The Federated Messenger June 2017 “I Don't Want to Waste My Summer!” by Pastor Stephen Pettis Summer is upon us! Summer is a great time to fulfill the great commission, to make disciples. To make disciples we have to share the truth of the gospel and once received grow in the likeness of Christ. This summer we are going to do that in a couple of ways. Jesus said, you are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14) Being out in our communities gives us the great opportunity to show others our love for Christ. This summer churches from the community will be hosting a kickball league for middle/high school students every Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm from June 14th to July 12th. Students will be encouraged to create teams and compete to be Kick ball champions. The goal of this effort is to promote a three day event happening July 13-15. The Federated Youth and the youth from other churches of this area are planning a three day out door event called the Awakening, happening July 13, 14, and 15 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Albion Park. There's going to be great activities, giveaways, music, fun and a rock concert. The goal of this three day event is to share the gospel with the youth of our community in the hope that they will come to the life saving knowledge of Jesus. The second part of disciple making is growing in the likeness of Christ. We have two great opportunities to do that this summer. First, Sunday school. All students going into 7th thru 12th grade are welcome to join us in the elevator room starting June 25. Second, is a Bible study that will meet together for a study in the word and then spend some time hanging out in different locals. If you're interested please sign up outside Pastor Steve's office. If you aren't a student but you would love to help in any of these great summer opportunities for our teens please talk to Pastor Steve!

by Pastor Stephen Pettis

Summer is upon us! Summer is a great time to fulfill the great commission, to make

disciples. To make disciples we have to share the truth of the gospel and once received grow in

the likeness of Christ. This summer we are going to do that in a couple of ways.

Jesus said, you are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14) Being out in our communities

gives us the great opportunity to show others our love for Christ. This summer churches from

the community will be hosting a kickball league for middle/high school students every

Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm from June 14th to July 12th. Students will be

encouraged to create teams and compete to be Kick ball champions.

The goal of this effort is to promote a three day event happening July

13-15.

The Federated Youth and the youth from other churches of this

area are planning a three day out door event called the Awakening,

happening July 13, 14, and 15 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Albion Park. There's going to be

great activities, giveaways, music, fun and a rock concert. The goal of this three day event is to

share the gospel with the youth of our community in the hope that they will come to the life

saving knowledge of Jesus.

The second part of disciple making is growing in the likeness of Christ. We have two

great opportunities to do that this summer. First, Sunday school. All students going into 7th

thru 12th grade are welcome to join us in the elevator room starting June 25. Second, is a

Bible study that will meet together for a study in the word and then spend some time hanging

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch… By Joseph Preston

If you came to the Open House, you may have noticed the first of three new lights for the entrance driveway and parking lot. All three are now installed, along with a light for the main entrance sign. We’ve also built some benches for the pool area, added a tetherball near octaball, repaired a variety of things around the property (doors, gators, fences, hay equipment, pumps, drainage, etc.), and continued to enhance the usefulness and beauty of the facility and property at WLD Ranch. In the midst of repairs and upgrades and enhancements for the facility, we continue to serve guest groups. From May 1st through the beginning of summer camp, we will see over 2000 guests in various programs such as weekend retreats, horse programs, and school field days. I usually describe this time of year as a whirlwind and it is certainly that right now! In the midst of the busyness of this season, as we build improvements and prepare for the summer, I like to remember that building lives is what we are doing. The buildings, property, programs, horses, and all the other “things” and “tasks” that make up camp ministry are here to be used to touch people’s lives with the truth of Jesus. This past month, we had the privilege of coming alongside several church groups and supporting them as they built connections with each other and strengthened their walk with Christ. On a couple weekends, Malcolm shared a devotion with Girl Scout groups and in his typical style he shared his testimony of coming to Christ, challenging the kids (and adults) that they don’t have to wait until they are older to come to Jesus. Through the Field Days, our staff demonstrated the love of Christ through how they treated the school students on the challenge course and in the horse arena. As we finished up spring horse lessons, we were able to share with our students biblical truths that can impact their lives. All of these are different ways we are building lives, not things. Our direct impact on lives varies with the different kinds of opportunities we have, but our mission and Wayne’s dream continue to influence the decisions we make about how to do camp ministry. Camp ministry needs a place and programs to be camp, and we will continue to be good stewards of these resources – all so that we can continue to guide campers and guests to Jesus as the truth in life.

News from Archangelsk Bible Church, Archangelsk, Russia by Rich Ring

Thank you for praying for the Archangelsk Bible Church. Pastor Andrew has asked me to write this for the Newsletter as he is very busy working with other pastors of the region to build a house for a pastor & family about 600 kilometers south of Archangelsk. As assistant Bishop to the Archangelsk (State) Region, Pastor Andrew wants to encourage the churches and has encouraged his own people to use their vacation to visit and encourage different churches. The men of the ABC church are meeting weekly to encourage each other with accountability. The ladies also meet weekly for Bible Study and prayer. Please pray that God would raise up a children's leader for the church, to organize and minister to the children. Continue to pray for God's leading regarding the church building. Pray that God would send someone with authority to get legal permission and “know-how” needed to rebuild the steps. The ABC and the local Baptist church desire to co-organize a children's camp this summer. Please pray for this endeavor. Pray for God's leading and protection and that the children will grow in the truth and knowledge of Him Who loves them and gave His only Son for them. I would ask you to pray for Pastor Andrew and his family. Pray that God will give Him wisdom and strength and that He will be sensitive to God's leading, not to stretch himself too thin. I praise God for all He has done and is doing in His church and for your prayers. "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:3-6)

May Jesus Christ be Praised!
