Gday again punters and welcome to the Indonesian Independence day issue of the newspaper for 2014. For those of us that understand the archipelago a little more than some know, the Indonesians are a very proud people and each year you will see the country's flag thrown just about over and on top of almost anything to help mark the day's celebrations each year. At one point I thought only us Aussies where the proud ones, but I was wrong as the Indonesians are probably that much prouder when it comes to their independence.

The celebrations are set each year for the 17th of August and the country generally has a well earned day off on which as a traveler you will witness a lot of flag hoisting, parades and many social gatherings. The day is one that marks when Indonesia was declared Independent from the Netherlands and is filled with festivities and celebrations, despite the fact that Indonesia declared its independence from the Dutch Government on August 17, 1945, it wasn't until 2005 that the Dutch accepted this date as the official date for Indonesia's independence. I hope all our Indonesian friends and family enjoy the time and we all look forward to enjoying it along with you.

Ok with that aside and moving forwards on a much less enjoyable subject, I'd like to write a few words about a terrible loss the island and many of us had this week, being the passing of Mr Max Moore. Mr Max was a permanent retired resident at the Kuta Town Houses, and I will say, without a doubt, was the most well liked gentleman that I think anyone would have met in their life. We are talking about a man who had a very accomplished life, tragically losing his first wife many years ago which brought him to the island and as fate would have it into the arms of his only true love Miss Ni Made. I must admit I have sat with Mr Max over many green bottles and listened to just how much Miss Made meant to him and rightly so. I'm sure all of you that knew him heard the same thing over a few cold ones, “I'll have half” Mr Max led a full and fruitful life having a large family in rural Victoria, who will sadly be feeling the pain of their loss. Mr Max was an athletic man who carried the Olympic torch for a way at the 1956 Melbourne games along with spending many years scuba diving, travelling to many places in the world to enjoy the past time. In his later years he developed a desire to restore old machinery and only stopped when he moved to Bali, leaving his son to continue on with many successful projects being completed over the time. Mr Max would help anyone with almost anything. All you needed to do was ask and he would do whatever he could to help you.

Such was his generosity and desire to help others that he was often called on by many to help fix small things and I know he took great pleasure in doing so. He generally charged the standard green bottle consultation fee for every repair, which sometimes cost you more than buying a new item. This was arguably the best part of getting Mr Max to help you with something and usually ended in an all nighter. He did his best to keep busy and in his last few years found an incredibly strong bond with his brother from another mother, when he met Mr Ken Lester. The both of them acted like a couple of young pirates. Max was a true example of what an Aussie man was and should be as an adult and he will be terribly terribly missed by all who knew him. From Mr Andrew & Miss Timor, along with the Management team and all the staff and crew at Kuta Townhouses and the staff and crew at the Kuta Weekly Newspaper, we offer you our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family that has been left behind, especially the lovely Miss Made who filled more than 14 years with love for our mate Max. We hope you all get through this horrible time and life moves forward with the fondest of memories. I will also pass onto the family, the names of so many people that have emailed and called us at the Newspaper to offer their blessings and condolences. R.I.P Max

Ok folks on that note I will leave you to ponder and trust that the most of you stay safe, happy, healthy and always try to remember, Life's to short. Enjoy your week. ALIASJ….

A Bum's RushPresident to 'Sell' Benoa Bay Reclamation to President-E lect Joko Widodo at September 3, 2014 Gathering

Bisnis.com reports that President Susi lo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to meet with the president-elect Joko Widodo to discuss the reclamation of Benoa Bay in leadership talks scheduled for September 3, 2014.

The d i rector-g e n e r a l o f a r c h i p e l a g o e s , coastlines and small i s l ands f r om the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Sudirman Saad, confirmed their planned meeting will e x p l a i n t o t h e President-elect al l large-scale projects under development i n c l u d i n g t h e reclamation of Benoa Bay.

