It was a pleasure to have lunch with our Stage 5 Food Technology class. I was invited to share the spoils of their International cooking/food program. The food presented looked and tasted great and is an absolute credit to the student’s attention to detail and love of food. I was able to share the following international food - butter chicken, rice and poppadoms, Turkish pied, traditional Italian pizza, sushi, pad Thai, chocolate mousse, black forest cake, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, honey chicken, chocolate chilli tart, Greek meatballs and yogurt, tabbouleh, hommos and yogurt bread.

Well done to Axl Delandro and Jesse Thomson-Jones who were chosen to be the local support act for this years, Festival of Small Halls, in Grenfell on April 11. They have been rehearsing hard for their upcoming performance and are grateful for the opportunity to be involved. It would be wonderful to see as many as possible of THLHS community supporting the boys on the night.Thank you and congratulations to all students who participated in the Blayney Agricultural Show last weekend and a special mention to Angus Kelly who won the overall Grand Champion Parader of the Show.

Congratulations to our Chessnuts, Sophia Huxtable, Brodie Petty, Dylan King and Peter Armstrong who have progressed to the next round of the NSW Country Schools Chess competition after defeating Red Bend in the 1st round.Congratulations to Rhys Hughes who has been selected in the Western Region Open Lawn Bowls team to play in the CHS carnival to be held in Wyong later in the year.Congratulations to Niamh Mitton, George Mitton and Tom Robinson who were selected to represent Western region at the upcoming CHS swimming championships in Sydney.Have a great weekAaron FlaggPrincipal

Principal’s reportA big congratulations to Caleb Haddin in Year 10 and Chrystal Hucker in Year 11 who have been awarded the Gunyah Craft Shop Achievement Scholarship. The students were nominated for the scholarship by the school executive based on current commitment and attitude towards school studies. Well done!

Congratulations to our very own Taylor Keppie, Jayde Hundy and Megan Wilson who were part of the U15 Western Women Rugby League Grand Final winning team. The girls defeated the Dubbo Goannas 46 – 22. The staff and students of THLHS are very proud. Well done!

I visited the Year 7 Science classroom recently. Students had the task of identifying unknown substances within a mystery mixture. They did this by designing their own separation experiment based on their prior learning knowledge on separation methods such as filtration, decanting, centrifuging, ink chromatography and evaporation. Students successfully separated and identified water, food colouring, dirt, wood shavings, sugar and salt from the mystery mixture.

Success at the Blayney Show!Waking up to a cool and wet Friday morning, we were a little concerned for our first outing. However, we needn’t have worried as the sun shone through and ended in a sunny dry and successful weekend at Blayney Show! Our newly formed cattle team headed to Blayney with fifteen students and ten head of cattle. For the past six weeks, students have broken in and taught the cattle how to behave and be paraded, Blayney Show was our first test. The Angus section had a lot of strong competition. Devanah Anne, placed third in a strong class and the remainder of the Angus, while they paraded well, unfortunately did not place in their classes. We experienced more success with our Murray Greys. Grey Lady placed first and was awarded Reserve Champion with Bib second to Grey Lady. Infinity also claimed a second placing in her class. The students then competed in paraders against 100 students from surrounding schools. Faith White, Tatiana Hazell and Angus Kelly were named as finalists in their age groups Faith and Tatiana both received highly commended and Angus Kelly won his age group. There was great excitement as Angus then went on to win overall Grand Champion Parader of the Show. Congratulations Faith, Tatiana and Angus. The students and cattle received praise from bystanders at Blayney Show and were commended on their attitude, team work and presentation of themselves and their animals.I would personally like to thank our students, their families and our truck driver Donk (Rob Taylor Transport) for your efforts in getting our students and cattle to Blayney and to our students for your impeccable behaviour. Bring on Sydney Royal against hundreds of students, schools and nearly 1000 head of cattle!
