Blue St ar Review News from Kawana Waters Surf Club

WELCOME to another season!!We're at the beginning of a new season, our 31st, with lots happening around the club, and gearing up for the start of patrolson Saturday 18th September.

There's lots of info in this newsletter for nippers and actives so read on....

Most important is that your membership renewal is now due. Your renewal forms are attached to this newsletter, soplease get them returned to the office, along with the payment as soon as possible. This ensures your insurance stayscurrent, and your Supporters Club card can be ordered. You need to check all the details provided, and update wherenecessary, including new licence details, and remember to put in email addresses, particularly the parents - mum and dadbecause our reports run from the eldest male at each household address.

The cost of your Supporters membership is included in your surf club fee, which are as follows for the 2010/11 season:

    Active Senior (over 18) $65

    Long Service, Active Reserve $60

Award $60Active Junior and Cadet $55

    Associate $75

    Family membership:

    1 or 2 parents and 1 child $160

    1 or 2 parents and 2 children $170

1 or 2 parents and 3 or more children $180

We've absorbed much of the rise in Workcover, however our fees have risen marginally. We have to pay Workcover for everyadult over 18 years of age, including nipper parents.

Payment can be made on credit card by phone if that option is easier, and renewals can also be done at our Open Day onSunday 29th August, but I suggest you have all forms filled in prior to save you some time.

PATROLSPatrol teams and rosters are being formulated at present, which you will receive as soon as they arefinalised. Contact Dan Donahoe, our Club Captain with any queries on [email protected]

As mentioned, our start date is Saturday 18th September, which is only about a month away.

More information will be following on Proficiency Days so be sure to have your pool swim done and

signed off, prior to commencing your proficiency, which needs to be done by end of December.

IN CONCLUSIONFinally a bit about Blue Cards, which has changed this year. On the website, there are a selection, which are fairly selfexplanatory. If you're a volunteer, which most of our members are, use that one, or for renewals, the appropriate RenewalForm for Volunteers. The only difference is that if you're in the police force, or a teacher, there is now an Exemption Formfor you, or if you already have a blue card, there's a Confirmation Form (same as before). If you're in paid employment whereyou need a blue card, you should get that from your place of employment, and do a Confirmation here for your club'sactivities.

Many of you are coming up for renewals, so download the form off the website, fill it in, return it to the office with your 2pieces of ID (again) for signing off by us, and lodging to SLSQ on your behalf - no cost involved, except for paid employees.

So things are heating up, so get ready for another summer at the surf club!

    Sincerely,

    Jill WillisKawana Waters Surf Club
