St. Philip makes a special effort to have Church School classes designed for every age group. Church School is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for Sundays in July. Children & Youth

Birth-Age 2 children will hear Bible stories that are designed for young learners. Room 18

Ages 2 & 3 are studying “Life of Moses/Esther” from the Hands On Bible curriculum. Room 4

Ages 4 - 5th grade will be studying “Re-New” focusing on being good stewards of God’s creation. Classes in July will be at 9:00.

Jr. High and Sr. High will be using Feasting of the Word, which provides opportunities for this age group to explore their personal and communal identity in Jesus Christ through meaningful community building experiences, engaging bible study, and relevant learning activities. Biblical stories will come alive in new and creative ways. In response to God’s amazing, unconditional love, youth will be challenged to put their faith into action as they grow to understand themselves as Christ’s disciples.

Adults

The Joy Class is for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We combine instruction, music and crafts to teach adults the basics of the Christian faith. This class uses shared leadership and is studying compassion. Parlor

In July the Alpha Class is using the Present Word and will study July 3, Ignoring God’s Truth within Us, Romans 2:17-29. July10, We’re all Under Sin’s Power, Romans 3:9-20, July 17, God Set Things Right, Romans 3:21-31, July 24 starts Unit III: Life on God’s Terms, Not Without Hope, Romans 5:1-11, July 31, Death Becomes Life, Romans 6:1-4, 12-14, 17-23. Room A

In July the Feasting on the Word Class will be studying the following topics: July 3, Adults will reaffirm their own missional calling and sending by Jesus as Christ first called and sent apostles to Luke. Luke 10:25-27. July 10, Adults will identify practices that link neighbor and mercy today as Jesus commanded in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Luke 10:25-27. July 17, Luke’s story of Mary and Martha will challenge adults to confess what distracts them from moments of opportunity and need. Luke 10:38-42. July 24, Luke’s version of Jesus’ teaching of prayer will invite adults to renew their understanding of practice and prayer. Luke 11:1-13. July 31, Adults will assess personal and social consequences of greed by hearing Jesus’ call to be rich toward God. Luke 12:13-21.

Devotional Classics Covenant Group Tuesdays 7:30-p.m. in the Parlor

We will NOT meet July 12th due to conflicts with VBS

A covenant group is a group committed to read, study and discuss together their thoughts and reflections.

This covenant group will study together a book called “Devotional Classics.”

Like to Sing?

The Chancel Choir is singing “pick-up” anthems during the month of July—you pick up the anthem, you rehearse it a couple of

times, and you sing it in the worship service!

Come to the choir room at 9:30 a.m., practice the anthem and sing it at the 10:00

worship service!

The Chancel Choir will resume their normal weekly rehearsals, starting July

27th.
