Timing Measurement on Gas-InsulatedSwitchgear with grounding on both sides !

When measuring operating times on GIS with grounding onboth sides, testing methods such as Dynamic ResistanceMeasurement (DRM) don’t deliver reliable results due to thelow-ohm ground connections that run parallel to the circuitBreaker. CIBANO 500 provides new & simple solution to thisproblem, which allows operating times to be determinedaccurately despite the fact that GIS is grounded on bothsides.

When a timing measurement on a GIS breaker must beperformed with both side grounded, CIBANO 500 offers the

possibility to use the new current sensor measurement method (CSM).

The CSM easily measures the operating times of the circuit breaker with an inductive sensor laid round the ground connection ofthe grounding switch. Nothing else needs to be modified.

It is a highly flexible measuring method, because the adjustable measuring sensor can be easily installed on a multitude of different grounding switches and performs precise timing measurements.

Did you know ?After timing measurements or high residual currents with transient DC components, there may be some residual magnetism left over in the GIS’s current transformer. Drone Thermal Imaging Camera Drone system is a specially designed thermo-diagnostic device. It is equipped with an LWIR micro-bolometric sensor with 640×512 px resolution (in the 7.5

– 13.5 μm range), and its ‘Super Resolution Mode’ functionality can deliver a finalthermogram in 1266×1010 px. resolution.

The RGB camera comes with Full HD (1920 x 1080 px) resolution and provides an absolutely unrivalled optical ultra-zoom – as much as 10x (6.9° to 58.2° field of vision).

Distributed TemperatureSensing (DTS)This technology makes use of fiber optic sensor cables, typically over lengths of several kilometers, that function as linear temperature sensors. The result is a continuous temperature profile along the entire length of the sensor cable.DTS utilizes the Raman effect to measure temperature. An optical laser pulse sent through the fiber results in some scattered light reflecting back to the transmitting end, where it is analyzed. The intensity of the Raman scattering is a measure of the temperature along the fiber. The Raman anti-Stokes signal changes its amplitude significantly with changing temperature, the Raman Stokes signal is relatively stable.The position of the temperature reading is determined by measuring the arrival timing of the returning light pulse similar to a radar echo. This method is called OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometry).Here it uses the Raman OTDR technology with some unique techniques such as code correlation technology and a single receiver design for both Stokes and anti-Stokes. This approach results in outstanding system reliability (immune to the effects of strain, which can lead to anomalous readings), accurate measurements and high performance, for which AP Sensing is known.

Distributed Acoustics Sensing (DAS)Various DAS / DVS technologies are used in the market, but the most common is based on Coherent Optic Time Domain Reflectometry (C-OTDR). C-OTDR utilizes Rayleigh back-scattering, allowing acoustic frequency signals to be detected over large distances. The interrogator sends a coherent laser pulse along an optical fiber (sensor cable) and scattering sites within the fiber cause the fiber to act as a distributed interferometer with a gauge length like the pulse length (e.g. 10 meters).Acoustic disturbance on a fiber generates microscopic elongation or compression of the fiber (micro-strain), which causes a change in the phase relation and/or amplitude.In the very low frequency range, phase-based C-OTDR systems enable the highly sensitive measurement of transient temperatures due to the elongation/compression of the fiber with temperature changes. This measurement mode is called DTGS (Distributed Temperature Gradient Sensing)With the combination of phase and amplitude measurements, our proprietary 2P squared technology offers low sensitivity to the fading signal commonly observed in other C-OTDR systems. Our DAS system provides constant performance over the entire fiber resulting in a high measurement quality.
