Presidents Report

So another life goal clarified! The trip to Lake Eyre to see it inflood; I can go with Kirkhope Aviation. To see the planes, Icould go in, meet the pilots, all in a non-pressured environmentwas fantastic. As always I enjoy the “outings” and the ability tolearn when we go to see a business in operation. The goldenage of travel is probably now, never has it been so cheap and

Thanks Greg and Ken for organizing such a fabulous evening.

The District Training Assembly is on Sunday, at Deakin Univer-sity Burwood, we have an unprecedented 13 members attend-ing, Malcolm has really done his planning and motivation. Nodoubt interesting information will come from this event.

that we’re fine with that. I also said that the Farmers’Market had been important in putting us in front of thewider community every month.

However, for this year, I said to the district membershipperson that the most important factor is our MembershipDirector Megan Glenwright. Megan, in sales terms, iswilling to do the “ask”, and then when she “asks” she fol-lows up. Any prospective member who comes to theClub is welcomed, introduced, seated with an appropriatemember, and then followed up. When we meet with themember formally, at Megan’s home, Megan takes thelead in ensuring that the person is fully briefed, and thatthey understand the requirements and costs of member-ship. Megan has also been very strong in making surethat we are “badged” appropriately, her insistence that wewear the logo shirts and jackets, and her initiative that we,as a club, pay a proportion of the uniform costs has en-sured that we are visible and project the image of an or-ganized club.

The other factor I discussed was that everyone is verywelcoming, making sure that they meet prospective mem-bers and welcome them. This is true of every memberfrom the longest serving to the most recent. We are not aclosed club, neither in mind or attitude. It was great to beasked the question, to reflect and then to realize evenmore what makes us a success.

I’m looking forward to the Mindless Mayhem of next week, see you all then.

Yours in Rotary Trish

The oldwaterfront town was an active South-east Asian trading port dating back tothe 15th century and is now recog-nized as a UNESCO World Heritagesite. “The colored lanterns abound inthe Old Quarter,” Martin Bagg writes.

“At night they make it a visually stun-ning place [in which] to walk around.”