Plans are for the President and President elect to jointly launch a whole range of large-scale projects during their coming meeting.

Fait Accompli?S u d i r m a n a d d e d :

“Essentially SBY will explain to Jokowi that (Benoa Bat) is a large-scale project that has been

planned for a long time. There i s an in te rna t iona l commitment. There is an investor. Please keep the project moving ahead.”

Sudirman emphasized that the Benoa Bay project with an estimated value of Rp. 30 trillion (US$2.6 billion) will have to meet a number of project requirements to

ensure it remains “clean and green.”

Refus ing to comment further, Sudirman said: “Just let the President explain directly to Jokowi in the company of the media.”

He did add, however, that the Benoa Bay project fulfilled all the criteria for a “good project.” He went on to explain that major projects must pass a three-phase

suitable investor; clearly identifying its usefulness to the public; and verifying that the pro ject wi l l not harm the environment. Adding: “The main point is the project has met all these criteria.”

Meanwhile, a groundswell of opposition to the Benoa Bay reclamation continues to grow in

Ba l i , r e j ec t i ng a Presidential Decree signed by SBY on May 30, 2014 that revised an earlier decree of 2011 proclaiming the B e n o a B a y a n d s u r r o u n d i n g m a n g r o v e s a s a p r o t e c t e d conservation area.

The presidential decree would allow 700 hectares once p r o t e c t e d a s a

conservation zone to be rebuilt into a tourism, sports and recreational complex. The project would be developed by Jakarta businessman Tomy Winata and PT Tirta Wahana Bali International who have promoted the planned redevelopment to create an complex the equal of Walt Disney World in the United States.

Spiteful hero buys all the pies at Burger King A couple days ago our hero needed to get something off his chest, so he took to the "offmychest" section of reddit and proceeded to tell the most true story anyone has ever told on the Internet about how he was so fed up with a screaming, whiny kid in line at Burger King that he bought all the pies the restaurant had so the kid couldn't have any.

The hero? Our hungry narrator in line at Burger King. For his privacy's sake, he did not post any pictures, And our villains? A terrible mom and her screaming kid, also in line. There, that should set the stage.

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name

So a while ago I had decided to treat myself and go to Burger King. I hadn't had the greatest of days and I had a headache coming on. It was a very long line and I was at the end of it waiting patiently. When behind me comes this woman yapping on her cellphone with a little monster of a child. This kid was out of control, screaming, punching his mother throwing around a gameboy whenever something didn't go right in the

game. The mother didn't seem to pay any attention to him and his continued yelling of 'I want a F%*#ng PIE'. After about 5 minutes of the line with these people behind me, I had gone from a headache to a full on migraine, but nothing was going to stop me from getting those burgers. I calmly turn and ask her nicely if she can please calm or quiet her child down. Immediately she gets up in my face telling me I can't tell her nothing about raising her child and to mind my own business. I nod and turn around, she's still yelling at the back of my head

when the child cries out again how he wants a pie, the mother consoles him, calling him sweetie and ensuring they'll get pies for lunch because she loves him so much.

What a terrible mom and child! I hope they never get any pie...

I then decide to ruin their day. I order every pie they have left in addition to my burgers. Turned out to be 23 pies in total, I take my order and walk towards the exit. Moments later I hear the woman yelling, what do you mean you don't have any pies left, who bought them all? I turn around and see the cashier pointing me out with the woman shooting me a death glare. I stand there and pull out a pie and slowly start eating as I stare back at her. She starts running towards me but can't get to me because of other lineups in the food court. I turn and slowly walk away.

Wow. It is a tale of triumph, although, we get the sense that our hero has some remorse, as he titled his story "Am I a bad person for this?" No, hero you can never be a bad person when you are sharing your truth.

Ewen McKenzie delivers Wallabies shock and names Kurtley Beale at No.10 for Bledisloe opener

we've come up with the best squad possible to win on Saturday night,” McKenzie said in the team release.

