Requirements Prior to Internship

All required courses must be completed (39 credits) Practicum in Counseling (Advanced

Techniques) Submit Internship Eligibility and Approval

Form Complete Application For Internship Submit a cover letter and resume addressed for

internship placement

Requirements Prior to Internship

Provide tuberculosis (TB) test results Provide evidence of a criminal background

check and fingerprinting in advance of internship placement

All requirements are due by March 1, 2011

Important!! The Field Experience Coordinator will contact all

districts for internship placements. Students who are teachers or paraeducators may

not complete internships at their schools-of-employment

Requirements for Successful Completion of Internship

Register for SC Internship Course (863.820) Complete 600 Hours (6 credits) in K-12 public

school setting 300 hours each semester 240 hrs. of direct service (120/per semester)

Minimum of 1 hr per week of site supervision Must be in school between 1-2 full days (8

hours) per week

Requirements for Successful Completion of Internship

1 and ½ hours per week of university supervision

Mid-semester and Final Evaluation of student performance

Submission of at least one audio/visual tape recording of work with students at site

Two Advocacy Projects Complete School Counselor Digital Portfolio

Evaluations and Forms

All internship forms will be available on the ELC

Site Supervisors will complete evaluations on ELC

Any additional information needed for internship placement will be sent via email or available on ELC
