INNOVATION LAB : WHY AND HOW
WHY
- Provide access for companies to the university of applied science for their questions regarding innovation
- Provide real problems to students (motivation increases)
- Students learn to design, test and realize solutions
- Students can choose from a wide variety of subjects
INNOVATION LAB : WHY AND HOW
HOW (for companies) :
- Companies (or research institutes) contact HvA via website:
http://www.hva.nl/kc-techniek/onderzoek/innovatielab/innovatielab.html
- Selection of suitable cases on criteria:
- Innovation ?
- Do we have the equipment needed?
- Which level? (second year student, or more towards bachelor level)
- Is it mono-disciplinary of multi-disciplinary ?
INNOVATION LAB : WHY AND HOW
HOW (matching):
- Intake with company
- If yes: then presentation at ‘meet and match) for students
- Students can choose. So a boring presentation can have consequences !
INNOVATION LAB : RESULTS
INNOVATION LAB : RESULTS
INNOVATION LAB : INTEGRATION
• Integrated in study programme
• Links to research education
• Links to design education
• Students learn how to deal with real clients
• Workshops in design and in research skills
INNOVATION LAB : FUTURE
• Innovation lab is the heart of the curriculum
• More multidisciplinairy work
• Students of all levels
• Even more integration with research programme
• Long-term relationships with companies
RESEARCH AND THE INNOVATION LAB
Inge Oskam, professor Technical Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Research programma Urban Technology
RESEARCH PROGRAMME URBAN TECHNOLOGYSOLUTIONS FOR A SUSTAINABLE, LIVEABLE AND CONNECTED CITY
1. Sustainable: efficient use of materials, water and energy with sustainable technologies and new business models.
2. Liveable: improving quality of life of inhabitants and users of the metropole.
3. Connected: realising smart connections, both locally and worldwide.
RESEARCH PROGRAMME URBAN TECHNOLOGYSOLUTIONS FOR A SUSTAINABLE, LIVEABLE AND CONNECTED CITY
• Applied research for smart technological solutions for the city
• Research, design, prototyping and implementation
• Metropole Amsterdam is our field lab where these solutions are realised and tested
• Together with companies, organisations and knowledge partners in the Metropole Amsterdam, for example through partnership with Amsterdam Smart City
• Faculty of Technology in collaboration with faculty of Digital Media & Creative Industries and faculty of Economics & Management
• 9 professors with 60 (parttime) researchers (teacher-researchers, PhD’s, researchers, research trainees)
• 4 knowlege areas and 2 cross themes:
