Background: Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity (GERES) is a French non-profit NGO created in 1976 after the first Oil Shock. Kabul Energy Efficiency Project (KEEP): In Afghanistan, GERES has helped equip more than 2,200 houses
in districts 5, 7 and 8 of Kabul City with energy efficient technologies through the technical training and
support of local small enterprises. The budget for Afghanistan is estimated at 1.77 Million Euros.
Central Highlands Program (CHP): The Central Highlands Rural Development Program, started in March 2015, will be implemented by GERES, in partnership with MADERA and Solidarités International for 36 months and a total budget of 10.0 Million Euros.
