Kingfisher Public Schools Food Pantry
Drive By: Clairanda Porter/kk
The Kingfisher Public Schools
Food Pantry is once again giving all Yel-
lowjackets and their families the oppor-
tunity to donate food for it’s local food
pantry. The FOOD DRIVE will be held
from Oct. 12 to Oct. 22.
Bring the donations to your 4th
hour teacher and the class that has
brought the most will receive a pizza party.
If you are capable of participating, please bring your food to school. Foods that are rec-
ommended include; canned meat (tuna, chicken, corn beef), canned vegetables and fruits, dried
goods (rice, pasta, beans, ramen noodles, etc), soups, or any non-perishable items will be accept-
ed. Now is the time to dive into your canned goods stockpiles in your house and pull all those
canned foods you hate, but your Dad likes and your parents force you to eat, and donate them for a
great cause...feeding your neighbors. You know the ones. Creamed corn. Green beans. Mixed
greens. Vegetarian Chili. And the ever dreaded, Veg-All…whatever that is.
The Food Drive is being brought to us by Lynn Barnett, Kingfisher Education Director,
Paula Leffingwell, Kingfisher High Scholl Counselor, Jamie Scammahorn, and Kingfisher Native
American Counselor.
Big thanks goes to all who participate.
Can you spot the members of the Kingfisher High School Pride Marching Band in the mass of 1500+ band students from all over Oklaho-
ma who participated in SWOSU’s Homecoming Massed Band event? KHS alums who currently attend SWOSU are amongst the crowd
including Caitlyn Niestemski, Devan Bettancourt and Maci Eminger. Band story on Page 5.

Kingfisher vs Seminole By: Logan Hightower/ss
Kingfisher played Seminole Friday night, but sadly,
they lost. The team was expected to have a difficult match
against their opponent and The Yellow Jackets did bring a fight,
but it just wasn’t enough to keep them from scoring.
The Jackets played well in the first quarter and came
out hard in the end of it, but after multiple tries Seminole finally
scored to make it 7-0. Nothing too much happened in that quar-
ter.
The Second Quarter came around and the Yellow Jack-
ets tried to get another touch down again. They finally got one
making it 7-7, but as soon as they scored Seminole came out and
scored again to make it 7-14. Seminole also scored again in to
make it 21-7.
As the Third Quarter happened the Jackets and the
Chiefs were going back to back. First, the chiefs came and
scored to make it 28-7, but after another position, the Jackets
scared again to make it 14-28.
Finally, the Fourth Quarter came, and that was one
heck of a fight. The teams clashed and fought, but finally Semi-
nole scored to make it 34-14. After that, the Yellow Jackets
scored again, making it 34-21, but the chiefs did not give up and
kept their lead making it 40-21.
This game was interesting, but another tough loss for
the Yellow Jackets.

Senior Profile: Robert Reid By: Laryn Schemmer/dt
This weeks Senior of the Week is Robert Colin Reid. He was born February 27th, 1998, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to parents Gary
and Christine Reid. He also has one older sister, Ellyn, who is 20 years old. Robert, also known as Bobbert or Robby, has one cat named
Nyx and one dog named Sadie.
“Robby” is in band and his favorite subject is college psychology. Mr. Kaya takes the cake for being his favorite teacher. Robert
plans on going to Oklahoma Christian for something involving music. In the future he sees himself as a missionary traveling the world.
Bobbert’s favorite movies are, “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” and “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” His
favorite video games are, “Fallout,” and “Skyrim.” His favorite TV shows are, “Modern Family,” and “Archer.” Robert’s hobbies include
skating, drumming, singing, and playing on the guitar.
As music is a massive part of his life, he will usually be listening to his favorite type of music, rock, on the KATT in his white,
1996 F-150. Robert loves to listen to his favorite bands 21 Pilots and Fit for a King, and his favorite song is, “Stressed Out,” coincidentally,
by 21 Pilots.
Reid’s favorite holiday is Christmas. His favorite animal is a dog. Bobbert’s favorite place to shop is the internet. His favorite
color is blue. At a restaurant it is very likely that you will find that Robby will order a steak. Afterwards he might want to stop and get his
favorite candy, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. His best friend is Harrison Powell, who he loves almost as much as Reese’s Peanut Butter
Cups.
He states that his most embarrassing moment is, “Middle School in general.” Having slept for 30 straight hours is one of his big-
gest achievements. “I’m actually a dog masquerading as a human,” says Reid. He will miss the “wonderful food” at KHS the most.
His advice to underclassmen is to, “Stop being underclassmen.”
His words to his fellow Seniors are, “Stop acting like underclassmen.”

KHS Pride Takes Third in 4A
Competition By: Stinger Staff
KHS Band Director extraordinaire Dakota Horn is a Bull-
dog. At least he was when he attended Southwestern Oklahoma
State University as a trombone instrumentalist. Mr. Horn recently
took the entire KHS Pride Marching band back to his alma mater to
participate in this years homecoming parade in Weatherford.
The parade is a competition where high school bands from
across the state march and compete for trophies and bragging rights
in the prestigious competition.
This year, the Pride marched in the 4A class and included
the middle school band students in their routine. While other
schools chose to break out their middle school students to compete
on their own, Mr. Horn and Assistant Band Director Mandy Owens,
chose to include the KMS noobs in the competition. Together, they
placed Third in the 4A class.
Drum Majors Trena Adams and and Caroline Powell ac-
cepted the trophy at the Massed Band event, which takes place after
the parade marching competition (see picture on front page).

