural program, which was graced by our Director,
Ashu Singh.
The program started with prayers of four different religions to express unity in diversity; Hindu, Sikh,
Muslim, Christian Prayers followed by National song. Our pupil teachers delivered patriotic speeches,
recited poems etc.
Ms. Prachi sang very melodious patriotic song ‘Ai mere watan ke logon..’ Our Director, while
addressing the audience pointed out the relevance of the poem on freedom written by Shri
Rabindranath Tagore. Then our HOD Prof. Rainu Gupta motivated the students with her valuable
words.
Workshop on Cancer Awareness for GirlS
The Department organised an Awareness campaign on
Breast Cancer on 25th Jan 2016. The resource person was
Ms. Savita Luka from CanSupport, NGO for Cancer.
Ms. Rohini Jain from Department of Education gave the
welcome note. The event was attended by Director
Dr.Ashu Singh along with all the faculty members from
Education Department.
A documentary was shown to create awareness among
students, which undoubtedly cleared various doubts of the
students.

The students participated in “Cancer Walk for Life” held on 31st Jan 2016 to spread the awareness
about cancer.
Surajkund -Mela Visit
ccupying a place of pride on the international
tourist calendar, more than a million visitors
throng the Mela during the fortnight including
thousands of foreign tourists. To acquaint the students
of Department of Education with this cultural bounty a
visit to fair was organised.The Mela was organized by
the SurajkundMela Authority & Haryana Tourism in
collaboration with Union Ministries of Tourism,
Textiles, Culture and External Affairs. For the
30thSurajkund International Crafts Mela-2016, the State
of Telangana has been chosen to be the Theme State.
All the students along with faculty members enjoyed a lot.
Celebrating Matribhasha Saptaah (Week) s per UGC guidelines the Department celebrated Matribhasha Week from 22nd Feb to 26th Feb
2016. This celebration aims to promote the dissemination of Mother Tongues and fuller awareness
of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on
understanding, tolerance and dialogue. To promote the use of mother tongues of different states, the
following objectives were identified:
- Encourage usage, not only of the respective mother tongue, but other languages as well;
- To understand and draw attention to the diversity of cultures, in India and the consequent forums of
literature, craft, performing arts, scripts and other forms of creative expression;
To achieve the above mentioned objectives, the students prepared theme based programme covering
different states of the country- showcasing their varied cultural glimpses and linguistic diversities.The
students participated with great enthusiasm and vigour, exploring the cognitive, economic, social and
cultural activities of multilingual society!

‘UNIty IN DIVersIty’
Nhrc sPoNsoreD oNe Day traININg Program oN ‘Human rIghts IssUes wIth sPecIal FocUs oN womeN aND chIlD rIghts’
We organised One Day Training Program on Human Rights Issues with Special Focus on Women
and Child Rights on 22nd Feb 2016.The workshop commenced with traditional lamp lighting
followed by a short documentary on “Awareness of child rights”, prepared by students. Dr.
Farheen Malik, member Delhi Commission of Women, was the guest of honour for the day. Noted
speakers were- Mr. Prayank Jain, External Guest Speaker, International Winner of Best Memorial
Award in 7th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, Geneva, Prof. Somen
Chakraborty MA, LLM, PGDEL, alumni of the University of Calcutta and the University of Delhi,
Prof. Rainu Gupta, Internal Resource Person, HOD, Department of Education.