“In the end, we've got a very similar group of players to those who got the job done against

France, we've just modified some roles slightly to suit how we want to play the game.”

On the switch between Beale and Foley, McKenzie said: “Bernard hasn't put a foot wrong since we chose him in June, but Kurtley has really stepped

up his game over the past few months and he's consistently been one of the Waratahs best

players every week.”“He'll bring some additional x-

factor to our game. We feel that will suit our two-playmaker

framework and ensure we have the right balance in those positions along with Matt Toomua.

“Kurtley's also an experienced guy who has played 42 Tests, so he will enjoy the added

responsibility of wearing the

KURTLEY Beale has been named at five-eighth for the Wallabies to take on New Zea land in the open ing Bledisloe Cup clash after displaying irresistible form for the Waratahs in their Super Rugby title run.

Beale was one of five personnel changes made by coach Ewen McKenzie from the last outing against France, with the star playmaker replacing NSW teammate Bernard Foley to add “additional x-factor” to mission Bring Back Bledisloe.

Dominant form for the Tahs also saw Adam Ashley-Cooper returned to the no.13 jersey ahead of Tevita Kuridrani, and Rob Horne named alongside Pat McCabe as the starting wingers.

In the forwards, Nathan Charles will make his starting debut at hooker after Tatafu Polota-Nau was ruled out with a knee injury, and Brumbies lock Sam Carter was named to make his second Test appearance after overcoming an ankle injury suffered in his first against France in June.

McKenzie said the changes were a reflection of form, injury issues and the style Australia wanted to play to beat the Kiwis at ANZ Stadium.

“There were a number of extremely tough selection decisions, especially after the way

the team performed against France, however we're confident

number 10 jersey.“He's got a proven track record

at the position at a provincial and Test level, and he has

been involved in a number of important wins at flyhalf for Australia over the years.

“Shifting Adam from the wing to the centres has been for much the same reason – he's been

in outstanding form for the Waratahs and was a real point of difference for them at the back-

end of the Super Rugby season.“Adam's never let Australia

down no matter what position he plays and we know he'll enjoy

the move to a position where he has had a lot of experience at during his career.”

The Wallabies have named a nine-man bench, with one player to drop later in the week.

“I 've always been a big advocate of 'starters' and 'finishers' and I'm confident we have guys

on the bench who can come into the game and make an impact,” McKenzie said.

“A lot of tries are scored in those final 20 minutes and we've seen over the years just how

clinical the All Blacks can be at that stage of the game. We need guys who can withstand

the pressure in those moments and also create opportunities for us as well.”

Chris Scott poised to sign deal with Geelong that will see him coach until end of 2017 season

GEELONG coach Chris Scott has confirmed he is on the verge of signing a two-year contract extension.

He is already contracted until the end of next season.

Scott said on Tuesday morning that he was happy to be re-committing to the club, which is about to appear in its eighth consecutive finals series.

“I'm really committed to Geelong long-term, and every indication I get from the powers-that-be here is that the feeling's mutual,” Scott said.

“I was never really too worried about the specifics of it. But I think the club is happy and I'm certainly very happy with the

situation.“I hope I'm here for a very

long time. You can work on the assumption that I'm going to be at Geelong for at least the next few years.”

The Cats, on a six-game winning streak, face Carlton this Friday night at Etihad Stadium.

They have no injury concerns, apart from ruckman Dawson Simpson, who Scott said would not be available to play this weekend after coming off early in last week's VFL game with a back complaint.

“It is minor and it is only temporary, and we'd love to have him available, but if you compare this year to last year, we're fortunate enough to have Hamish McIntosh up and going with a bit of assistance from

Mark Blicavs,” Scott said.

Ben Hunt says combination with Ben Barba is working for the Broncos

B R I S B A N E playmaker Ben Hunt b e l i e v e s B e n Barba's switch to the halves has made his job easier and turned the Broncos i n t o a m o r e d a n g e r o u s N R L outfit.