Iron Man in the U.S Army? Opinion by: Logan Hightower/ls
The United States Military is soon making an “Iron
Man” suit, that has a battery protective exoskeleton, removes
stains on the body, and provides a “chest plate,” or shield to the
chest, and a heavy protected helmet, so tragedies breaching plac-
es in war can’t hurt you as bad.
The United States Military is coming up with new suits
that can deflect most bullets with its armor. It’s called project
“TALOS” (Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit).
This all started 2 years ago when an American Com-
mando died kicking in a door during a raid in Afghanistan. This
will mostly help with raids/breaches to places, like Afghanistan,
or even Syria. I.S.I.S. fighting, Pentagon spokesman, Lt. Cmdr.
Mat Allen said, “The Defense Department does not know how
much TALOS will cost.”
If you think that this suit will make it harder for the
military to be tactical, you’re wrong. This suit is light weight, and
it isn’t heavy for them. I think this suit will help the military
greatly, while dealing with I.S.I.S. or enemies that come our way.
Even though it doesn’t have the ability to fly like, “Iron
Man,” it still can kick butt, just like in the movie.
The History of Cartoon
Network Opinion by: Clairanda Porter/dt
Cartoon Network has
been around since 1992. The
Looney Tones and Hanna-
Barbera were the first cartoons
shown. In the late 90’s
“Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Johnny
Bravo,” “Sheep in the Big
City,” “Ed, Edd, N’Eddy,” and
“Cow and Chicken” were some
of the most popular and contin-
ue to gain popularity as the younger generations place their eyes on the
history of what Cartoon Network was.
Many older fans of Cartoon Network believe with all their
hearts that in 2004, Cartoon Network was put to its doom. Shows were
moved around and new ones were added, including; “Miguzi,”
“Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,” “Hi-Hi Puffy AmiYumi,”
“Atomic Betty,” “Juniper Lee,” and “My Gym Partner’s a Monkey.”
These shows were despised by the children of the 90’s. Not only was
the show line-up changed, but Boomerang was also taken off the air a
few months before the shows were changed.
Nowadays “Clarence,” “Adventure Time,” “The Amazing
World of Gumball,” “Regular Show,” “Teen Titans GO!,” “Uncle
Grandpa,”, “Steven Universe,” “Mixles,” “Sonic Boom,” “Pokemon
the Series:XY,” and “LEGO NINJAGO: Masters of Spinjitzu,” make
the show line up. I personally love and watch all the new episodes of
“Steven Universe.”
I understand where the original fans of the Cartoon Network
channel are coming from, but why can’t we be friends? (song refer-
ence)

Cats Everywhere!!!! Opinion by: Teresa Rangel/kk
I was slowly scrolling through Trending
on Tumblr the other day just tumbling out of bore-
dom when I noticed cats, yes cats, dominated the
internet. “Why?” I asked myself. Why internet
have you shown me this when I have such weak-
ness for this cute and fluffy abomination? Why are
humans so submissive to such primitive animal
when we are the current dominant species.
We think cats are cute, since psychologically speaking humans
find “baby features” like large eyes, small noses, large foreheads, dispro-
portionately large heads, etc. to be absolutely adorkable.
The cause of this is because humans have the instinct for help-
ing our totally helpless young stay alive, which consequently we also ex-
tend this to animals that share the same characteristics as human babies.
Cats tend to share these infantile traits with babies such as curiosity, play-
fulness, coyness, and of course the affection.
In the end cats are the doom of humanity with their manipulative
meows that they adapt to control your behavior, like when they want food
they will make their meowing cries more urgent. They retain their kitten
vocal signals so that they can communicate with their masters to make
them bow before them like slaves.
Attention KHS Seniors! If you haven’t taken your senior pictures, then better get on the phone and find someone to take them, since Mrs. Hubbard, the
Yearbook Advisor, is giving her final warning.
All Senior Pictures are due by this Thursday, October 15. You must turn them into Mrs. Hubbard as there are no exceptions.
“What could possibly happen if I don’t turn mine in,” you may be asking yourself. If you do not turn one in, your panel picture (gulp,
gasp) will be used in the yearbook instead. While many students are perfectly happy with using the generic school picture as their year-
book pic, many students elect to take a more personal photo of themselves used, that represents who they are and what they like. If this
sounds like you, then get your pictures taken and get them to Mrs. Hubbard as soon as possible.
Below are some senior pictures taken by Stinger Staff Photographer Cricket Kaya of some fellow KHS Seniors.

Presidential Candidate Assignment By: Capacine Watan/kk
Recently I was assigned a project in Sophomore English to summarize what the media was
saying about some of the Presidential candidates for the 2016 – 2020 election. The candidates
we had to look at were as follows:
Hillary Clinton
Lincoln Chafee
Donald Trump
Jeb Bush
Ben Carson
Overall, the media says different things about all of them, mostly negative and some-
times positive. Actually, very rarely does the media say nice things about the candidates.
I’ve read more positive things about Hillary Clinton than anybody else. One of the
things I’ve read was that she’s going to help us get ahead and stay ahead in life. Probably
meaning that she’s going to help us with money issues that some families have. Because some
families start making good money but then for some reason they start struggling.
The worst stuff I’ve read about in the media was about Donald Trump. Like the reac-
tion he got when he told people that “we should just curse out OPEC” when talking about how
to keep oil prices low.
Other critics say that he deals with things negatively and usually ends up cursing
people out to get people to think how he thinks they should think.
I’m kinda glad we were assigned this assignment since I had very little idea who the
people were that running and now I know at least a few. There are a lot more than those I’ve
listed.
