IB-Learner Profile

IBO Mission StatementThe International Baccalaureate Organization aims

to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Implementing the IB-Learner Profile

• Educational Values The IB learner profile provides a clear

statement of the beliefs and values that strengthen the programmes.

• Standards and Practices The learner profile is referenced three times in

the new programme standards and practices: • Standard A1 Philosophy; practice 2

How to Implement the IB-Learner Profile?

• The IB-Learner Profile should used as ideals to reinforce content and skills of the curriculum. For Example, structured inquiry and encouraging intellectual risk-taking in all subject areas will improve the quality of learning and performance in examinations.
