Would you know how to answer? If you’re like me--probably you wouldn’t. I mean, what kind of question is that, anyway! And besides what is a passion, exactly? It’s kind of like this unquenchable fire inside of you that just Will.Not.Go.Out. Moses had this--literally. God called him to a particular task with a very real fire from a bush. Tonight we take our cue from Moses and try to discover what our “burning bushes” might be! Moses’ story as God wanted it to be told? It’s epic. We’re going to try to be epic, too, with a game of EPIC ball tonight! What’s EPIC ball, you ask? It’s like ultimate Frisbee with a GIANT ball and a few variations, So, yeah: come and be epic. Our August student is Alyssa Ashurst! Swing by the display case in the IMPACT/Cornerstone Room & read about Alyssa! Coming Soon: We here in the IMPACT group want to make our newly promoted mem- bers feel as welcome as possible. We’re going to do this bulletin board style! So, parents and guardians please forward a picture of your newly promoted student to me at [email protected]. Parents and Friends: Please check the Youth Bulletin Board in the hallway for opportunities to serve a light meal for the Youth Impact Meetings. Why Lay Ministry? Stephen Ministry is based on the idea that all Christians are ministers. The responsibility for passing on God’s love is for all Christians, not just for a chosen few. God has given us all gifts for ministry and called us to put those gifts to use. Stephen Ministry is a way people with special gifts for caring ministry can use those gifts to bring Christ’s love to people in need. A new Stephen Ministry Training Class is set to begin on Tuesday, September 11 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The 50 hrs. of Stephen Ministry training is broken down into 25 two-hour sessions held at Ellijay First. John VanNamen will be teaching this training. Please see John, Gwen, or contact the church office if you feel led to be a part to this Ministry! We ask of the congregation to pray for our Stephen Ministry. Why Lay Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is based on the idea that all Christians are ministers. The responsibility for passing on God’s love is for all

Christians, not just for a chosen few. God has given us all gifts for ministry and called us to put those gifts to use. Stephen Ministry is a way people with special gifts for caring ministry can use those gifts to bring Christ’s love to people in need.

A new Stephen Ministry Training Class is set to begin on Tuesday, September 11 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The 50 hrs. of Stephen Ministry training is broken down into 25 two-hour sessions held at Ellijay First.

John VanNamen will be teaching this training. Please see John, Gwen, or contact the church office if you feel led to be a part to this Ministry!

Camp Meeting Month!

Emmaus Gathering

Ellijay FUMC & Cartecay UMC will host a Gathering for the

North Georgia Walk to Emmaus Community at our

church on Saturday, August 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All

alumni of Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis, Tres Dias, or similar

retreat weekends are encouraged to come. Anyone

interested in seeing what Walk to Emmaus is about is also invited. Great music, short

testimonials, and FOOD! It is traditional at Emmaus

Gatherings for those who attend to bring a finger food,
