Our Thanks to Victoria for her forward think-ing and getting the Member Satisfaction, Community Needs Analysis, and Club Meeting Re-structurings surveys out to all

Your feedback is important, we want to know what's on your mind, and how you think we can improve on the good we already do. Our Installation Dinner where we will install our new Presi-dent Victoria Davidson is scheduled for September 27. This is one event where all of us should be in attendance to show our support and con-vey our confidence to Victoria as she assumes her responsibil-ities as our fearless leader. We

Our meeting, to order at 7:00 AM by El Presidente. Dave Wallach led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, re-minding us all to keep our troops and all those who have sacrificed in order for us to enjoy our freedom and liberty. Lon Salgren led the patriotic song, his choice “Oh Beautiful”. El Presi-dente requested everyone to look at the flag while singing and not at him. Da-vid Malkin a “Labor Day” invocation. Club members

in attendance were Charlie Huff, Grace Chan, Izzeldin Osman, Kathy Young, Victo-ria Davidson, Lon Salgren, David Malkin, Dave Wal-lach, and Anna Wu. We had a great number of guests at our meeting; in fact they almost equaled the number of members in attendance. Our guest in attendance Austin An, Vice President Wilson Key Club who was introduces by Dave Wallach. Our guest speaker Clem Calvillo and

his associate Mathew Hud-son (spelled with one ‘t’) by David Malkin. David men-tioned he was happy to introduce Mathew because David’s son is named Mathew also, and he spells his name with one ‘t’ as well. Lon Salgren intro-duced our guest Ransom Murray of “Angels with Blue Jeans”. Anna Wu intro-duced her guests Dillie (Eddie) Yan, and Daniel Song from Golden Spark Labs, our potential new

corporate members. Victo-ria Davidson in her melodic voice led us in our “Welcome Song”. Another of Anna’s guests Tony Tseng joined us and Anna introduced him, and led us in singing of our “Welcome Song” for a second time. We acknowledged three birth-days, Keith Banes (09/05), Norma Manning (09/07), and Lon Salgren (09/09). Dave Wallach led us in the singing of the “Happy Birth-day” song. We thanked

The Kiwanis Club of Hacienda Heights meets 7:00 am on the 1st, 2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month at IHOP, 18261 Gale Ave, City of Industry. And 3rd Wednesday, 6 pm, at Casa Blanca, 15922 Gale Ave, Hacienda Heights.

Dave Wallach & Lon Salgren for their help with he KIWIN’S DCM, Park Clean Up and PTP fundrais-er. Lon pulled our cooking rig to Cortez Park and set it up. Dave cooked hamburg-ers for about 50 kids. All had a great time. We also thanked Lon Salgren, Dave Wallach, Victoria Davidson, Anna Wu, Grace & Steven for their help at the Steinmetz Park Health Fair. Our club members Kathy Young, Dave Wallach, Lon Salgren, and Susan Jacklin were acknowledged and thanked for their help with four successful inter-clubs.

We visited Sierra Madre, Glendora, Duarte, and El Monte clubs. Lon Salgren sold the “Split the Pot” tickets; a winning ticket was pulled by Justin declaring Lon as the winner of $100.00 ($10.00) Kiwanis Dollars. Kathy Young per-formed the pin & badge checks, and helped collect cans for Del Haven. Kathy Young pulling double duty circulated our donation cans. We collected $4.00 for Children’s Hospital, $2.00 for Relay for Life, and $24.00 for ELIMINATE. A total of $28.00 was contrib-uted by generous members

for Happy/Sad dollars. The “No Fines Badge” was up for grabs for the last time this year. Dave & Lon par-ticipated in the bidding which pursued, and Dave took the badge home with his high bid of $20.00 as El Presidente reluctantly handed it over to him (El Presidente was the holder of the badge last month). El Preidente was Mr. K, and reported that everyone was friendly but two of mem-bers failed to shake his hand. El Presidente citing the “Honor System” invited the unnamed members to contribute to one of our

donation cans. Hmm! we wonder who they were and if they did! In the true spirit of giving and having fun Victoria Davidson stood up and made a donation to the “Relay For Life” for arriving to the meeting after the bell had been rung. Thank You Victoria! El Presidente rang the bell at 8:30 AM, at which time the meeting was adjourned as we sang “Hail to Kiwanis”. Thank you all for attending our meeting and making it fun. Happy & Sad Dollars

