PORTO
ISEP also means Porto. We are a brand of this modern Euro-pean city, known for its beauty, booming cultural agenda, strong traditional roots and friendly environment.
Porto is the second biggest city in Portugal; it is part of UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1996; it was the Euro-pean Cultural Capital in 2001 and it was voted the best city to travel in Europe and a top world destination in 2012.
The city is famous for its bridges over the Douro River, Port Wine, science, architecture, history and excellent food. Above all, the charm of its friendly and open-minded peo-ple makes it a special place to visit and to live in.
It is where tradition meets innovation and where many of Portuguese biggest business, industries and research centres are located. Porto is also the Portuguese academic capital: home of the biggest Polytechnic and University and main destination for foreign students.
Since 1852 it is also a home to ISEP.

ISEP is a trademark of Portuguese Engineering. Since 1852, we have been pioneering education and innovation in Engineering to promote sustainable development solutions.

CAMPUS’ LIFE
Innovation, technology, creativity and human relations are the soul of our campus’ life. Our biggest honour is the true spirit of community lodged in our campus. From the library to counselling support, from the gym to the cafete-rias, from the international office to online services and e-learning support, we are always investing in solutions that improve the quality of life of students and staff.
While our Student Counselling Service (ISEP|GO) pro-motes students’ integration, well-being and supports the development of soft skills for a successful transition to the labour market, the Students Union (aeISEP) plays a big role in organizing several cultural and social activities through-out the year. From the “Tunas” (traditional academic mu-sic groups), to theatre groups or sports teams there are always activities going on.
Our 50.000m2 campus is located in Porto’s main univer-sity area and just 10 minutes away from the city centre by metro. With modern infrastructures, you can always find a comfortable place to study or for group work. Further-more, many academic procedures are run online, in order to provide the best service possible.
On top of that, ISEP Museum was recognized by the Sci-entific Instrument Commission for its priceless collection and represents a perfect place to visit, relax and reflect on new ideas.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
ISEP houses 10 research units, 6 of which recognized as National Research Centres by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT). We are among the top scientific institutions nationwide and some of our units are worldwide leaders in their field. To strengthen the exchange of knowledge we also created five consultancy units that place human, scientific and technical expertise in the hands of entrepreneurs, engineers and CEOs.
We know creativity and innovation are key elements to stand out in a globalised economy and encourage our students to partici-pate, experiment and be part of the exciting world of technology.

INTERNATIONAL POLICY
Fully aware we live and work in a complex and interdependent world, ISEP upholds a strong international cooperation policy. The School advocates the European Space of Higher Education and supports educational and research programs with worldwide partners.
The importance given to international mobility is reflected in our institutional strategic plan and in the commitment to develop strategies that stimulate mobility among the academic population, promote joint degrees, multilateral projects, joint research and international networks.
