Adrianwasthe lifeandsoulofTheBears. OvertheyearshehastransformedthelivesofmanyofTheBearsCubsas their coach. As captain of the third division team,Adrian inspired all that knew him. He believed in playerseven though they did not believe in themselves.
As assistant coach to the WDL women's team Adrianhas helped to pave a new beginning in the basketballworld. He often spoke passionately about thedevelopmentofourplayers,equallyencouraging juniorsand females players to play the game.
It was an honour to be his team mate and his friend. Hislegacy will always be within the YBL family during hisshort time with us. #AT13
LookingForwardto 2020/2021TheYBLstaffhavemettodiscusstherestoftheseasonand have started to plan for the upcoming 2020/20201season.Clubswill soonbegetting informationregardingourplansfornextseason,aheadof theYBLConferencein July. It looks like there are plenty of leagues to keepeveryone happy and engaged.
We're also looking at our development programme forofficials and coaches. We are delighted thatDevelopment August is returning this season, with lotsof courses for everyone. #OfficialFest
Feedback fromournewJuniorAssociate3POClinic forRefsAt his first meeting Owen had suggested that clubs or the YBLlook at going into schools when they have events on; like schoolfetesandofferingbasketballsessions. Thesessionswouldallowchildren to try basketball and the clubs could then invite thechildren to club sessions.
Owen then went on to say about his first ever YBL meeting;
Ahead of the YBL Championship Semi-Finals and Finals for 2020, it is with greatpleasure to announce the first ever YBL 3Person Officiating Clinic - giving referees upto date knowledge from experiencedreferees.

"FormyfirstmeetingIwasn't thatnervous, Iknewmostofthepeople in the room. I don't think you could be nervous as allof the people in the YBL are super friendly.
"Even though I don't really find meetings interesting I wasactually quite interested in all of the different subjects of themeeting. Anybody wanting to become a YBL Staff memberI would definitely encourage."
How have you found the season sofar?It’s been a challenge. We’re a newside with lots of players that havenever played basketball before. Ithink we only have four players thathave played basketball before thisseason.
When you find yourself not winningas many games as others what doyou do with your players to keepthem engaged and not wanting toquit?For us it’s understanding that this isan one season process; we have hadone-to-one meetings with everyplayer to make sure they understandthat this can take two seasons forthem to start seeing a bit of success.Our team is currently made up ofquite a female as well as a maleplayers. This is great but we wouldquite like to have two separate teamsnext season.
Do you have any suggestions forthe YBL?With the current situation we are inand the competition in our leaguebeing so fierce, I think it would be agreat idea if the YBL after halfwaythrough the season could take thetwo bottom teams from each leagueand make that a league of its own.Then adjust the other two leaguesaccordingly so that the top playersplay against each other and themiddle teams play against eachother as well. This allows for theleagues to be more fair andcompetitive likewise for the othertwo leagues as well.
