European  Union  Measures  for  Coniferous  Wood  (Pallets)

The  Commission  of  the  European  Communities  requires  heat  treatment  and  marking  of  all  new  and  used  coniferous  (e.g.  pine,  spruce,  fir)  non-manufactured  wood  packing  material  (NMWP)  originating  in  the  United  States,  Canada,  China  or  Japan.  This  is  to  prevent  the  introduction  of  the  pinewood  nematode  into  the  EU.  Hardwoods  are  exempt.

In  order  to  meet  the  standards  adopted  by  the  EU,  NMWP  must  be  heat  treated  or  kiln  dried.  The  wood  must  bear  a  mark  indicating  the  organization  that  treated  the  NMWP  and  the  location  of  that  organization.

If  you  plan  on  using  wooden  pallets  or  wooden  crates  made  of  coniferous  wood  for  shipping,  we  kindly  ask  that  you  contact  your  respective  Schenker  office  to  discuss  this  in   greater  detail.

You  can  find  more  information  at  the  following  web  site:    http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ppq/wpm/export/eu.html

Hazardous  Shipments

Hazardous,  flammable  and  toxic  materials  of  any  nature  are  not  permitted  to  move  in  a  consolidation  without  prior  approval.  Please  provide  us  with  the  material  safety  data  sheets  (MSDS)  should  your  shipment  include  dangerous  goods.  All  hazardous  shipments  must  be  marked  with  the  correct  placards  and  IMCO  classifications.

Please  give  advance  notice  to  Schenker  and  have  your  hazardous  cargo  arrive  at  Schenker’s  warehouses  at  least  one  week  earlier  than  the  dates  provided  on  page  one.  Delays  should  be  anticipated  as  such  cargo  is  only  loaded  per  the  pilot/captain’s  discretion  and  given  the  lowest  priority  over  other  cargo.

U.S.  Shipments  of  Foreign  Made  Goods

Goods  that  will  return  to  the  U.S.  after  the  exhibition,  which  are  not  of  U.S.  origin,  will  need  to  be    registered  with  U.S.  Customs  prior  to  export  to  Nürnberg.  By  registering  the  goods  with  U.S.  Customs,  we  can  avoid  the  possibility  of  customs  duties  and  penalties  being  assessed  upon  the  return  to  the  U.S.A.   Please  notify  Schenker  if  you  wish  to  have  your  shipment  registered.  Please  allow  extra  time  for  this   service.

Documentation

For  your  convenience,  any  required  forms  cited  below,  including  samples  will  be  provided  when  necessary.

Shipper’s  Security  Endorsement  and  Contract  of  Carriage  The  FAA  requires  that  a  Shipper’s  Security  Endorsement  form  accompany  every  export  shipment  departing  from  the  United  States.  In  addition,  a  valid  Contract  of  Carriage  must  also  be   on  file  with  Schenker  at  least  10  days  prior  to  tendering  your  cargo.  Failure  to  comply  with  these  FAA  directives  will  result  in  shipments  being  detained.

TSA directive for U.S. bound freight Effective  November  15,  2010,  TSA  requires  documentation  supporting  that   the  shipper  has  been  established  as  a  customer   for  a  minimum  of  30  days  prior   to   tendering  freight   to  an  airline   for  a  U.S.  bound  flight.   Please  note  that  a  signed  contract  of  carriage  can  be  used  for  this  purpose.

Power  of  Attorney  In  order  for  Schenker  to  export  your  shipment,  it  is  necessary  to  have  an  Export  Power  of  Attorney  form  completed  and  returned  prior  to  the  shipping  of  your  exhibition  goods.

Commercial  Invoice  /  Packing  List  3  Copies  of  a  commercial  invoice  /  packing  list    in  English  are  required.  Please  list  the  exact  description  of  each  item,  its  corresponding  value,    a  total  CIF  value  and  its  country  of  origin  or  manufacture.  A  brochure  or  catalog  corresponding  to  the  items  in  your  shipment  will  be  necessary  in  order  to  properly  classify  your  goods  with  German  Customs.

