WHAT IS ILS?

• THE MOST GENERAL DEFINITION OF ILS IS A MEANS OF LOGISTICAL SUPPORT WHICH DEVISES, DIRECTS, AND SUPPORTS THE IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND LOGISTICS SUPPORT FOR MILITARY SYSTEMS.

• THE PRIMARY GOAL OF ILS IS TO CREATE SYSTEMS WITH A GREATER LIFE SPAN WITH LOWER SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS AND COSTS.

• REDUCE COST AND INCREASE ROI• ADDRESS BOTH SUPPORTABILITY DESIGN DURING ACQUISITION

AND SUPPORT OF FIELDED SYSTEMS FOR OPERATIONAL LIFE SPAN.

• THESE GOALS ARE REACHED BY DRIVING OPERATIONAL AVAILABILITY (AO) UP WHILE CONTAINING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH LIFE CYCLE SUPPORT.
