E QUIPMENT NEWS Realising the benefits of verti- cal multistage in-line pumps DP-Pumps, in the Netherlands, has developed three families of vertical multistage in-line cen- trifugal pumps. The new pumps, the DPV and DPVS series, offer many advantages. All components in contact with the pumped medi- um are made of stainless steel. The DPV series is made from AISI 304, and the DPVS series from AISI 316. Longer service life, enhanced performance and improved hygiene are the result. The performance also bene- fits from the optimized shaping of various components - such as the diffusers - resulting in higher efficiency, and lower energy requirements. The average power saving is approximately 10%. Another important feature is that, compared with previous of DP-Pumps optimised component design has result- ed in an average 10% power saving. vertical multistage in-line cen- trifugal pumps, the shaft/ impeller hub design has been improved. The O-ring seal of the pump sleeve is insensitive to temperature fluctuations, which assures maximum protection against leakage. The pumps of the DPV and DPVS series have a deep- drawn and welded pump-foot. The DPVS is available with internal-thread flanges, DIN flanges or with Victaulic connections. The new pump types arc supplied as DPV 10, DPV 18, DPV 14 and DPVS 10,DPVS 18 and DPVS 14. The maximum capacity is 12 m3/h for the DPV 10 and DPVS 10 series. The max- imum capacity is 12 m3/h for the DPV 14 and DPVS 14, and 24 m3/h for the DPV 18 and DPVS 18 series. Possible applications for the new series of pumps include process- and potable water prcs- surisation-systems, boiler-feed, sprinkler, climate-conditioning and fire-fighting systems, and water-treatment and irrigation systems. The unit has a low profile for flexibility and ease of installa- tion to facilitate retrofitting existing systems. Angled 45 ° inlets allow piping and installa- tion options never before possi- ble. This makes it easier to retrofit older, obsolete equip- ment where space is limited. Its stainless steel body, not cast like traditional pumps, means it can stand up to impuri- ties which quickly build up in a closed hot water system. The vacuum pump was developed using state of the art technology: 3D, solid modeling, CAD/CAM and finite element analysis. The pump internals are designed to minimize the effects of scale build-up caused by hard or poor quality water. Cartridge bearings are selected to provide more than 20 years of trouble- free operation. Contact: The Nash Engineering Company, 9 Trefoil Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611-1330, USA. [] Universal pumps offer three-way mounting The Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Universal/Industrial 5000 Series rotary positive displacement pump features a gear case design with three-way mounting ability for shaft and inlet/outlet position options. The series is designed to use commercially available mechani- cal shaft seals to match a partic- ular application in modern cor- rosion-,hazardous- and abrasion- resistant materials. All wetted parts of the 5000 Series that come in contact with the product are 316 stainless steel including optional stain- less steel rotors. Applications not requiring stainless steel are equipped with patented "Waukesha 88"non-galling alloy rotors that allow for close run- ning clearances. The 5000 Series capabilities include nominal capacities from 1 to 450 gpm that are self-prim- ing, reversible and capable of operating at high levels of effi- ciency over the normal speed range of 1 to 600 rpm.