It  is  necessary  that  each  item  be  listed  with  its   full  description  and  corresponding  value.  The   use  of  product  codes,  abbreviations,  "No  Value"  and  "No  Charge"  will  not  be  accepted.  Your  company's  Federal  I.D.  number  and  any  applicable  license  numbers  should  also  appear  on  the  invoice/packing  list.

Furthermore,  any  serial  numbers  and  model  numbers  should  be  listed  with  their   respective  items.

Each  invoice/packing  list  should  be  addressed  as  follows:

IWA  2017  c/o  Your  Company  Name  Hall  Nr.   ,  Stand  Nr.      Nürnberg,   Germany  Attn:  Name  of  person  in  attendance  at

booth

In  case  your  shipment  has  been  sold  prior  to  the  exhibition,  it  will  be  necessary  for  you  to  prepare   a  final  invoice/packing  list  in  addition  to  the  above   invoice/packing  list.  This  invoice  should  be  ad-  dressed  directly  to  the  buyer  with  their  complete   address  and  telephone  number.  Please  issue  the  final  invoice/packing  list  on  your  own  letterhead   or  invoice  form.

Stringent  German  Customs  regulations  require  a  mandatory  product  brochure  or  catalog   describing  your  merchandise.  We  kindly  ask  that   a/the  brochure  accompany  your  invoice.  German   Customs  will  use  this  brochure  as  a  reference  to   classify  your  product.  Therefore,  your  descriptions  listed  in  your  invoice  should  match  the    information  in  your  brochure.

ATA  Carnet

An  ATA  Carnet  is  a  special  document  to  simplify  customs  procedures  and  temporary  imports  for  certain  goods  and  equipment.  An  ATA  Carnet  may  be  beneficial  to  you  if  your  goods  are  of  high  value  and  will  travel  to  other  foreign  countries  accepting  the  Carnet  agreement  and  ultimately  return  in  full  back  to  the  U.S.A. For  more  information,  visit  www.atacarnet.com  on  the  Internet.

Inquiries  regarding  ATA  Carnets  should  be  directed  to  the  U.S.  Council  for  International  Business  at  (800)  282-2900.

Export  Licenses  and  Regulations    It  is  the  shipper's  responsibility  to  contact  the  U.S.  Department  of  Commerce  and/or  U.S.  Department  of  State  to  find  out  if  their  goods  require  a  license  or  not,  and  to  advise  Schenker  accordingly.  Failure  to  comply  with  U.S.  Export  Laws  will  end  in  the  seizure  of  your  goods  by  U.S.  Customs  at  the  port  of  export  and  possible  criminal  prosecution.

Transport  Insurance    We  recommend  that  your  exhibit  material  be  insured  for  the  movement  overseas  to  the  exhibition,  during  the  exhibition  and  the  return  movement  back  to  the  U.S.A.  It  is  very  important  that  you  contact  your  own  insurance  carrier  to  make  sure  that  your  shipment  is  covered  by  your  own  policy.

*If  you  will  need  to  purchase  insurance  coverage,  Schenker  can  insure  your  goods  upon  written  request  only.  Verbal  agreements  will  not  be  accepted.

Courier  Services

If  you  plan  to  have  airfreight  shipped  beyond  our  established  cut-off  date,  or  if  you  have  a  last  minute  emergency  shipment,  we  suggest  that  you  first  contact  your  Schenker  representative  prior  to  utilizing  a  courier  service  (e.g.  FedEx,  UPS,  DHL  etc.).

Depending  on  the  details  of  your  shipment,  time  frame  and  current  airline  backlogs,  we  will  advise  you  if  Schenker  can  handle  the  cargo  or  if  it  is  best  to  utilize  a  courier  company.

Should  you  decide  to  use  a  courier  service,  we  strongly  recommend  that  the  shipment  be  consigned  directly  to  Schenker  Nürnberg  rather  than  to  your  booth.  Courier  companies  will  not  leave  cargo  in   your  booth  unless  there  is  a  representative  present  to  accept  the   shipment.

