MentoringA value of personalized learning is that every student is deeply known. One of the ways we make this a reality is ensuring that every student has a mentor they meet with regularly. At MMS mentors see their mentees every day and for a 10-minute, one-to-one meeting every week.

Mentors commit to providing personalized support and getting to know the students as whole people: academically, socially and emotionally.

Clubs Student Council:

Student Council provides students an opportunity to get involved in activities that take place within the school. Activities include

dances, spirit weeks, a talent show as well as fundraising opportunities. Officers include four

elected positions and volunteers who want to be involved in the school events.

Broadcast Club:Broadcast Club is an organization that gives students

interested in video and broadcast journalism a chance to gain real world experiences by writing, filming, and editing the morning news for the school. It is entirely

student operated.

More ClubsTech Club:

Members of the Technology Club have the opportunity to explore technology concepts with a focus on creating their own

individualized technology projects and activities.

Builders’ Club:The Builder’s Club is a service based organization that will provide

members with opportunities to volunteer their services throughout the school and the community of

Fairview Park. While specific projects may change from year to year, Builders’ Club can expect to be involved with food drives,

Fairview Park Senior Center programs, and hosting specific school events.

New Club - Model UN Model UN, which has support from the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, is a unique, interactive program that make current events alive for students. Through participation in Model UN simulations, students achieve global learning objectives. They are empowered to investigate the world, recognize different perspectives, communicate ideas to diverse audiences, and apply what they learn creatively during research, debate, and conference time.

And one more! Power of the Pen

Power of the Pen is a writing club for grade 7th and 8th graders. This is for those that enjoy writing and sharing passion with others. The program strives to not only recognize creative writing, but to also spark a lifelong love of writing in all students. The students will do fun group activities and learn new techniques, writing on a variety of topics and sharing their stories with the group. Students may have a chance to participate in the Power of the Pen interscholastic district writing tournament in January/February. Those that qualify will move on to a regional and possibly even a state tournament. Further information can be found at www.powerofthepen.org.
