ILS Specifications
Under the umbrella of AECMA/ASD European Aerospace and
Defense Industries, Organizations and Customers started to
develop and maintain specifications to support the Integrated
Logistic Support elements.
The structure and functional coverage of these specifications
were largely determined by NATO requirements specified
during an international workshop (HAW Acquisition Logistics)
in Paris in 1993

ILS Specifications
Since the millennium several MoU were signed between AIA
and ATA for the further development of the S1000D.
In 2010 a MoU was signed with AIA in order to promote a
common, interoperable, international suite of integrated
logistics support specifications in the Aerospace and Defense
Industries of Europe and the United States and to make
optimal use of the resources available, ASD and AIA agreed
to work in concert on the joint development of the S-Series
ILS specifications.

2013-09-19 S-Series Specification Day 2013 10

World Standards Day
World Standards Day is celebrated internationally each year
on 14 October.
The day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who
develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations.
The aim of World Standards Day is to raise awareness among
regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization
to the global economy.
14 October was specifically chosen to mark the date, in 1946,
when delegates from 25 countries first gathered in London and decided to
create an international organization focused on facilitating standardization.
Even though ISO was formed one year later, it wasn't until 1970 that the
first World Standards Day was celebrated.