Furthermore,  courier  companies  are  not  set-up  to  import  merchandise  on  a  temporary  basis  and  at  times  have  difficulties  clearing  items  on  a  definitive  basis  (depending  on  the  value  and  commodity).  By  consigning  your  shipment  directly  to  yourself,  c/o  Schenker  Nürnberg,  they  will  ensure  that  the   shipment  is  received,  cleared  through  German  Customs  and  ultimately   delivered  to  your  booth  as  requested.

On  Site  Services  in  Nürnberg

German  Import  Customs  Clearance  Upon  arrival  of  your  shipment  at  the  Nürnberg  fairgrounds,  your  goods  will  be  entered  either  on  a  temporary  basis  or  on  a  definitive,  duty  paid  entry.  This  depends  on  how  your  invoice  is  prepared  and/or  by  local  customs  regulations.

Your  shipment  will  be  subject  to  an  intensive  examination  by  German  Customs  authorities  to  clarify/verify  items  that  are  listed  on  your  invoice/  packing  list.  Therefore,  it  is  very  important  to  be  precise  with  piece  counts,   descriptions  and  to  include  a  copy  of  the  brochure  or  catalog  for  the  items  listed  on  your  commercial  invoice.

Once  the  shipment  has  cleared  customs,  it  will  be  held  in  Schenker  Nürnberg’s  bonded    warehouse  until  the  requested  delivery  date  to  your  exhibition  booth.  Your  shipment  will  not  be  released  for  delivery  until  a  written  confirmation  is  received  from  German  Customs.

Labor  and  Equipment  Schenker  can  provide  labor,  lifting  equipment  and  packing  materials  upon  request  to  assist  you  in  the  unpacking,  repacking  and  set-up  of  your  goods  at  your  booth.  Please  note  that  our  personnel  are  only  skilled  in  freight  handling.  Other  services  for  carpentry  work  or  display  wall  set-up  should  be  referred  to  a  skilled  display  stand  builder.

Storage  of  Empties  Once  your  merchandise  has  been  unpacked  and  you  wish  for  Schenker  to  save  your  packing  cases  and  packing  materials  during  the  show,  it  is  very  important  that  you  advise  Schenker   on-site  so  they  can  prepare  a  work  order  to  pick-up  your  empties.  Schenker  will  provide  labels,  which  should  be  completed  and  affixed  to  the  empty  items  to  be  stored.

All  labeled  cases  will  be  picked-up  from  your  booth,  stored  during  the  show  and  automatically  returned  to  your  booth  at  the  end  of  the  show.  Please  do  not  store  full  cases  with  your  empty  cases  as  they  will  not  be  accessible  during  the  show,  nor  will  Schenker  be  held  responsible  for  missing  articles  upon  the  return  to  your  booth.  Please  contact  Schenker  to  arrange  special  warehousing  of  full  goods  that  need  to  be  accessed  during  the  exhibition.

Disposition  of  Goods  at  Show  End

At  some  point  during  the  exhibition  either  a  Schenker  representative  will  contact  you  at  your  booth,  or  you  should  contact  our  Schenker  office  on-site  to  submit  instructions  about  the  final  disposition  of  your   exhibits  at  the  end  of  the  show.

Goods  that  are  designated  on  your  invoice  for  DEFINITIVE  importation  will  be  immediately  assessed  duties  and  taxes.  This  will  allow  the  exhibitor  to  sell,  giveaway  or  abandon  their  goods  during  or  at  the  end  of  the  fair  without  further  German  Customs   intervention.

Exhibits  that  are  designated  on  your  invoice

for  TEMPORARY  importation  will  defer  duty  and  tax  assessments  until  the  disposition  of  the   goods  is  decided  during  the  fair.  Goods  entered   on  a  temporary  basis  cannot  be  sold  directly  from   the  booth,  given  away  or  abandoned  at  the  end  of   the  fair  until  authorization  is  granted  by  German  Customs.

