Who is a teacher?A great teacher is someone who is constantly in the

process of learning themselves.

A teacher is someone not only with great knowledge

of people, places and events, but how it all comestogether.

A teacher brings philosophy, psychology, math,science and language together to give a three

dimensional perspective on the subject at hand. Not only the what and the where, but the why.

A person who learns something new every day andcan explain it to others is a teacher.

Who is a teacher? In its broadest sense, a teacher is a person or an

experience that has left a mark in our lives.

They have been examples for us as we journey throughthe stages of life from the moment we first opened oureyes to witness the world around us until our very lastbreath in our golden days.

Who is a student?Astudent is a person that learns and obtains

education from an instructor.

A person formally engaged in learning, especially oneenrolled in a school or college or any person whostudies, investigates, or examines.

The above definitions are very common; but true.

Learning is a continuous process and it goes on till ourlast breath. Hence, one need not be enrolled in anyorganization to be a student.

There is no age to learn.

Characteristics of a good student They attend class regularly and on time.

They do extra credit assignments when they are available.

Their assignments are done neatly.

They turn in all assignments.

If they feel they need extra help, they let their teacherknow.

They pay attention in class and are courteous and polite. They speak up in class.

They learn to identify what needs to be studied in greatestdetail.

They see their teachers before and after class.

They learn to schedule enough for homework. They enjoy being successful students.

If they do have to miss classes, they find out what theymissed and make sure they understand all that was

covered. They know they are responsible for their own success.

Rapport b/w teachers and students The student-teacher rapport plays a vital role in the

process of teaching and learning.

This rapport is achieved only when both-the teacherand student- possess the above qualities.

Also, the student-teacher ratio in the classroom has animportant role.

In olden days, the teacher-student relationship-alsoknown as theguru-shishya parampara was prominent.

There was a distinct line between the teacher and thestudent.

Rapport (continued) This, however, has changed over the years.

The teacher, nowadays, is considered more as a friend.

(or so it should be.) But all said, the above mentioned qualities have to be

imbibed by the teacher and the student for moreeffective learning.
