IntroViral-Relating to or involving an image, video, piece of information, etc., that is circulated rapidly and widely from one Internet user to another.Internet fame, and going viral can be one of the best things to happen to someones career. Weather you are a small business owner selling creative new clothes, an aspiring director, a future photographer, or a young songwriter, going viral can bring your content or brand to a worldwide audience supplying you with endless business and opportunities. Now we all have dreams and ideas, but we can't spend 40 years promoting ourselves. How great would it be if you could just blow up overnight? One day you are living a normal life, and the next you are the most well known musician, photographer, writer, or director in your area, state, country, or even worldwide. To go viral you need originality and quality, a communication network, relevance, and timing. Im going to break down for you these four key things you need to make internet fame a reality, but to achieve this goal you need passion, hard work, and focus. If you approach this with an Im only doing this because the eBook says to, but I don't have the drive to commit, or do any extra work mentality, then you won't find the success you desire.

Originality and Content Quality

If youre content is unoriginal or poor in quality then sorry to say it isnt going anywhere. Originality itself is vital for anything to get the slightest recognition. Lets put it this way. No one wants to wear knock off brands, or watch a recycled predictable movie. Its the same with YouTube videos, songs, and articles. Would you rather watch an original skit, or a remake? Would you rather hear a new song or someone singing a cover to a song you have heard thousands of times? Originality can go a long way especially on the internet where millions of content is uploaded daily. So first things first come up with a never before seen, or heard idea. Obviously this is easier said than done but once you have brainstormed an idea we move on to quality. If you are making a song the audio quality is vital, since there are no visuals to distract us. While interviewing a social media marketing professional from Denizens I learned that the ideal song time for the average listener is two minutes and forty two seconds. When writing the song try to keep it close to there because in todays society attention span is a growing problem. You should also convert your music to 432 Hz because scientists have discovered this is mathematically consistent with the patterns of the universe. Most songs are in 440 Hz but universe is said to vibrate at 432 Hz so aligning your music with the universe will magnify your sense and connection to nature. While recording vocals make sure to use a quality microphone, and proper sound treatment so you won't get any unwanted hissing, popping, or clipping. When posting your song to the internet make sure to include an unforgettable title and cover picture, because that alone could draw someone in. When writing an article or blog post keep the headline close to six words and the actual content should be no longer than seven minutes. (About 1,600 words) When shooting videos always try to shoot in the highest possible quality. Keep your videos around three minutes, and we must be able to understand the audio. For example if you are filming on a windy day, and you can't hear anything make sure to add subtitles. Your title should headline exactly what is happening in the video. Joel (the professional I interviewed) told me that you get more views when people know what to expect. So if you have a video of a kid doing a backflip title it Backflip instead of Cool, or Trick. These little tips could increase your chance of recognition and going viral drastically. Lets be honest, who really wants to watch an unoriginal, poorly executed video?

Contacts/CommunicationWe have all heard the quote its not what you know, its who you know. This couldn't be any truer. You need good connections to get your content seen by millions of people, and go viral. Think about it this way. You could post the greatest video ever to YouTube, but without the right people to share it to it will just get lost in the other three hundred hours of content that is uploaded each minute. A good set of contacts can help give you an early boost. For example If I were to post a new song to Sound cloud immediately after I would share it with all my Facebook friends, Twitter followers, Google+ followers, Tumblr followers, and any other social media website. This will give it an immediate first push witch could lead to a domino effect depending on how well you followed the first step of originality and content quality, but it is not guaranteed. For example If you followed my steps and made an almost three minute song with a good title and image it could attract the attention of followers from one of your social media pages. Depending on the originality and quality of the content this could cause your followers to share it with their followers, and their followers to share it with their followers, and so on and so forth until it spreads like wildfire. Ideally you would want to catch the attention of someone who is more popular than you on social media. This way they pick up on your content they could share it with a larger number of people. One big example of this is the sudden fame of Justin Bieber. A man named Scooter Braun, who was able to share it with Usher, noticed Justin Biebers videos. In the same domino effect that I mentioned above Justin Bieber was discovered. While reading Malcolm Gladwells The Tipping Point I learned about people named Mavens. Mavens are experts who pass their knowledge on to other people. So Scooter Braun was a Maven who passed his knowledge of Justin Bieber on to Usher, which resulted in instant fame. This may seem easier said than done but If you could get enough social media shares to get your content seen by a Maven then you are almost guaranteed to go viral. I remember watching one video where a man spent three minutes filming a double rainbow and contemplating its meaning. That video was stealthily shared around the internet for a while never reaching a significant amount of views. It did catch the attention of Maven Jimmy Kimmel though, which lead him to tweet it to all of his followers. This caused the video to become a viral sensation instantly. A Maven getting a hold of your content could be the best thing to happen to you so I suggest sharing your media in as many places as possible.

Relevance and TrendsIs your content out dated, or out of style? If it is 2015 and you are still making remixes to Tay Zondays Chocolate Rain then yes, yes it is. Every day new concepts, words, themes, and ideas start trending. If you could find some way to incorporate the latest trends into your content this could add a boost of views. For example if you are filming around the time of the world cup a videos about soccer, or soccer fans will attract more views. If some disaster has shaken the nation it might be in your best interest to write a song about the disaster. This has to do with your timing. Timing is key when responding to any event. You always want to be one of the first to make a response to any event whether it be a song, video, picture, or article. This is because you want to reach people while it is still fresh in their minds, and whatever event you are feeding off of is still relevant. Trends are helpful and all but if you dont if you dont want to follow a trend you're must make your video a big deal. This way you start the trend yourself. In 2012 Jason Russell successfully went viral by making a BIG DEAL. He filmed a thirty-minute documentary on stopping the leader of the Lord Resistance Army Joseph Kony. This started Stop Kony which erupted into one of the biggest trends of 2012. Now big deals like these only happen once in a blue moon but that shouldn't stop you from trying to create your own trends.

ClosingIn conclusion even though viral songs, pictures, videos, and articles, may seem like lucky phenomenons steps and research back them. Following the proper steps can bring you the same fame and attention that Justin Bieber, Freddie Wong, Pewdiepie, and many others have received, and have made successful careers out of. Social media is one of the biggest most used resources out today, so it would only make sense to use it to your advantage to further your career/business, and go viral.
