• The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) has 4 Historically-Black sororities: Alpha

Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

• The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) contains several culturally based sororities that

range from Historically- Latina organizations to Historically-Asian sororities.

• NPHC and MGC sororities have values & traditions specific to their history and cultures

• These sororities do not participate in the formal recruitment process. Membership is usually

conducted through a sorority specific Membership Intake Process (MIP)

• Bid: An invitation to join a fraternity or sorority

• Chapter: The campus extension of an inter/national women’s or men’s fraternity or sorority

• Legacy: A potential new member whose immediate family member is a member of a

particular sorority or fraternity

• Panhellenic Association (PA): The governing body of the nine National Panhellenic

Conference sororities on campus. Provides leadership, guidance, and resources for all nine

chapters

• Potential New Member (PNM): Any woman interested in becoming a sorority member

• Rho Gamma: Recruitment counselor that guides women through the recruitment process.

• Be respectful

• Attend ALL rounds

• Be open-minded

• Be yourself

• Ask questions

• Have honest conversations

• Make memories
