With the publication of The Journal of Global Media Studies comes the first anniversary of the faculty

from which it takes its name. The papers to be found within represent the breadth and depth of research

that characterize the faculty, both tenured and adjunct. They allow readers a glimpse of the technolog-

ically-driven changes that are altering both the way we get information about the world in which we live

as well as the very information we get, reminding us of the challenges we face as informed citizens in a

free society. (the editors)
