Aft er the resounding success of the previous editi on, which was enti rely devoted to the 25th anniversary of I Solisti del Vento, we proudly present to you the I Solisti Summer Academy 2015. It is the sixth time already that an entire team of motivated professors and artists are looking forward to welcome you in the picturesque city called Lier. The campus site has been expanded with a bar, restaurant and youth hostel and our wide range of master classes, workshops and concerts is more extensive than it has ever been.

It now also includes wind & brass band conducti ng, orchestral conducti ng, percussion and compositi on. We also added master classes for some related instruments. This way almost every instrument of I Solisti is represented, which will make the arti sti c foundati on of the ensemble more outgiving.

More than ever the editi on of 2015 will be about cross-overs between students and about emphasizing the dialogue between young performers, professors and audience. The Concours Ottoboni during the festival weekend will surely be an exciting experience and we will end the week with a remarkable final concert. Mental Coaching | Monica LuijendijkUnti l a few years ago Monica Luijendijk worked as a professional musician. Nowadays she has been at work as a personal coach with a specializati on in the performing arts and as a certi fi ed career coach. In this workshop we take a closer look at the concept of stage consciousness and the personal characteristi cs of musicians.

Tai Chi - the perfect balance | Jan SmetsTai Chi enhances the physical and mental defensibility and has a benefi cial eff ect on memory and concentrati on. Memorizing the sequence of movements is an excellent exercise for the memory. At any ti me, a supreme concentrati on is required.

RecitalsFrom Wednesday unti l Saturday the students will have the opportunity to give concerts in the restored 18th-century Church of the Jesuits. Program and cast will be determined aft er deliberati on with your teacher.

Yoga | David Somers Traditi onal Hatha-yoga works on body and mind. In this workshop you will work on the balance between exercise and relaxati on, through a series of yoga poses and breathing exercises.

Initi ati on Advanced Ear Training | Geert CallaertThis workshop for aspiring conductors and composers combines musical analysis, ear training, improvisati on and practi cal harmony. Atonal theory (pitch class theory, see Allen Forte, Charles Wuorinen) is used to guide the enti re process. The workshop is an arti sti c research-based spin-off .

Workshop for composers | Wim HenderickxIn this workshop you will learn about the interpersonal writi ng process and the performing premiere of the compositi on (preparati on and collaborati on with the musicians). Wim Henderickx will discuss the role and place of the composer in the present society as we learn to know it today.

Module intensive auditi on training | Edith Van DyckDuring this module you will be working on an intensive predetermined auditi oning programme. This module includes group lessons, workshops mental coaching, piano accompaniment, test auditi ons and closes down with a mock auditi on. — supplement of € 75 applicable for this module.

CONCOURS OTTOBONI

The three ‘Laureates of I Solisti Summer Academy 2015’will be invited to give a recital and receive the Ott oboni Award of€ 500, € 300 or € 200

Ott oboni was a big fan of classical music and founded a competi ti on between Händel and Scarlatti . The Concours Ott oboni, that is named aft er this Italian, is an initi ati ve of the Circle of Friends Music Academy Lier and I Solisti del Vento and takes place for the 11th ti me already.

OTTOBONI AWARDOn Saturday August 22 the students that are selected by the teachers of the I Solisti Summer Academy will get the opportunity to play at the Concours Ott oboni.

Each student will play a compositi on by choice with a maximum durati on of 7 minutes. Aft er deliberati on by the members of the Academy Jury three students will be awarded with an Ott oboni Award of €500, €300 or €200. These three laureates will play a recital together on Sunday August 23.

AUDIENCE FAVORITE I SOLISTI SUMMER ACADEMY Aft er the Concours Ott oboni on Saturday August 22 I Solisti will also hand out a personal prize for the Audience Favorite.

I SOLISTI DEL VENTO - BELGIAN WIND ENSEMBLE ANTWERPa unique identi ty associated with 250 years of |r|evoluti on for wind playersI Solisti del Vento played its fi rst concert in February 1988 as ‘Die Harmonie’, a part of the former ‘Nieuw Belgisch kamerorkest’. In 1996 the ensemble became an independent and professional organizati on under the enthusiasti c leadership of arti sti c and executi ve director Francis Pollet. In the past twenty-fi ve years the ensemble grew into a formati on that matches the internati onal top in the fi eld of (chamber) music for wind ensemble. Since 1999 I Solisti del Vento has been in residence at the Royal Flemish Conservatory Antwerp, housed on the premises of the Internati onal Arts Campus deSingel.

The ensemble prides itself on its stylisti c versati lity allowing the implementati on of a diverse repertoire of musical genres and styles in a thoughtf ul manner. I Solisti del Vento works intensely with all major venues in Belgium and is regularly invited to festi vals and concert halls worldwide. The ensemble believes in an ever-evolving creati vity, taking up the challenge to carry out the value of the extensive wind repertoire to other horizons. The impetus to achieve a higher level has led I Solisti del Vento to inspiring co-operati ons with renowned ensembles, choirs, conductors and arti sts.

I Solisti del Vento evolved into a leading wind ensemble and an energizing and innovati ng factor in Flemish music life, also thanks to the structural support of the Flemish Community.

In August 2013 the ensemble started a record label of its own, I Solisti Records. With the launching of this record label I Solisti del Vento enhance their mission even more: to interpret, to valorize and to explore 250 years of music for wind instruments.

The CDs appearing under the imprint of I Solisti Records are a paragon of the abundant richness of the diff erenti ated repertoire for wind instruments, embodying the versati lity of the ensemble to boot. The label is exclusively devoted to the recordings of the wind ensemble I Solisti del Vento, with Francis Pollet as arti sti c director.
