Closure
KIT, IIT Kanpur has created an excellent platform for teachers
and students to facilitate interaction with the best brains in the
country and outside. Through several workshops, short term
courses, online courses, symposiums etc. It has helped the
participants to become familiar with new and improved teaching
techniques and latest developments in their research field.
Attending the various KIT workshops has increased their
knowledge about various advanced topics. Through the
workshops and seminars which acted as training programs, the
students and faculty of the various TEQIP institutes got exposed
to the current research and technology. Most of these workshops
focused on emphasizing the key issues in the subject areas and
hence has prepared teachers to teach the students in a much more
effective manner. During these programs students from various
institutes got the chance to learn from the best professor and they
increased their knowledge as well. The summer internship and
visiting researcher program which has been launched as part of
the KIT activities has been appreciated by the students and
faculty members is providing a much needed exposure to
students and faculty of TEQIP institutes. Organizing more
programs like these can encourage several institute-institute
interactions which can encourage participants to explore future
research collaborations and discuss teaching methodologies so
that they can hone and expand their pedagogical skills for a
better teaching/learning environment.
The initiative taken by TEQIP is playing a key role in developing
research and teaching at the various participating institutes.
Through these interactions teachers of TEQIP affiliated
engineering institutes have learned new teaching concepts in
various fields which they can practice at their parent institute and
expand their pedagogical goals. TEQIP has helped the
23
participating institutes to improve their infrastructure at the
Institutions; it has enabled faculty participation in conferences
and workshops in India and abroad, and exposure to faculty
members to facilities and research work being carried out at
good universities. All this has encouraged them to improve and
expand their teaching and research skills. But more initiatives
are needed to further enhance the technical education in these
institutes. Setting up of an effective evaluation system can help
monitor the development/weakness of these institutes and on the
basis of these assessment reports the road ahead can be planned.
There are motivated teachers and students who are ready to work
hard and make a difference but a strong and equally motivated
administration system is crucial to help them and pave the way
to improvement in these institutes.