Hunt has starred in his first full season at halfback but his form suffered a worrying dip in losses to Melbourne and Manly after Barba was moved to five-eighth.

There was speculation the club's decision to dump mentor Anthony Griffin had rattled the 24-year-old while it also seemed the No.7 was struggling to strike the right combination with Barba.

ut Hunt said his troubles all boiled down to himself overplaying his hand.

“I just think those two games I was just looking for too much,” he told AAP. “I was going out there and trying to find plays that just weren't on instead of playing a simple game and playing what was in front of me.

“It wasn't the coach's decision, it was just the way I

played.” Hunt was back to his best in Brisbane's 41-10 thumping of Canterbury on Friday night - their biggest win of the year.

He scored two tries and was creative on the right side while Barba, growing in confidence after swapping with Josh Hoffman, also shone in sharing playmaking responsibilities on the left.

“I think it's going really good,” he said. “Barbs has been one of our better players the last couple weeks and he's really taken that position on and it really helps me.

“When he's firing it takes a bit of pressure off my side and if people are doubling up on him then it gives me an opportunity to have a go.” Hunt, leading the Dally

M medal count before it went to a s e c r e t c o u n t , believes the Broncos must lift again to upset a bruising South Sydney on Thursday night.

The Rabbitohs a r e f i r i n g a f t e r o u t m u s c l i n g pacesetters Manly 23-4 to be back in the hunt for the minor

premiership.It looms as a season-

defining clash for Brisbane who remain 10th.

“It's going to be a massive game for us and one that we have to win,” Hunt said.

“They really came out and dominated Manly and that's a credit to them and how well they're going. We have to be as good, if not better, than what we were.

“They're going to come out and try and dominate us.

“They can hurt you wherever they want with a couple of good young halves and Greg Inglis out the back and look at the size of their forward pack. They have size everywhere.”

Fisherman Transports Shark On His Truck“These amazing pictures show a two-tonne

No doubt surprised by his mega catch, the fishing captain tied the fish down with a sturdy rope and headed for m a r k e t a p p a r e n t l y unaware it was an endangered and p r o t e c t e d animal.”

Ness Brother Killed In Motorcycle AccidentThe motorcycling world is saying a prayer for the family of Arlen Ness after the tragic death of his brother on Monday d u e c o m p l i c a t i o n s suffered during a multi-vehicle crash.

A c c o r d i n g t o N e v a d a H i g h w a y Patrolman Chuck Allen, a motorcyclist riding a 2008 Victory Vision was thrown from his bike after being struck by a vehicle, the rider was identified as Kevin J. Ness (59).

Arlen is a legend in the motorcycling world and first reached acclaim in the 1970's with his unique painting style and custom fabricated parts. His son Cory, has worked alongside his father for the past 30 years; and grandson Zach has entered into the family dynasty as well. Arlen's page on Facebook has been inundated with fans around the world leaving their condolences since word began to spread of Kevin's untimely passing; condolence messages can be found at this link: https://www.facebook.com/ArlenNess.

At the time of publication, Arlen had not yet released a statement.

Law enforcement has stated that a little after noon on July 30, driver Harry D. Preston (62) of Corning, CA., swerved to avoid a possible collision with a vehicle ahead that had slowed down for traffic. When Preston swerved into the adjoining lane, he collided with a vehicle that was driven by Robert K. Brackett of Ukiah, CA. It was Brackett's vehicle that traveled into the

eastbound lane of Interstate 80 at the Wells Ave interchange and collided with Ness.

Ness was immediately transported to Renown Regional Medical Center after the collision and he managed to hang on for five days before dying due to his extensive injuries; details on any services are pending.

The resulting crash forced the closure of several lanes of traffic to allow troopers to investigate the scene. With the death of Ness, the case is now a fatality situation and all possible recommended criminal charges will be sent to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

1.6 billion passwords stolen by Russian gangMORE than 1.6 billion internet username and password combinations have been stolen by a Russian crime gang in a massive security breach.