epartment of Education celebrated GyanUtsav-
"Celebration of Knowledge". A beautiful tapestry
of events woven with our Annual Fest- Zest 2016.
Various events ranging from literary to cultural (Quiz,
Debate, Creative writing, Dance, Mehndi competition
and so on) were organized.
The main purpose behind was to motivate future
teachers to be committed towards bringing change,
"This was a small step but a giant leap in that
direction"! Students from around fifteen colleges from
Delhi/NCR region participated in this mega event. The
event was ended with prize distribution ceremony by
our HOD and Director.
Events:
*Art and Science of teaching: This event of Art &
Science of teaching helped our future teachers to
showcase their talent of teaching and learning in
classroom
*RAINBOW OF ARTS INCLUDES 3 SUB-
EVENTS: RANGOLI DESIGNING
Rangoli is the expression of artistic vision through the
joyful use of colors. It is usually made during Indian
festivals. They are meant to be sacred welcoming areas for
the Hindu deities.
MEHENDI DESIGNING
Mehendi is a traditional ceremonial art form which
originated in the ancient Indian subcontinent. It is typically
applied during weddings - most often for brides but
sometimes for grooms and is considered auspicious

*PAINTING COMPETITION
Painting is a mode of creative expression, and the forms are numerous. On the spot painting is one of
its kinds which is
the instant
expression or result
of imagination of
the painter on
different subjects. It
is the best example
of the prompt
creativity.
*Brainathon As the name suggests ''Brainathon'' was a marathon or competition of brains. This marathon of brains
i.e brainathon consisted of 3 interesting rounds for students. –

Like many things,photography is a delicate balance between science and art. You need to master both
to succeed. In this students displayed photographs clicked by them during PSE programmes.
* GANIT ULLAS: helped the participants to solve the queries from mathematical point of view with
creativeness in their thoughts. Also, they will be able to apply their basic mathematical knowledge
skills while going through events such as AD-MAD, TAMBOLA & MATHS QUIZ.
Udaipur Trip
epartment of Education organised a trip to Udaipur
from 2/3/16 to 6/3/16. Udaipur has a romance of
setting unmatched in Rajasthan and arguably in all
India. Fantastical palaces, temples, havelis and countless
narrow, crooked, colourful streets add the human
counterpoint to the city’s natural charms. Everyone was so
excited as they got much needed break from mundane
routine. DJ night was organised on special request of
students. Everybody enjoyed a lot. All the students were
very disciplined throughout even the travel agent
complimented the batch by saying that this was the best
batch ever!

Participation in MOSAIC-2016 HELD AT GIAST
Our Students from Department of Education participated in MOSAIC 2016 i.e. a Techno-Cultural Fest
on 16th March 2016 organised by Gitarattan Institute of
Advanced Studies & Training. Our students
enthusiastically participated in events like Rangoli
Competition, Solo Dance, Cooking without gas and others
and made our institute proud by winning positions.
* Nancy Ahuja got Ist Position in On the spot Solo Dance
competition
* Deepali, Ayesha, Kamaljeet, Nikita, Swati & Shikha got
Ist Position in Cooking without Gas Competition
Cash prize of Rs.1100/- along with the certificates were
given to the winners in valedictory session.
Ms Prachi Johri was the Teacher Coordinator who guided the students.
PartIcIPatIoN IN sPorts Day at lINgaya’s UNIVersIty
Students from Department of Education participated in
the event of Sports Day celebration held on 18/03/2016
at Lingaya’s University. Students participated in
various sports activities like race, relay race, shot put,
Discuss Throw etc. Our pupil teachers made us proud
by winning various positions.

