Attractions, Leisure Sports & Recreation
Water Attractions and Recreation The Atlantis aquarium is not just for guests of At-lantis. For a modest fee you’ll walk through an un-derwater wonderland where manta rays, spotted rays, tropical colored fish, sharks and eels seem close enough to touch. Manta ray feeding is a highlight. If you want an unforgettable experience, make time for the Blue Lagoon Dolphin encounter with bottle-
nose dolphins. The 141-acre waterscape Aquaventure is the centerpiece of the Atlantis Resort and one of the world’s largest water-themed attractions. There are thrilling water slides, a mile-long
river with high intensity rapids and wave surges, snorkeling la-goon, life-size replica of a Maya pyramid and the awesome Leap of Faith. More fun can be found by taking a Booze Cruise, offer-
ing a combo of sun and fun. Drink, dance to Caribbean music or swim and snorkel in the warm, clear waters. Good diving and snorkeling are found around the island. Inquire at your tour desk or con-tact Stuart Coves Dive Center at Atlantis or Bahama Divers in Nassau. The Lost Blue Hole is the most unusual dive site in the Bahamas. The natural sinkhole in the open ocean floor is 100 feet across and 200 feet deep with large schools of
reef. Local charter boats can take you to places where trophy-sized fish await your challenge. Hook up with an experienced guide and see if you can better one of the 50 world records in the Bahamas. Take a 25-minute boat ride to Blackbeard’s Cay, named after Edward Teach a.k.a. Blackbeard, the most feared pirate of his time. There’s also a Stingray Adventure Program and fun Treasure Beach Tour. Whatever you want to do, it’s always better in The Bahamas.
Attractions & Things To Do In Nassau Referred to as the Fish Fry by locals, Arawak Cay, with its colorful multistory shacks lining the harbor is only a conch’s throw from the downtown Nassau. Those seeking tasty seafood flock here to chill out with a cold brew and eat fried grouper fingers, conch salad and grilled lobster. A mile from downtown is charming Ardastra Gardens and Zoo Conservatory. The landscaped grounds have aviaries, animals including two jaguars and a show three times day with rare Carib-bean flamingos marching to military or-ders in unison. The Junkanoo Museum showcases the elaborate costumes and floats from the annual Mardi-Gras-type festival that ignites an exuberant fever in the streets of Nassau every Decem-ber 26 and January 1. In the same vi-cinity is the National Art Gallery with a collection of Bahamian artists’ works in the national collection plus chang-ing exhibitions. The Pirates of Nassau Museum in the heart of downtown is housed in three historical buildings with fun theatrical exhibits bringing the history of pirates in the Caribbean alive with group walking tours and a chance to re-live the days of Blackbeard. Land-mark buildings to see include Rawson Square directly across from Prince George Wharf, the cruise dock. There are pastel pink and white historic government buildings including Parliament and the Governor’s mansion. Historical places of interest are The Queens Staircase, Nas-sau’s historic forts Montagu, Charlotte and Fincas-tle, Gregory Arch and The Caves. And for those who feel lucky, there are two world-class casinos, Atlantis Casino on Paradise Island and Crystal Palace at Ca-ble Beach.

DOWNTOWN NASSAU
Nassau’s reputation for duty-free shopping is legendary. Savvy shoppers have made their way here for decades seeking duty-free savings on name-brand watches, jewelry, leather goods, crystal and china. In addition to the normal savings (usually more than expected) you also pay no sales tax. If you want to save even more, shop smart and compare values. Don’t be afraid to bargain for your best price. Also remember… always pay with a credit card when possible. The retail shops recommended below have ads on this map showing locations, telephone numbers and other information to help you find them. DeLucci Jewelers… is where you’ll find a luxury collection of white, fancy yellow, pink and blue diamond designs. Check out the unique, one-of-a-kind designs from the DeLucci Collection. They also offer guaranteed certified appraisals with a USA based customer service center. Festival Place… at Prince George Wharf celebrates Bahamian culture with lively vendors in colorful shops with gingerbread trim. Here is where you’ll find high-end crafts and goods such as Harl Taylor handbags with luxurious lining and beadwork, hand-rolled soaps and handcrafted jewelry. There’s an interesting food court and several kiosks where local foods and snacks are enjoyed. John Bull… for almost a century, John Bull has been the premier retailer of luxury goods and services in The Bahamas. They represent some of the world’s finest and most sought-after designers of fragrances, jewelry, timepieces, leather goods, cameras and cosmetics. Boasting a full line of renowned brands, you’ll find Cartier, Coach, David Yurman, Gucci, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels and more. John Bull is also the exclusive retailer for Rolex in The Bahamas. Nassau’s Straw Market… No visit to Nassau would be complete without a stop at this one-of-a-kind marketplace. Located on Bay Street in the heart of town, it is famous throughout the islands for the quality and variety of crafts and hand-work found there. Browsing and exploring the vast array
of goods and crafts is only half the fun. The jocularity characterized while haggling for your best price make the experience priceless. It’s truly worth a visit. Solomon’s Mines… one of the original duty-free merchants in Nassau, showcasing elegant timepieces, stylish leather goods, porcelain collectibles, an unmatched collection of stainless
steel items and jewelry designed with diamonds, rubies and other gemstones. Fashionable timepieces include Anne Klein, Armitron, Guess, Nautica, Phillipe Charriol and Skagen. Fine jewelry features Majoria, Gabriel & Co. and Candela.
Don’t miss the stunning collection of Lladro porcelain figures, Lalique collectibles and the display Kalifano’s life-sized globes made from semi-precious gemstones. Via Mare… this unique boutique is where you’ll find stylish, one-of-a-kind imported designs. Sporting a seahorse logo, the trendy collection is fashionable, yet affordable. On display is a very nice collection of designer jeans, sporty sundresses, sheer tunics and flowery blouses in silks, cottons and lace. More shopping ideas… Del Sol has an interesting line of clothing and accessories that come to life with color when exposed to sunlight (kids love them). For biker junkies there’s a Harley Davidson store with souvenir apparel bearing the HD
logo from The Bahamas. Venetian Jewelers boasts the largest collection of diamonds
highlighted with colored diamonds by Sophia Fiori. Columbian Emeralds International displays an exquisite collection of jewelry with emeralds
and other gemstones. Sharkeez may be the brightest idea for souvenir tees,
bikinis, hoodies and colorful floral shirts. Elizabeth at Bay Marketplace has several nice
stores sporting imported European fashions. The Ole Nassau stores have a wonderful selection with excellent pricing on duty-free liquors, wines and cognacs.

Their evening menu is a fine selection of tempting cuisine prepared with an international flare, Adjoining the restaurant Bullion Bar is popular for drinks and music.Blu Restaurant & Bar… is Nassau’s newest hot-spot for contemporary foodies. The charming waterfront setting oozes of casual elegance.
