• Family income < $36,000/year • African American, Hispanic, Native American, or
Pacific Islander race/ethnicity • First-generation college student (FGCS)• Hispanic college students are the racial/ethnic
group most likely to be FGCS

• Students who meet more criteria (based on ethnicity, income, and/or first-generation status) demonstrate progressively lower college and career readiness rates
• Studies on Hispanic FGCS have linked them to the poorest academic outcomes, as compared to FGCS in other racial/ethnic groups
• Least likely to attain a bachelor’s degree within 8 years of high school graduation
• Lowest first- to second-year persistence rates
