Solution:

1. Given statements: X = Y ≥ W, W < Z, Z ≤ A

On combining: X = Y ≥ W < Z ≤ A

Conclusions:

I. A ≥ W → False (as W < Z ≤ A → W < A)

II. Z > X → False (as X = Y ≥ W < Z → relation between Z and X cannot be determined)

III. W = X → False (as X = Y and Y ≥ W → X ≥ W)

IV. W < X → False (as X = Y and Y ≥ W → X ≥ W)

Here, conclusion III and IV form complementary pair.

Hence, either III or IV follows.

2. Given statements: C < T; C = U; X ≤ B; X = T; B ≥ V

On combining: U = C < T = X ≤ B ≥ V

Conclusions:

I. C > X → False (as C < T = X → C < T)

II. X ≥ B → False (as X ≤ B)

III. C < B → True (as C < T = X ≤ B → C < B)

IV. C = X → False (as C < T = X → C < X)

Thus, only III is true.

6. A course of action is something that needs to be done considering the present scenario in mind. From the statement, it is evident that it is in context of the NPA and it lays out the views of Rajan in accordance to the NPA.

From the courses of actions mentioned none of them is relevant to be considered as an appropriate course of action keeping in mind the given statement.

Course of action I, itself is a problem and itself mentions the outcomes of the action and is thus, not correct.

Course of action II is not an action, it is just a statement stating general information.

Course of action III is also irrelevant as it does not suggest any course of action rather it presents a general picture in context of banks. As it does not state any course of action, thus, it can also be rejected.

Thus, the correct answer is option 3.

7. A course of action is something that needs to be done considering the present scenario in mind. From the statement, it is evident that United Limited has been

blacklisted by the Delhi government financial commissioner because had violated provisions of the Delhi Excise Act, 2009 and Delhi Excise Rules, 2010 by using unauthorized and loose barcodes.

From the courses of actions discussed none of the course of actions mentioned is relevant and can be rejected.

Course of action I can be rejected as it is generic and does not state the fact as to what can be the further course of action by the UHL or by the Delhi government financial commissioner regarding the problem under consideration.

Course of action II can also be rejected as it is just an elaborated version of the give problem and does not look like an appropriate action in order to improve the present scenario.

Course of action III can also be rejected as the fact stated in it is already stated in course of action I thus, it is nowhere linked to a possible course of action and thus, can be rejected.

Thus, the correct answer is option 3.

10.

Logic:

Step 1:

Difference between the product of first digits from both the blocks and product of second digits from both the blocks i.e. 5 × 6 = 30 and 8 × 1 = 8.

Difference between 30 and 8 is 22.

Same process is applied in all pair of blocks.

Step 2:

In this step, first digit of each block is added and then multiplied by 3 and the result is added to 18 i.e. (2 + 4 + 2) × 3 + 18 = 42

Same process is to be repeated (on second digits of all three blocks) to get the second block.

Step 3:

In this step, square of first digit of first block and square of first digit from second block is added and then product of first digit from both the blocks is subtracted from it i.e. 32 + 42 - 3 × 4 = 13.

Same process is done on second digits of previous blocks to get the second block of this step.

Step 4:

Difference between the sum of the blocks and difference of both the blocks is calculated to get the final answer i.e. 13 + 67 = 80 and difference between 67 and 13 is 54.

Page 35: IBPS Clerk Mains Reasoning Questions Answer Key...Charvi Government Officer Damini Freelancer Babita Psychologist 12) Each child has both of its parents alive. Therefore case 1 is

35 | P a g e

Finally, difference between 80 and 54 is 26.

Same procedure is applied for the given input:

The sum of numbers of 2nd last step i.e. step 3 = 13 + 19 = 32

The sum of numbers of 2nd step = 33 + 45 = 78

Difference = 46

Hence the correct answer is 46.

11. We first make sure to read the statement carefully and then see what immediate inferences can be drawn based on our first reading. The next step is to look at the arguments given in the options, analyze them and see if they seem relevant with respect to the information/data provided to us. Finally, it is very important to study the question closely.

The question is asking about the US’ discontent with India. Since the statement clearly mentions that the decision related to the SEZ policy comes after the intervention of the US, it is clear that it affects them in some ways.

Page 36: IBPS Clerk Mains Reasoning Questions Answer Key...Charvi Government Officer Damini Freelancer Babita Psychologist 12) Each child has both of its parents alive. Therefore case 1 is

36 | P a g e

From the given arguments, argument 1 is eliminated because the statement does not give any of that data to us and is also not relevant to the question asked. Argument 2 answers the question asked, but that information is not provided to us in the statement. Argument 3 mentions export promotion programs, which are also mentioned in the last part of the statement. Thus, only argument 3 seems to be the most relevant argument and the answer is option 4.

Thus, the correct answer is option 4.

12. The correct answer is option 2, i.e. Only I and III are strong.

III is a revised version of I only. Both of the arguments state the right facts about the GDP and the debt amount and highlight the need for adopting practices mentioned in the given statement. II is irrelevant and incorrect because if the debt amount is only 8% of the GDP, then there is no need to adopt such decisions and the debt can be easily paid from the GDP collected. Thus, II is rejected.

Thus, the most appropriate answer is option 2 and the rest of the options can be

eliminated.

13. The correct answer is option 4, i.e. only II is implicit.

From the given statement, we can assume that Shiv Sena has slammed BJP’s complaints

regarding EVM (Electronic Voting Machines) and has commented that The Election

Commission and its machinery have become like slaves of the government and work

accordingly. Assumption II is correct and can be assumed as implicit as it holds true as

for the comments by the BJP are concerned because it highlights the slavish attitude of

the Electronic Commission. The assumption 'I' is incorrect as it opposes the argument

raised by Shiv Sena and can thus, be rejected. Thus, we can say that out of the two

statements, only second is implicit and we can mark the answer as option 4.

Logic:

Step 1:

Difference between the product of first digits from both the blocks and product of second digits from both the blocks i.e. 5 × 6 = 30 and 8 × 1 = 8.

Difference between 30 and 8 is 22.

Same process is applied in all pair of blocks.

Step 2:

Page 47: IBPS Clerk Mains Reasoning Questions Answer Key...Charvi Government Officer Damini Freelancer Babita Psychologist 12) Each child has both of its parents alive. Therefore case 1 is

47 | P a g e

Finally, difference between 80 and 54 is 26.

Same procedure is applied for the given input:

Numbers obtained in step 3 are 13 and 19.

Sum of their inverse is = 31 + 91 = 122.