US security firm Hold Security revealed confidential material had been gathered from more than 500 million email add resses and 420 ,000 websites.

The hackers targeted both big and small websites across the globe.

Hold Security has not named the companies which have been targeted as their sites remained “vulnerable”.

However another security expert who analyzed the stolen credentials said the breach was authentic.

It is understood some larger companies are aware their records were among the stolen information.

F o u n d e r a n d c h i e f information security officer of Hold Security Alex Holden said the breach was massive and wasn't confined just to the US.

“Hackers did not just target US companies, they targeted any website they could get, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to very small websites,” he said.

“And most of these sites are still vulnerable.”

The breach has sparked warnings for Australians to step up

their password security details to avoid having their information stolen.

I T s e c u r i t y a n d r i s k management solutions Sense of Security chief operating officer Murray Goldschmidt said this incident was evidence that Australians needed to be more vigilant when it came to protecting their personal information.

Mr Goldschmidt said while it wasn't known exactly what companies were yet affected, it was a wise idea to change and update passwords regularly, irrespective of this hack.

He added people using shared passwords and credentials across various networks and sites were most at risk of having their information compromised. “If even one of these passwords are compromised, it's like a domino effect, “ he said

He said Australians were at risk of being affected by the hack due to our high use of overseas websi tes. “Austra l ians are frequently engaged in using

international websites ... so by virtue of being on the internet, there is a risk of credentials being accessed,” he said.

Mr Goldschmidt advised A u s t r a l i a n s t o c h a n g e passwords which are shared and to use strong passwords which had a combination of numbers and letters.

He also said changing them regularly also lessened the risk of v i t a l i n f o r m a t i o n b e i n g compromised.

It wouldn't be the first time web users have been affected by a massive security breach.

In May online giant eBay warned customers to change their passwords after cyber attackers broke into its databases.

I t s d a t a b a s e w a s compromised which “included eBay customers' name, encrypted password, email address, physical address, phone number and date of birth”.

H o w e v e r f i n a n c i a l information or other confidential personal information was not affected.

And in 2012 social network LinkedIn suffered a massive security breach which resulted in the loss of up to millions of encrypted passwords, which could allow hackers to break into subscribers accounts.

The hacked passwords were first posted to a Russian hackers

A Chinese man has suffered a lucky escape after a knife fell from the sky and landed in the top of his head.

Xiao Yunzhi, 57, was out for a walk in his h o m e t o w n o f Guangyuan, Sichaun Province, before a five-inch kitchen knife fell from the top of a high-rise apartment block.

E v e n m o r e unbelievably, Mr Xiao did not immediately notice the impact, despite reporting that his head started to feel heavy.

However, as soon as the problem was pointed out by the astonished local tobacconist, pain rushed though Mr Xiao's body as bemused onlookers called for an

ambulance. He was still being treated by

local intensive care on Monday after the knife which was lodged in his head was finally removed.

Mr Xiao assessed the damage that the knife caused to the top of his head

The man's sister was quick to the scene and explained the

horror."It was terrifying to

see," "The knife handle was sticking out of the top."

"He is stable but is not fully out of danger yet," his sister said. "He cannot use the phone yet in case it has an effect on his condition."

T h e k n i f e reportedly belonged to a man named Mr Wu, who said that he left his kitchen

utensil on one of his balcony flowerpots, never imagining that it could have fallen off.

"They told the police that the wind must have blown it off," Miss Xiao added. "They have already come to visit my brother in the hospital and have paid some of his medical bills.”

Kuta Weekly 14 Aug - 20 Aug 2014 (400) Horoscope

Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20We appreciate efforts others make on our behalf. We know when someone has gone above the call of duty. Not everyone feels inclined to acknowledge what someone else has done for them and, in your world this week, it should become evident how at least one person close to you has made considerable effort in some way to placate you or make your life more comfortable. You're in the spotlight in some way this week and can expect proof, if it is needed, of how loved and respected you are. There is much love and closeness available to you now and through being appreciative toward certain individuals, you can benefit from greatly.

