EFMP-FS Announcements
Happy New Year!!!
Wow! Another year, come and gone already. Where did the time go?”
you ask yourself while putting up the decorations. As you reminisce
about the successes and challenges of 2017, you think how nice it will
be to wipe the slate clean and start a new year filled with bright possi-
bilities. We want to encourage you with planning, realistic expecta-
tions and a positive attitude, 2018 can and will be a great year!
For those of you that joined us for the December Breakfast with Santa
workshop, thank you! I think the event was well received and enjoyed
by all. We’ve posted a few pics inside this issue.
We are looking forward to another amazing year. We try each year to
request] and offer a variety of EFMP camps. This year I think we’ve
got something for everyone!! We we’re approved for 6 EFMP camps;
Project Outwild, Escape 60, Quarterly Sensory Friendly Movies,
Paintball with Pops, Mammas in Pajamas Paint Party, and a Surf
Camp. We’ve posted the dates and time frames of these camps inside
this issue.
As we move forward we want you to know we are always open to
your feedback, suggestions to improve, change or modify our events
to increase likelihood of your families success as well as your positive
experiences and successes attending EFMP-FS programs.

How Can EFMP Respite Child Care Help My Family?
Without family support it is often hard to trust someone to take care of the children, especially
the children with exceptional needs. EFMP Respite Child Care partner agencies train and
screen all providers so families can rest assured their children are getting the care they need
while families get a much needed break.
What Are Ways I Can Use Respite Care?
Take time for a walk, go to the commissary without children, take a nap, or see a friend
while a well-trained provider cares for the children.
Go for a date with your spouse or significant other
Have one-on-one time with one individual child while brothers or sisters receive Respite
Child Care
Attend a support group
Relax at home in a room away or near the Respite
Child Caregiver
Go for coffee with friends or alone
Read a book, magazine or newspaper
Go to the library
Go for a workout
Attend a book club or other hobby activities
Work at home in another room
Attend EFMP Events with some additional support of your Respite Care provider.
How do I apply for Air Force Respite Child Care?
Contact EFMP-FS office to obtain additional information and a copy of the Respite Care Verifi-
cation Form. Then call Child Care Aware of America at 1-800-424-2246, Option 6, then Option
3, then option 1.
A parent/guardian AND a Medical Professional that knows
your child well completes the Verification Statement for each
Exceptional Family Member child. Return this form to Child
Care Aware of America WITHIN 30 days of the medical pro-
fessional's signature. Child Care Aware® of America will con-
nect the Airman’s family to the local participating agency. The
agency will work individually with each family to complete the
necessary application and assist with connecting the family to
a local respite child care provider who will meet their needs.
Parenting is a hard job. Every parent can benefit from a break. Caring for children with
developmental delays, behavior problems or disabilities presents challenges that can test
the best of parents. Parents with an exceptional family member (EFM) need rest periods
and down time!!! This is where EFMP Respite Care can help!
