As we have said many times we are committed to Peakhurst being our custom stand production facility as well as repairs and maintenance and furniture production. We have completed the relocation of the Auburn production area to Peakhurst which includes Jason Bauerhuit and his team.
Congratulations must go to Tracey Simko and Matthew Simmons who are dong a tremendous job with the integration of FMI into Auburn. It is difficult with the different systems
and also given how busy FMI has been with Foodpro, Sydney Boat and Melbourne Gift and Home Show almost back to back.
Also congratulations to Michiel Harris, Rodd Craig and everyone who worked on Reeds Gift Fair in Melbourne. We had good feedback from Reeds.
The new offices at 39 Princes Rd should be ready by end of September. The accounts team will be the first to relocate followed by Rocky, Jim, Greg and the telemarketing team.
INTEGRATION OF EHS - AE - FMI
This Newsletter will be published for the staff of exhibition hire across all states every three months. It is designed to keep everyone up to date with the latest company news, events, people and new jobs. Anyone with information for the newsletter should send their story [email protected]
Rocky Bruzzano has signed off on our phone and IT network provider and we hope to begin connecting all branches to the one IT system over the next few months (depending on how quick Telstra is). New mobile phones will be rolled out in October and we will review all individual IT requirements at this time.
It is important all staff understand that they are responsible for the
IT AND CADequipment they are issued including mobile phones and laptops and if they are lost or damaged they are replaced at your own cost.
Roberta Simi has completed her training on the EHS CAD/BOM software and she is now back at Peakhurst to train the other designers in this software. This will be a very useful tool to assist with the costing of Octanorm system
custom stands at Peakhurst.

Phil Wright and his team have been kept busy doing a number of projects and also helping out with Melbourne Gift. Special thanks must go to Jammer who really did an amazing job under difficult circumstances to get through all the electrics for this show.
We have had to put implementation of our systems and procedures into Melbourne on hold until we sort out Peakhurst. We hope to be able to focus on the Melbourne branch in terms of stock and administration after we get over a very busy September period.
Matthew Desprez and everyone in Qld had a ballistic May particularly with Sanctuary Cove Boat Show which was a huge success.They have reorganised the offices to cater for more staff. These include Conrad Yates as a shell manager and Brad Maye as an account manager.
Exhibition Hire realise we all need to contribute to saving our environment. Our first of many initiatives is to recycle our office paper & paper products and plastic.

We have now decided to replace the combined logo and name EHS-AE-FMI, and we will be just Exhibition Hire. Jacqui Wallace will be responsible for updating the branding accross the company.
We are revamping our website over the next few months to put more attention and information into the custom stand area. There will be plenty of examples of the high quality custom stands we have produced and this should be a great sales tool for all the custom stand account managers. We are also producing a new brochure just for custom stands which will be available by mid September.

It was disappointing to find $13,000 of electrical cabling had been stolen from the Bankstown warehouse in the last month. All staff need to be aware that the police have been notified and they may require some staff to attend interviews. If you see any unusual actions by people or have any concerns about the security of our equipment please let your Manager know immediately. All staff should also know that theft of anything will result in instant dismissal.

In July we held functions to thank everyone for a fantastic effort in the past few months, particularly in May. In Sydney we had 117 people attend a breakfast at Sydney Olympic Park; we had a breakfast for the Brisbane/Gold Coast staff and a lunch for all the Melbourne staff. It has come to our attention that some staff that have left EH have taken some forms (labour, electrical etc.) or are contacting current staff and asking for some of our forms, templates and company info to be sent to them. It is a breach of everyone’s employment agreements to send our Intellectual Property to other people. Please tell them to invent their own systems and procedures!