Dave W – Happy because we had fun with the KIWIN’S at their DCM. Remember on Sept. 13th the KIWIN’S will be hoilding a car wash at Carl’s Jr. in Rowland Heights. The LTG took the Ice Bucket Challenge and challenged him and Mahmood . We plan to oblige the challenge at the car wash. Our membership has a po-tential of huge growth. Anna – Happy because she has 3 guest with her today. Her parents are in from China, doing ok but they have jet lag. She is excited but exhausted. Golden Sparks is having a project launch at STC Center on Wednesday, Sept. 10th at STC Center. Come out and see what it is all about. The more the merrier. Lon – Happy that he went to Urban Retreat but sad because they are closing at the end of the month. Hap-py because one of the Massage Therapists is going to his Chiropractors Office. Happy for our guests today. After doing the Inter-Club with Duarte, he has found a home for his washer & dryer. Happy because next week he will be visiting his Indian relatives. David M – Happy because STC Center Casino Night is in October. Cost is $45 per person. Happy that Ransom Murray from Angels with Blue Jeans is here at the meeting. He met him at the opening of Smart & Final in La Puente. He was able to make a donation to Shoes That Fit through and the credit goes to Kiwanis. Happy because Teri and he were able to visit the Luminasia display at the LA Fair. They were greeted by the Fair President and was able to enjoy the food buffet. Izzey – Happy because he repeating quoting Mahmood. The question is why do we celebrate birth-days, we are another year older and closer to the grave.

Grace – Happy for the guests in attendance this morn-ing. Mahmood – Sad because he forgot to give a Thank You last week to Dave W for purchasing the eggs and sau-sage for the Senior Pancake Breakfast. Even though he was not able to be there, he worked behind the scenes with the purchasing. Thank you for doing what you do. Sad because no one came around looking for the can goods or his pin and namebadge. Happy for our guests. Happy because Nancy called him at work and asked him to come home early. I was able to do it but she was not there, she was with Sara at the High School Football game. Went and picked up his Mom at his niece’s and his brother from Pakistan greeted hi at the door. It was a good & happy surprise to see him. Kathy – Happy because she received a call from Jim Stewart. He and Jean are settling in ok. Can almost see the floor of the garage. They were able to go into the city to babysit their grandson. He is 8 months old and is crawling and is teething. They are happy.

By Mahmood Bashir We have been busy visiting other clubs in our Division for past two weeks. We have successfully completed seven Inter-Clubs. We visited Sierra Madre, El Monte, Glen-dora (twice), Duarte, Monrovia, and West Covina where we joined them for their Installation Dinner and their very first evening meeting. Our Thanks to Kathy Young for scheduling these Inter-Clubs and joining Dave Wallach, Lon Salgren, Su-san Jacklin, Victoria Davidson, and Nancy Bashir for success-fully completing them. Special Thanks go out to Kathy, Lon, Dave, and Susan for attending most of the. Thank You for your dedication and willingness to see our club shine and com-plete one of its goals for the year. These Inter-Clubs are fun, we encourage all our members to attend one before the end of September. If you don't recall that you have attended one or not, please ask Kathy and she will be more than glad to check her records and let you know. There are plenty of op-portunities in the coming few weeks as many clubs have their Installation Dinners coming up. You can help our club com-plete its goal of a "Super Round Robin" by attending. We need all of our members to attend at least one Inter-Club this year in order to reach this very simple and basic goal. Be a team player, make yourself available and join us for fun, camaraderie, and a sense of achievement.