Taurus Apr 21 - May 21Two heads, we are told, are better than one. Working together or collaborating with others almost always brings a better result. This week, you're superbly placed to benefit from group efforts or making yourself available in ways that require you to interact with others and the sky suggests there's a curious link with certain individuals who live at a distance or possibly overseas. You're being expected to perform a particular duty or play a certain role in something involving collaboration or gathering with others. Expect to shine in the eyes of those who are delighted you're part of whatever-it-is!

Gemini May 22 - Jun 22Experienced storytellers often include characters or plot developments that appear fleetingly or seemingly unimportant at the time. Later on, we discover how important to the overall tale they were and sometimes find ourselves wishing we'd paid a bit more attention to them earlier. This week, you could find yourself believing that certain developments play no part in a story you wish was unfolding or progressing. You'll soon see how integral to the plot they really were. For some time, a certain story has been unfolding and it hasn't been without its share of twists and turns. Something is about to become clearer. Expect, very soon, to know precisely where you stand.

Cancer Jun 23 - Jul 23Fences tend to be built with specific purposes in mind. They're usually unable to accommodate backsides. In other words, fences aren't constructed in ways that makes sitting on them comfortable. In an area of your world, you've mastered the art of fence sitting. Fear has prevented you from making a decision. This week, you summon courage to ignore fear and embark upon a course of action that ensures a positive, pleasing and much needed development. You've had enough time to weigh up and assess a particular situation that has been more uncertain than it has been certain. It's time to make a decision. This time, you'll stick with it.

Leo Jun 24 - Aug 23Many organizations operate in a certain way and expect everyone to accept this. Often, we find ourselves puzzled with why these organizations work the way they do. We spot flaws in their systems and inconsistencies in their operations. This week, you're likely to find yourself having to adhere to someone else's way of 'doing things'. You will undoubtedly identify better or more practical ways of working but would be well advised to simply tow the line for now. What you have to adjust to might be bringing understandable fear or possibly even resentment but what appears enforced is actually a process that will ultimately suit you in so many ways.

Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23This week, the sky speaks of 'acceptance', particularly, 'acceptance' of you by certain others. Where you have been or felt excluded, you're likely to find it much easier from this month to make new friends and alliances. Librans looking for excitement of a romantic nature can expect more than one opportunity in that department before long. You have much to offer certain people and it is recognition of this fact that the cosmos intends to raise awareness of. Be yourself, this week. Make yourself available and show willingness to interact. Something helpful and potentially wonderful can result.

Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22It's difficult to accept that, when we lose, we gain in some way. Whilst we might not have gained in ways we would have preferred, we tend to overlook what we have learned through the process. So, if we believe we have 'lost' something and end up wiser as a result, then we haven't 'lost' as much as we believed. Something is being removed from your world now. It's important you recognize how much you stand to gain in other ways as a result. The sky doesn't necessarily imply a noticeable absence but you are being encouraged to release yourself in some way from a situation that might have become toxic or you have outgrown. Trust that this is necessary and helpful.

Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21Great minds, we are told, think alike. If that's so, why do so many great-minded people do their thinking and idea pursuing alone? Imagine if all the great thinkers sought each other and put their minds together. This week, the cosmos appears determined to bring you in contact with – or closer to – certain people who can play a very helpful role in your future. There is much common ground to be identified and explored. Collectively, you can make something wonderful happen. You have a particular talent that others are keen to use or connect with in some way. Don't deprive others the chance to work with or share with you in some way.