I collated all information and articles, was responsible for photography of all images, creating the design and layout and managing the print production and distribution.
An inventive project was recently completed at Macarthur Square, a three-level shopping centre at Campbelltown comprising more than 300 specialty stores. Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was tasked with designing and building an in-centre display structure to enable the shopping centre to successfully launch its new seasons of fashion. Known as “The Fashion Pod”, the structure is 11m long x 3m wide and incorporates custom counters, make-up mirrors, mannequins, AV, signage and display cases. Easily adaptable, the structure has housed displays, events, giveaways and more and will be reinstalled twice a year at Macarthur Square to coincide with fashion season launches.

The curtain has come down on the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games,
10-18 October, an aged-based event comprising 28 different sports at 72
venues. Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was responsible for building the Games
Centre, which included the Health and Lifestyle Expo, Uniform Centre,
Accreditation Centre and the weightlifting competition. We also produced
a number of wayfinding signs required for the Games Precinct, including an
impressive 10.7m x 6m entrance banner. The event was an overwhelming
success for organisers, attracting a record 28,000 competitors from 95
countries.
A record 23,398 entrants greeted the starter’s gun at the 31st Gold Coast Airport Marathon in July and Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was involved behind the scenes – and out on the course. In addition to building the sport exhibition and registration area, our Brisbane/Gold Coast office also put together a team of runners for the event. Our local suppliers helped out by sponsoring the racing shirts and the team was treated to beautiful Queensland weather for the coastline run. Everyone completed the course in heroic fashion, posting some nice finish times in the process. Well done to everyone involved!

Steve and his crew have moved into the old design area, which provides a more open plan and modern environment. And Dale, Glenn, Marco and Tim have relocated to their new portable at the rear of the main warehouse.
In April, we also opened a 4000 square metre manufacturing and storage facility in Altona – just 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. The state-of-the-art facility features a 4m x 2m CNC router, 4m x 5m spray booth, edgebanders and panel saws. The onsite storage can also accommodate up to 1000 pallets safely and securely in purpose built racking.

Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire built 350 dog boxes for the prize-winning pooches at the Royal Melbourne Show in September. The innovative boxes showcased both the creativity of our designers and the flexibility of the Octanorm system outside an exhibition environment. The design concept can be adjusted and built to accommodate dogs of all sizes and organisers of the Royal Melbourne Show plan to use the new boxes for a number of years to come.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Ian “Stokes” Stoker, who passed away suddenly on 9 October. He was known as the gentle giant – a man who was hardworking, resourceful, patient, and had a calming influence on often stressed out organisers. At Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire, no task was too big, too small or too difficult for “Stokes”. If you were working with him on a project, you knew you were working with one of the best.

NEW STAFF
An inventive project was recently completed at Macarthur Square, a three-level shopping centre at Campbelltown comprising more than 300 specialty stores. Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was tasked with designing and building an in-centre display structure to enable the shopping centre to successfully launch its new seasons of fashion. Known as “The Fashion Pod”, the structure is 11m long x 3m wide and incorporates custom counters, make-up mirrors, mannequins, AV, signage and display cases. Easily adaptable, the structure has housed displays, events, giveaways and more and will be reinstalled twice a year at Macarthur Square to coincide with fashion season launches.

Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was heavily involved in the 2009 Woolworths Conference in Melbourne, laying more than 23,000 carpet tiles, installing over 850 lineal metres of 3.4 high black panels, and installing more than 450 light fittings and power points. Our team also built a total of 7,500 square metres of custom stands and displays, incorporating 90 fridges/ freezers.
In a first for Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire, we also manufactured and installed a 43 metre long and 3 metre deep curved banner across the rear of the produce display. This banner became a major feature for the conference.
This was our first Woolworths Conference as an integrated company and our production facilities in Melbourne and Sydney did an exceptional job. The displays were of the highest quality and the client remarked on the attention to detail several times. The efforts of our Sydney and Melbourne staff helped make the 2009 conference “the best so far”.

