Abstract :

We have all been experiencing LED for over 40 years as the ‘red colour-standby’ and ‘green colour-on’ light in our TV and other appliances. While LED has been used mostly for such ‘indicator’ purposes including traffic lights, its application as an ‘Illuminator’ is growing in the last few years. However, existing Fluorescent, CFL and Induction lamps are giving it tough competition with their economical and diffused nature of light which seems equally attractive for general and functional illumination purposes.

Forecast of World LED Market in 2012 ~ 2015 by Mr. Roger Chu, Green Energy Division Research Director, LEDinside

Abstract :

Looking towards 2012, given the huge amount of untapped MOCVD capacity, the LED industry is expected to remain in oversupply. LEDinside believes that the oversupply is expected to persist for a while, but the LED end market will continue to see speedy growth. However, the European market’s growth momentum takes a turn for the worse following the outbreak of the European debt crisis. Fortunately, projects from governments and power plants continue to increase. As a case in point, the LED outdoor lighting and architectural lighting projects in the United States and Australia see stable growth, not to mention the increasing street lamp projects in the U.S. east coast states. Furthermore, the street lamp projects released by Australian power plants also begin to take form. Hence, 2012 will become a year for the strong to thrive and the weak to fade; only companies who own technology edge and patents can survive the fierce competition

The tremendous technical improvement in LEDs, particularly over the last few years, is helping significantly growth in LED lighting. Clearly the improvements in efficacy, flux output, stability is very critical for LEDs. However, to accelerate the LED adaption in illumination markets, the reliability, quality of light and real operating performance specification are becoming the important factors of developing LED lighting fixtures. In this speech, we will review the main elements of quality of lights, and the advantage of hot testing and “Freedom from binning”.

Abstract :

Light emitting diode (LED) technology has made remarkable progress in the last decade. In recent years, the LED market has seen consistent double-digit growth and technological advancements have expanded their functionality and capabilities while improving efficiency. While strong short- to mid-term market growth for LEDs has been driven mainly by television backlighting, mid- to long-term growth for the market will be driven primarily by lighting applications. The growth potential for solid-state lighting is constantly expanding as LED technology continues to improve. LEDs can now compete with essentially all traditional lighting technologies and it is by far the fastest growing technology with the highest potential.In fact, LED technology has made so much progress that the end of the efficacy race is coming into sight. We can expect to reach economical limits for efficacy in this decade, making efficiency critical on every step of the value chain, from the microchip level to the full system. With such unprecedented market growth and remarkable technical milestones that LEDs have achieved, people will ask how to move further step. In this presentation, we will analyze four driving forces for future optimization in solid state lighting.

Abstract :

It is possible to design a High bay or street light using a single LED today. High power LED’s pose unique design challenges in thermal, electrical and optical areas. This session addresses some of the design support available for designing LED light fixtures over 100w.

High Bright White LED COB Packaging Technology by Unique Vaccum Printing Systems by Mr. Atsushi Okuno, CEO / Vice President, Sanyu Rec Co., Ltd / Japan LED Association

Abstract :

We have newly developed the unique technologies for the LED lens formations using our Vacuum Printing technology later we called “Vacuum Printing Encapsulation System” (VPES). This printing technology under vacuum is very suitable for the mass production featured with a very fast cure process. This lens formation technology by VPES has been widely used for the wide angle lens applications and super brightness than that of chip LED(SMD).At the same time, we have developed the high reliability silicone resin systems with the hybrid resin compositions between epoxy resin and silicone resins for lens formation applications. These resins have the intermediate thixotropic index property which products are also printable with our VPES equipments. This lens formation technology for the super bright white LED with VPES are well suited for the global Environmental Control Management.