Participation in Special Programme on World Forestry Day
The students of department of Education participated in the World Forestry Day Programme on 21st
March 2016 by National Science centre, Pragati Maidan. Students participated in the various
activities/competitions like Tree Treasure Hunt- Spotting trees/plants at NSC, Interaction session on
“Ecosystem Restoration: Insurance for improved quality of life”, Forest Science quiz on ‘Forest &
Environment’, Essay Writing Contest on topic ‘Deforestation & its impact on Earth.’ & Visit to
National Science Museum and Innovation centre.
*Ritika Kharbanda (B.Ed.) got second position in
Essay writing competition.
*Shalini Patel (B.Ed.) got second position in Science
Quiz competition
Prize distribution ceremony held on 7th April 2016 at
National Science centre, Pragati Maidan.
Ms. Joyti Sehrawat was the teacher coordinator along
with the students. Overall it was an enriching
experience.
worKshoP helD oN ‘gUIDaNce aND coUNsellINg’
A special workshop was held on 5th April 2016, for students of B.Ed. as a compulsory part of the PSE
format. A demonstration was given by Ms. Priyam Sharma, a counselor at Amity International
School, Noida. She covered various topics under Guidance and Counseling such as: -
• Meaning of Counseling, its needs, goals & Stages of counseling.
• Career Information in guidance and counseling.
• Basic Skills and values in guidance and counseling.
• Special concerns and ethics in counseling.
All aspects were covered with the help of well explained presentations. The queries of pupil teachers
were answered by her based on her real experiences. It was really a remarkable experience gained by
the
students. The workshop was attended by HOD, Education Department, Prof. Rainu Gupta, the
concerned subject faculties Prof. Joshi and Ms. Rohini Jain along with the students. The vote of thanks
was given by Prof. Rainu Gupta.
gUest lectUre oN ‘receNt treNDs & INNoVatIoNs oN
educational evaluation
On 13th April 2016 at seminar hall of LLDIMS a guest lecture was arranged by Dept. of education. The
speaker of the lecture was Prof. M.C. Sharma and the topic was “Recent Trends & Innovations on
Educational Evaluation”. The lecture was attended by all the students of B.Ed. & also by all faculties.
He extensively talked about grading system. Credit system, online examination, on demand
examination and how it can be effectively used for evaluation to the students he gave valuable
information regarding institution based assessment.
The lecture was followed by question answer session & later vote of thanks was presented by Dr.Arti
Bahuguna. It was a grateful experience for the students to gain some knowledge by an experienced
person in our institute.
FACULTY Participation in Sports Activities under ‘JOSH-2016’ at lINgaya’s UNIVersIty
Faculty from Department of Education participated
enthusiastically in the event of Sports Day celebration
which was organised on the occasion of JOSH 2016 held on
02/04/2016 & 16/04/2016 at Lingaya’s University. All the
faculty members participated in various sports activities like
Cricket, Badminton and Kho-Kho etc.
*Our women Cricket team under the captainship of Prof.
Rainu Gupta (HOD) got Ist position.
PARTICIPATION IN FoUNDatIoN Day celeBratIoNs “JOSH- 2016” at lINgaya’s UNIVersIty
All the faculty & staff of department of Education attended the foundation day Celebrations “JOSH -
2016’held on 29th April 2016 at Lingaya’s University. Various cultural programmes and competitions
like
Mimicry, Group Dance. Solo Dance, Solo song, Duet song, Fashion show, Mr. & Ms Lingaya’s etc
were organised on this occasion. Many faculty and staff of LLDIMS participated in these activities.

Prof. Rainu Gupta , HOD presented a paper in ICSSR sponsored National
Seminar held on 6/02/2016 at Rao Abhay Singh College of Education, Rewari,
Haryana as a Resource Person at valedictory session.
Dr. Manju Sharma, presented paper ‘विद्यालय मेँ ह िंदी माध्यम से शिक्षा के
अिसरों के आिंकलन’ in Bhartiya Bhasha Sansthan sponsored National seminar held
at Amity Institute of Education on 8th December 2015.

Change’ held on 6-7th November 2016 at Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of
Management & Sciences, Delhi.

Integration’ in UGC & DHE sponsored National Seminar on ‘Social, Economic &
Cultural Identities in Reconstructing Indian Nationalism ‘ held on 29-30 January
2016 at Aggarwal College, Haryana.

relevance and approaches’ in National Conference on ‘Competency Building for
Excellence , Innovation & Social Change’ held on 6-7th November 2016 at
Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of Management & Sciences, Delhi.

National Seminar organized by Lingaya’s university on 11th December 2015.

Science & Technological Communication, Govt. of India.