It  may  be  necessary  to  issue  a  new  invoice  consigned  directly  to  the  company  purchasing  your  goods.  Duties  and  taxes  for  goods  sold  to  European  Community  companies  can  be  assessed  directly  in  Nürnberg  and  billed  either  to  the  buyer  or  back  to  your  company  in  the  U.S.A.

 Return  Shipments

U.S.  Customs  Clearance  Upon  your  instructions,  Schenker  can  offer  the  same  consolidation  freight  services  via  air  and  ocean  back  to  the  U.S.A.  Transit  times  for  return  airfreight  will  be  approximately  1  –  2  weeks,  and  ocean  freight  will  take  approximately  3  –  5  weeks  (this  may  be  delayed  if  U.S.  customs  exam  is  required).

Depending  on  your  commodities  and  shipment  values,  it  is  sometimes  cost  effective  to  abandon  your  goods  after  the  show  and  pay  the  duties  and  taxes  rather  than  pay  the  return  charges.

All  shipments  returned  to  the  U.S.A.  will  need  to  clear  U.S.  Customs.  Should  you  wish  for  Schenker  to  clear  your  shipment  on  your  behalf,  it  will  be  necessary  to  have  a  Master  Customs  Power  of  Attorney  form  completed  and  returned  prior  to  preparing  the  customs  documents.  Otherwise,  the  shipment  can  be  turned  over  to  your  appointed  broker.

Importer  Security  Filing  (10+2)  Effective  January  26,  2009,  U.S.  Customs  requires  all  ocean  freight  shipments  arriving  via  U.S.  Ports  are  subject  to  Import  Security  Filing  (ISF).    Schenker  custom  brokers  can  file  your  ISF,  also  known  as  10+2.  Please  contact  your  local  Schenker  Representative  or  Schenker  U.S.  Fairs  and  Exhibitions  department  for  more  information.  Detailed  information  can  be  found  on:  http://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/cargo-security/importer-security-filing-102

U.S.  Import  Regulation  Revision  Effective  September  16,  2005,  USDA  revised  the  import  regulation  for  wood  packing  material  (WPM).  The  regulation  requires  WPM  coming  into  the  U.S.  to  be  treated  and  marked.  If  your  WPM  is  not  treated  and  marked,  your  cargo  may  be  subject  to  immediate  export.    Please  contact  your  Schenker  representative  and  visit  www.aphis.usda.gov/ppq/wpm/import.html  for  more  information.

Terms  and  Conditions    The  cut-off  dates  selected  ensure  ample  time  for  transportation  to  Nürnberg,  German  Customs   clearance  and  delivery  to  your  exhibition  stand.  Should  you  not  be  able  to  meet  the  cut-off  dates  listed   in  these  instructions  or  need  your  cargo  to  arrive  earlier  in  Nürnberg  for  additional  set-up  time,  it  is  very   important  that  you  notify  Schenker  immediately  so  alternative  plans  can  be  arranged.  Schenker  will  not   accept  responsibility  for  late  delivery  to  the  exhibition  due  to  late  arrival  at  our  consolidation  points  in   the  U.S.A.,  as  specified  in  our  Shipping  Instructions.    Furthermore,  Schenker’s  responsibility  ends  upon  delivering  the  goods  to  your  stand  and  only   resumes  once  the  cargo  is  collected  from  your  stand  at  the  end  of  the  fair.  We  strongly  suggest  that  a  representative  is  present  to  receive  the  cargo  prior  to  the  fair  and  remains  with  your  goods  after  the   fair  until  Schenker  picks  them  up.    All  service  and  work  undertaken  by  Schenker  are  carried  out  exclusively  to  the  terms  and  conditions   laid  down  in  our  Company  Terms  and  Conditions  of  Trading.  The  DB  Schenker  Terms  and  Conditions  can  be  found  here:  www.dbschenkerusa.com/log-us-en/aboutdbschenker/resourcecenter/documents/termsconditions.html
