Jonathan Law High School A Caring Community
February, 2018 Volume 20 , Number 5
From the Principal
Jonathan Law High School is a community that exists to maximize the intellectual, the social, and the emotional growth of each student in a safe, stable, supportive environment.
February 2018 Dear Friends, Welcome to the second semester! So often, students use this new beginning to vow to do better. I remember those times in high school when I would think things like, “This time I am going to set aside more time for homework,” or, “I will start my big projects much earlier this semester.” Many students set these types of goals and meet them with success. Other students fail to meet these very realistic goals simply because they do not share them with their friends, family, or teachers in a way that garners support or creates a concrete plan of action. I want to thank everyone for their continued support and commitment as we work to make Jonathan Law a community of learners and leaders. I have been able to spend a lot of time in classrooms and I continue to be impressed by the dedication and commitment of our faculty and staff to the success of our students. All of us at Jonathan Law share the belief that all students can succeed if they commit to working hard. We are here to help every step of the way. I encourage you to stay in contact with the staff, continue to monitor your child’s progress, and stay connected to the daily life of the students at Jonathan Law. Now more than ever, your support at home of the work we do here is imperative for our school to continue moving forward. The dedicated staff here understands that parents are the extension of the classroom teacher at home and we sincerely appreciate all you do to assist and support us to achieve our vision for the future. Here’s to a great second semester! Sincerely,

“Nineteen-year-old Mari is waiting out the night in an anonymous Denny’s when she meets a young man who insists he knows her older sister, thus setting her on an odyssey through the sleeping city. In the space of a single night, the lives of a diverse cast of Tokyo residents collide in a world suspended between fantasy and reality. Utterly enchanting and in-fused with surrealism, After Dark is a thrilling account of the magical hours separating midnight from dawn.”— Book description

Looking for a few good Children
The Child Development program at Jonathan Law High School is looking for preschool-aged children for our program for the 2017-2018 school year. These children should be three or four years of age, live within the Milford school district, and are required to be fully potty trained. Our program meets two mornings per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, usually between the hours of 7:20 and 10:20. The high school students who are in the Child Development courses work with the children as they play and interact with their peers.
We like to think of our class as an enrichment experience for children. Although not a traditional preschool program, we incorporate arts and crafts as well as other learning centers where children can work on physical, intellectual, emotional, social and moral development. They learn appropriate ways to resolve problems and interact in socially acceptable ways with their peers.
For further information and to enroll your child for this fall, please contact Ms. Barbara McCoy at 203-783-3574 ext. 6571 or email [email protected]. We currently have spots available on a first-come, first served basis. Give us a call today!
And did I mention the best part? It’s FREE!
