You will make Tax & NI Savings

As the reduction in salary is taken from your gross pay, you will no longer pay tax

and NI on the reduction amount. A basic rate tax payer will save 32% (20% Tax and

12% National Insurance) and a higher rate tax payer will save 42% (40% tax and 2%

National Insurance).

No upfront deposit or credit checks

As the lease agreements is directly with your employer, there are no deposits or

credit checks to worry about. It won’t even show or effect your credit score and your

monthly salary reduction will simply start in the month you take delivery of your new

car.

When your car requires any servicing or maintenance work you can contact Car

Salary Exchange who can arrange for your car to be collected, serviced/maintained

and then the vehicle returned to you include of a full valet. Similarly tyres can be re-

placed at our tyre providers local depot or we can arrange for them to be changed at

your office or home.

You can offer to family member (e.g. partner)

If you already are benefiting from a company car or if your partner drives the main

household car, you can actually have a car through your employers car salary

exchange for them. Quite simply you will make the necessary payments via salary

reduction and you will pay the company car tax but for insurance purposes, your

partner will be the main driver.

Includes cover for Redundancy, Terminal Illness and

Death in service

Should the worse happen, the last thing you will need to worry about are any early

termination penalties or costs – in any of these events you simply hand the keys

back and the car is collected. There are no early termination fees to worry about.

VAT Benefits

As the car is supplied to your employer on a Contract Hire basis, Car Salary

Exchange are able to claim all the VAT back from the purchase price meaning it is no

considered when we calculate your monthly salary reduction amounts.

Removal of depreciation risk

There are no balloon payments or risk of falling into negative equity at the end. You

simply have the option of either replacing your car when the lease expires or

purchasing it at market value. Alternatively you can simply hand the keys back and

providing you are within the contract mileage and meet the vehicle condition

requirements, there are no further costs for you to worry about.

Who is eligible to participate in the Scheme?

You will be eligible to participate in the Scheme if you meet the following criteria:

you are an employee with a regular pattern of work with a contract that

extends for the duration of the contract term under the Scheme

you have been a permanent employee for 6 months and successfully

completed your probationary period (please check your own company policy)

you have an hourly pay rate above the National Minimum Wage (“NMW”) after

all salary exchanges and any other reductions have been made to your

notional salary

all drivers must have held a full driving licence for 12 months that permits

them to drive legally in the UK

you have had no more than 1 fault accident in the past 3 Years

you have no more than two ‘category A ‘motor convictions

you are between 18 and 75 years of age (anyone over 75 will need to contact

CSE for a quotation)

you are not currently subject to any form of disciplinary action, under a

performance improvement plan or under consultation

neither you nor your employer has served notice to terminate your

employment

The Scheme is designed to suit most circumstances for you and your family to use,

whether you do any business mileage or not for your job you can still apply for a car

through the Scheme.

What is car salary exchange?

A salary exchange happens when an employee gives up the right to receive part of

the cash pay due under his or her contract of employment. The exchange is made in

return for the employer’s agreement to provide the employee with some form of

non-cash benefit which in this instance is a fully expensed car.

The 'exchange' is achieved by varying the employee’s terms and conditions of

employment relating to pay. Salary exchange is a matter of employment law, where

an employee gives up their contractual right to future cash remuneration for the

period of the Scheme in return for a car.
