HRM STAFF SPOTLIGHT Name: Belinda Doyle
Hometown: Geismar, LA
Educa on: Louisiana State University – BIS Spring 2013 (an cipated)
What do you do in your department, including job
tle and area?
I am an HR Specialist in the Benefits Service Center within the Office of Human Resource Management. I am responsible for cer fying leave balances and ques onable years of service to the re rement systems for current and former employees, processing re rement system requests for current and former employees, and counseling employees on DROP and/or re rement with LASERS re rement system.
How long have you been with LSU?
14 years
What is the strangest thing you’ve ever run across in your HR career?
In retrospect, I must say having been asked by a re ree for permission to be named in his obituary. As unusual as the request seemed at the me, I now embrace it as an honor (realizing how monumental my assistance proved to be to this individual).
What do you like most about working at LSU?
I enjoy the energy that comes from facilita ng new employee orienta ons. I am definitely a people‐person! So simply being in a room with people energizes me and also inundates me with such a sense of purpose. For instance, I love mee ng with an employee who has just reached his or her re rement/ DROP eligibility. It is so exci ng to share in such a special moment with someone when that individual has reached this point in his or her career.
Tell us something interes ng about yourself.
I gave birth to my first child, Aubrey Elle, in March at age 42! Also, following years of pursing an undergraduate degree, I am poised to obtain a Bachelor’s degree next year. Having accomplished these two feats, I encourage individuals to vigorously pursue his or her dreams, because anything is possible!
