Matthew 11:25-27

At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things

from the wise and understanding and revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one

knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Reflection: The simple of heart are like "infants" in the sense that they see purely without pretense and acknowledge their

dependence and trust in the one who is greater, wiser, and more trustworthy. They seek one thing - the

"summum bonum" or "greatest good," who is God himself. Simplicity of heart is wedded with humility, the queen of virtues, because humility inclines the heart towards grace and truth. Just as pride is the root of every

sin and evil, so humility is the only soil in which the grace of God can take root. It alone takes the

right attitude before God and allows him, as God, to do all. God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the

humble (Proverbs 3:34, James 4:6). Only the humble in heart can receive true wisdom and understanding of

God and his ways. Do you submit to God's word with simple trust and humility?

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, as we celebrate the Year of the Poor and promote the culture of helping give us the child-like

simplicity and purity of faith to gaze upon your face with joy and confidence in your all-merciful love. Remove

Laudato Si, the title chosen by Francis this time, comes from a 13th century prayer written by St. Francis of Assisi called “Canticle of the Creatures,” often referred to as the Canticle of the Sun. It can be translated both as “Be Praised” or “Praised Be,” and it reoccurs several times as the prayer praises God by thanking him for creations such as “Brother Fire” and “Sister Water.” (http://www.cruxnow.com)

LSGH HISTORY TRIVIA

La Salle Green Hills (1959) is the fourth La

Salle school established by the Christian

Brothers in the Philippines after De La Salle

University in Manila (1911]), University of St.

La Salle in Bacolod (1952), and the La Salle

Academy in Iligan (1958).

What Are Learning Disabilities?

Most learning disabilities fall into one of the two categories: verbal and nonverbal.

People with verbal learning disabilities have difficulty with words, both in spoken and in written. The

most common and well-known verbal learning disability is dyslexia, which causes people to have

trouble recognizing or processing letters and the sounds associated with them. For this reason,

someone with dyslexia has trouble with reading and writing tasks or assignments.

Some people with verbal learning disabilities may be able to read or write just fine but struggle with other

aspects of language. For example, they may be able to sound out a sentence or paragraph perfectly,

making them good readers, but they can't relate to the words in ways that will allow them to make sense

of what they're reading (such as forming a picture of a thing or situation).

And some people have trouble with the act of writing as their brains struggle to control the many things

that go into it — from moving their hand to form letter shapes to remembering the correct grammar rules

involved in writing down a sentence.

People with nonverbal learning disabilities may have difficulty processing what they see. They may have

trouble making sense of visual details like numbers on a blackboard. Someone with a nonverbal learning

disability may confuse the plus sign with the sign for division, for example. Some abstract concepts like

fractions may be difficult to master for people with nonverbal learning disabilities.