[ExpoNet re-branding] Exhibition Hire / ExpoHire announced the start of a rebranding process that will see the company change its name to ExpoNet on 1 February 2010. Established in 1980, Exhibition Hire undertook a significant acquisition program in 2008, acquiring the AE Group in February, Onsite Power & Light in August and Expo Hire in September. The name ExpoNet was first conceived 20 years ago by the principals of Expo Hire and Exhibition Hire when, as two of Australia’s leading exhibition suppliers, they decided a national approach was needed to market the industry and its services. The re branding was part of an ongoing integration strategy to ensure a smooth transition for all staff and clients and reinforced the professionalism and unity of the combined company.

From concept to completion working with Qantas I was part of the creative team to provide a theme to be used at the Jetset Conference at Jupiter’s Casino on the Gold Coast. From developing the theme, designing backdrops, organising costumes, sound and lighting, power point presentations and photography we achieved an extremely successful and creative result for the event.

As we have said many times we are committed to Peakhurst being our custom stand production facility as well as repairs and maintenance and furniture production. We have completed the relocation of the Auburn production area to Peakhurst which includes Jason Bauerhuit and his team.
Congratulations must go to Tracey Simko and Matthew Simmons who are dong a tremendous job with the integration of FMI into Auburn. It is difficult with the different systems
and also given how busy FMI has been with Foodpro, Sydney Boat and Melbourne Gift and Home Show almost back to back.
Also congratulations to Michiel Harris, Rodd Craig and everyone who worked on Reeds Gift Fair in Melbourne. We had good feedback from Reeds.
The new offices at 39 Princes Rd should be ready by end of September. The accounts team will be the first to relocate followed by Rocky, Jim, Greg and the telemarketing team.

ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER
An inventive project was recently completed at Macarthur Square, a three-level shopping centre at Campbelltown comprising more than 300 specialty stores. Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was tasked with designing and building an in-centre display structure to enable the shopping centre to successfully launch its new seasons of fashion. Known as “The Fashion Pod”, the structure is 11m long x 3m wide and incorporates custom counters, make-up mirrors, mannequins, AV, signage and display cases. Easily adaptable, the structure has housed displays, events, giveaways and more and will be reinstalled twice a year at Macarthur Square to coincide with fashion season launches.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Ian “Stokes” Stoker, who passed away suddenly on 9 October. He was known as the gentle giant – a man who was hardworking, resourceful, patient, and had a calming influence on often stressed out organisers. At Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire, no task was too big, too small or too difficult for “Stokes”. If you were working with him on
BACK IN FASHION
The curtain has come down on the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games,
10-18 October, an aged-based event comprising 28 different sports at 72
venues. Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was responsible for building the Games
Centre, which included the Health and Lifestyle Expo, Uniform Centre,
Accreditation Centre and the weightlifting competition. We also produced
a number of wayfinding signs required for the Games Precinct, including an
impressive 10.7m x 6m entrance banner. The event was an overwhelming
success for organisers, attracting a record 28,000 competitors from 95
countries.
A record 23,398 entrants greeted the starter’s gun at the 31st Gold Coast Airport Marathon in July and Exhibition Hire / Expo Hire was involved behind the scenes – and out on the course. In addition to building the sport exhibition and registration area, our Brisbane/Gold Coast office also put together a team of runners for the event. Our local suppliers helped out by sponsoring the racing shirts and the team was treated to beautiful Queensland weather for the coastline run. Everyone completed the course in heroic fashion, posting some nice finish times in the process. Well done to everyone involved!
Our Melbourne office has undergone a metamorphosis in recent months and the office dynamic has really taken shape as a result. Gavin and his design team have settled in with the custom account managers and Andy and Renai, the custom estimating team. Steve and his crew have moved into the old design area, which provides a more open plan and modern environment. And Dale, Glenn, Marco and Tim have relocated to their new portable at the rear of the main warehouse.
In April, we also opened a 4000 square metre manufacturing and storage facility in Altona – just 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. The state-of-the-art facility features a 4m x 2m CNC router, 4m x 5m spray booth, edgebanders and panel saws. The onsite storage can also accommodate up to 1000 pallets safely and securely in purpose built racking.
