Master Station or Base Station These are units that can control the system,i.e., initiate a call with any of the stations and make announcements over the wholesystem.

Sub-station Units that are capable of only initiating a call with a Master Stationbut not

capable of initiating calls with any other stations (sometimes called slave units).

Door Station ike sub!stations, these units are only capable of initiating a call toa Master Station. They are typically weather!proof.

Wireless intercoms"or installations where it is not desirable or possible to run wires to support an intercomsystem, wireless intercom systems are available. There are two ma#or bene$ts of awireless

intercom system over the traditional wired intercom. The $rst is that installation is mucheasier since no wires have to be run between intercom units. The second is that you caneasily move the units at any time. %ith that convenience and ease of installation comesarisk of interferenceinterferencefrom other wireless and electrical devices.

Coa.ial cable or coa. is a type of cable that has an inner conductor surroundedby a tubular insulating layer, surrounded by a tubular conducting shield. Manycoa7ial cables also have an insulating outer sheath or #acket. The term coa7ialcomes from the inner conductor and the outer shield sharing a geometric a7is.0oa7ial cable was invented by 'nglish engineer and mathematician =liver*eaviside, who patented the design in 55. 0oa7ial cable di?ers from othershielded cable used for carrying lower fre6uency signals, in that the dimensions of

the cable are controlled to give a precise, constant conductor spacing, which isneeded for it to function eHciently as a transmission line.

    A. Outer plastic sheath

    B. Woven copper shield

    C. Inner dielectric insulator

    D. Copper core

Cable tele3ision is a system of delivering television programming to payingsubscribers via radio fre6uency (@") signals transmitted through coa7ial cables orlight pulses through $ber optic cables. This contrasts with broadcast television, inwhich the television signal is transmitted over the air by radio waves and received bya television antenna attached to the television. "M radio programming, high!speed2nternet, telephone service, and similar nontelevision services may also be provided

through these cables.- cable channel (sometimes known as a cable network) is a television networkavailable via cable television. %hen available through satellite television, includingdirect broadcast satellite providers such as BirecT:, Bish Fetwork and Sky, as wellas via 21T:, it is referred to as a satellite channel.