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20How can some people smile during times of crisis? How to they maintain a positive attitude when they ought to be visibly worried and making themselves ill with concern? Positive people see problems or crises as obstacles that can be overcome. They see them as temporary issues with solutions. This week, it is essential you see challenges as mere obstacles that can be overcome with a tiny bit of imagination and very little difficulty. Do that, and you will soon have reason to smile. You're being tested in some way now but can also trust that you are being removed from a comfort zone that has had its day. This is one process you will soon be delighted with.

Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19'I'm always fascinated by the way memory diffuses fact'. So said ABC World News anchorwoman, Diana Sawyer. Memories of past events often influence future outcomes, it's true. All too often, we expect certain results based on what we experienced previously. As this week progresses, you're likely to find, much to your liking, that what happened previously is not reflective of what can happen now. Prepare to be relieved, reassured and delighted. Something you believed to be set in stone is more flexible than you thought it was and whilst there is a connection with a past event, it will become clearer how a new future is available that differs from what you experienced previously.

Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23People who repair things are often inclined to look at a problem in its entirety, starting from the beginning, rather than focusing on immediate repair solutions first. We've all discovered in our time that something we swore blindly was broken simply wasn't plugged in or plugged in properly. This week, you're likely to find yourself exceptionally keen to 'fix' something. With closer scrutiny, you could discover that it isn't actually broken and doesn't need as much effort as you believe. You can improve a situation this week through accepting it can be improved and isn't in need of repairing.

Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20How well do you know a certain person? Or, how 'in tune' with a certain organization are you? These might be questions you're inclined to ask yourself. However, as the week progresses, you're likely discover much you had ignored or overlooked. Coming weeks are likely to bring a revelation about someone or possibly an organization you believed you had the measure of. Christina Judith Perri (born August 19, 1986) is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Philadelphia. Her debut single "Jar of Hearts" charted after it was featured on the Fox television show So You Think You Can Dance in 2010. The single went on to sell over 3 million copies in the United States and was a hit around the world. In the UK, it reached number three on the charts and spent over 3 months in the UK Top 40. A few months later, Perri released her first extended play, The Ocean Way Sessions.

After "Jar of Hearts" began to gather a large amount of attention, Perri signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. Her debut album, Lovestrong, was released on May 10, 2011. In 2012, she wrote and recorded "A Thousand Years" for the film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) and it appears on the accompanying soundtrack. The song went on to sell over 4 million copies in the United States, being certified 4× platinum. Her second EP, A Very Merry Perri Christmas, was released in October 2012. Perri's second studio album, Head or Heart, was released on April 1, 2014. Its lead single, "Human", was released on November 18, 2013.

Early lifePerri grew up in Bensalem, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philadelphia) with her older brother, Nick Perri, who formerly played guitar with Shinedown, Silvertide, Perry Farrell and Matt Sorum. Her father is from Italy and mother from Poland. She graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 2004. She taught herself how to play guitar as a 16-year-old by watching a videotape of Shannon Hoon from the

group Blind Melon performing on VH1. She frequently sang and acted in musical theatre as a child. Perri cited her brother as having a large influence on her early musical work, saying that he introduced her to rock music including Guns N' Roses, which would later inspire her music. She also claims to have learned to play piano and guitar because she missed hearing music being played in the house when he moved away. According to Perri, whenever she played the guitar or piano, she would sing and "all of a sudden these songs would appear."

CareerPerri moved to Los Angeles, California on her 21st birthday. According to Perri, she felt terrified of being over 3000 miles away from her family, saying that she "cried her eyes out every day". Later that year she married, moved to Florida and began to produce music videos for a living. She divorced 18 months later and moved in to a small apartment on her own to focus entirely on working on music. She moved back to Philadelphia by the end of 2009; it was during this time that she wrote "Jar of Hearts". She later moved back to Los Angeles, waitressing at the Melrose Cafe during the day and recording at night.

In July 2011, Perri embarked on her first world tour, the Lovestrong Tour, which lasted for almost exactly a year and consisted of 71 dates. Perri released her single "A Thousand Years", which appeared on the soundtrack of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, on October 18, 2011. The song debuted at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 31, but has been certified 4× platinum with over 4 million sales in the US alone since. The song is Perri's most successful single to date. The album's third and final single, "Distance", was released on March 20, 2012.

