KFPS NEWS: No. 15 Wednesday 27th May, 2020 Dear Parents and friends, Welcome to Week 7 and the wonderful return of our Foundaon to Grade 2 students and all of our staff on site. We have totally missed you and I wish to thank our students and fam- ilies for such a smooth drop off and pick-up over the last 2 days. I have been so impressed with the resilience of our youngest students to just get on with the job at hand of learning back in the classroom. Both Mrs Marn and I have greeted students at either the Gym or Bike shed gates and have enjoyed seeing some really big smiles to be back! Of course I think the smiles of some of our parents were indeed much bigger!! So many of our F/1/2s have grown taller, have lost some teeth or are rocking new hairstyles. I have taken the opportunity to take some photos of our students back at school – whether it is in the classroom, in PMP or Music, or having 1:1 assessments. I wish to thank our parents and carers for taking over the teaching and learning over the past 6 weeks – you have done a fabulous job in such trying circumstances. Please read.…REMOTE LEARNING – Attendance check-ins for Grade 3-6

As part of our attendance expectation, we need to know that students are up and ready to learn. The timetable has key times for your child/ren to log on and meet with their teachers. Roll call happens at 9:30am each day with their classroom teach-er. If your student misses a day on the Webex then they will be marked as absent from schooling that day. We are expected to keep accurate records of students’ ‘attendance and engagement’ whilst in remote learning so we are asking our Grade 3-6 students to ensure that they get on to the WebEx every morning and register your attendance with your teacher. If the online Webex forum is proving too difficult for you or your child then I ask that parents register their child’s daily attendance through an email or phone call to the school or through the parent portal to your child’s teachers. So if your child has not engaged with the school online during the scheduled times each day OR you have not made contact with the school or your child’s teachers then that will be marked as a non -attendance. SENTRAL Parents can log onto the parent portal on Sentral and review your child’s attendance for this term. If you feel that it is not correct please contact the office or message us through the portal providing an explanation. Calendar of events – Important Dates

By Rayelene

Ingredients: 2 tablespoon oil 500g mince beef 2 teaspoons of beef stock powder 1 teaspoon of curry powder 1 packet of chicken noodle soup mix ½ cabbage, shredded 1 red capsicum, sliced 2 carrots, peeled and thinly sliced 250g whole baby beans 150g corn 2 pkts two minute noodles Water (approx. 2 cups)

Method: 1. Heat oil in a large frying pan and lightly brown the mince. 2. In a large cup add stock powder, curry powder, chicken noodle soup, add 1 cup water cold

water and stir to combine. 3. Add the liquid mixture to the meat, along with the carrots and bring to boil. Simmer covered over a low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 4. Add the shredded cabbage, beans, capsicum, corn and noodles, enough water to almost

cover everything and again simmer covered for around 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 5. Serve immediately when cabbage is cooked to your liking.

Tips:

You could use pork, chicken or lamb mince to mix up the flavours of this dish.

Also try adding prawns, water chestnuts, broccoli, mushrooms.

You could also use rice in place of the noodles, they will just take longer to cook through and may need a little more water.

Use liquid chicken stock in place of water, it really makes a difference to the flavour.

This meal is quick to cook, so remember to stir occasionally as it may stick to the bottom of the pan.
