Reception meet a menagerie of exotic beastsThe Reception children were

enthralled by the visit of Phil from Jaws ‘N’ Claws. First out of the box was Ryan, a baby bearded dragon, followed by Jenny and Jimmy, the hissing cockroaches from Madagascar and Brian the Giant African Land Snail. The children learnt that Brian has one foot and

his tongue, which has 10,000 tiny teeth, is on the bottom of his foot. Buster the tree frog was next. He needed to be sprayed with water to keep his skin wet. After Buster came Sam, the tiger salamander, who can regrow his limbs if they get damaged.

Finally, the children met what turned out to be their favourite creatures: Ben, a milk snake from Honduras whose smooth skin fascinated all the children and Ron, a giant rabbit who was HUGE but was still only a 7 months old baby rabbit.

Despite some initial hesitation,

everyone gained the confidence to touch or hold something. The children also impressed Phil with their knowledge of reptiles and amphibians and asked really good questions too. They all gained a Resourceful Ranger sticker for making the most of a new experience.

Year 6 find out about Life in KenyaYear 6 were lucky to be visited by Mrs Walker during their Geography

lesson. She shared stories about her time in Kenya and had brought along fascinating artefacts which the children got to feel and try on. It was kind of her to spend time engaging the children with her love for this beautiful country.

Holocaust Memorial DayYear 6 and 7 pupils marked Holocaust Memorial Day by visiting

Chichester to see Howard Moody’s opera ‘Push’. This was a moving and memorable performance, and the prayers at the end of this musical event were particularly poignant. We were very proud of the children’s quiet interest and respectful silence. They were a credit to the school.

Well done!Congratulations to Harrison F

who was proud and excited to gain his orange belt at Karate recently.