A ve ry success fu l attorney parked his brand new Porsche 911 Turbo in front of his office, ready to show it off

to his colleagues. As he was getting out, a truck came barreling down the road, drifted right and completely tore off the driver's door. Fortunately, a cop was close enough to see the accident and pulled up behind the now door-less Porsche with his lights flashing.

Before the cop had a chance to ask any questions, the attorney started screaming hysterically about how his precious Porsche, which he had just purchased the day before, was completely ruined and no matter how any car body shop tried to make it new again, would never be the same. After the lawyer finally wound down from his rant, the cop shook his head in disbelief,

"I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said, "You are so focused on your possessions that you neglect the most important things in life." "How can you say such a thing?" asked the lawyer. The cop replied, "Don't you even realize that your left arm is missing? It was severed when the truck hit you!" "OHH, MY GOD!" screamed the lawyer. . "My Rolex!"

A young Italian girl was going on a date. Her Nonna said:'Sita here ana letame tella you about this-a younga boy. He's

agonna try ana kiss you, you are agonna likea dat, but don't let him do dat. He's

agonna try ana kiss your breasts, you are agonna likeadat too, but don'ta let him

do dat eeda. But mosta important, he's agonna try ana layon topa you, you are agonna really likea dat, but don'ta let him do

dat for sure. Doing thata willa disgraza our family.

With that bit of advice, the granddaughter went on her date. The

next day she told grandma that her date went just like she had predicte 'And Nonna, I didn't let him disgrace our

family as you said. When he tried to lay on top of me, I just rolled him over, got

on top of him, and disgraced HIS family!'Nonna fainted!!

BALI CEREMONIESCremation ceremoniesCremation ceremonies are inherently emotional because they are often themed with events and memories that tie to a loved one's life. A cremation ceremony effectively places the remains of the deceased in a location they once cherished while gathering those who remain for a time of reflection and mourning. The sense of closure and peace of mind offered through a cremation ceremony makes it an ideal choice for honoring those who pass away.Seaside CeremonyOver time, memories of a seaside cremation ceremony may bring comfort.A seaside ceremony provides a serene backdrop for family and friends to gather together for paying their respects to the deceased. Have guests read a prepared note with a few words expressing the i r memor ies and s e n t i m e n t s t o w a r d someone who has passed away. Family members often appreciate and enjoy hearing thoughts from others who were also close to a loved one, who will be greatly missed. After the readings, have a designated friend or family member scatter the ashes of the deceased into the sea for a peaceful and expansive resting place that exudes the power as well as the calm of the ocean.

Private Home CeremonyStore cremation remains in an urn or decorative canister. Choose a container featuring colors or a design that is subtly pleasing to the eye and blends with your home decor. There are many choices

available beyond the typified urns associated with cremation. Have a pastor, rabbi or spiritual leader oversee a quiet ceremony in the privacy of your home. Words from a religious leader are comforting and bring a sense of security during what is often a heartbreaking and incomprehensible experience. Invite family and close friends to the ceremony and plan to have dinner at the house afterwards. Request that guests bring a hot dish. Take comfort in the experience of gathering with people who are likely to prove a vital support system through the months ahead.

Birdhouse Urn Scattering CeremonyA cheerful birdhouse urn is a reminder that life never ends.Birdhouse urns designed for the natural scattering of cremation remains are a popular choice for those who believe in giving back to the earth for a continued cycle of life. Select a birdhouse urn for your backyard and invite friends and family over to place the urn and say a f e w w o r d s o f remembrance for a loved

one who has passed away. Over time, birds taking shelter in the birdhouse naturally scatter remains throughout the yard. Having a backyard or garden ceremony is an ideal way to honor the life and passing of someone who loved the outdoors.
