To keep my ancillary products conventional I had to stick to the stereotypes and conventions of existing products. For example I used low key lighting which is conventional as it connotes anonymity and conceals the truth among shadows, with black also being a representative for evil hence darkness being portrayed as a negative in many films due to its horror stigma. Also on my film poster I chose to keep the layout conventional to existing products so that people would know what the poster is advertising as this layout Is common to almost every film poster. The large title is in a bold serif font in white which contrasts with the dark black low key background. These colours used are conventional to this style and genre as the white represents fear similar to when a person turns pale after a fright, also white appears ghostly which again links to horror. My poster features a credit block which states everybody featured in producing, acting and distributing the film itself which is key on every film poster as it gives extra detail and can be used to appeal to the audience if well known actors are used. This helped to keep my horror film poster conventional. As you can see my film poster is very similar to One Missed Child promotional poster following a similar layout and even image type with my model having her mouth covered to suggest secrecy and abduction.

For my film magazine I attempted again to remain conventional to a film magazine layout featuring one main image. This image is a girl with her mouth taped up which suggests something has happened to her in a negative way linking directly to themes of the horror genre sticking to conventions of mis en scene, this is linked to this cover of EMPIRE magazine where Harry Potter is covered in blood which also acts as a signifier of horror helping relate back to horror. I chose to do my cover in a black and white image which helps to stick with the conventions of the genre as the black is enhanced in a monochrome effect helping represent the horror, this also works well for the red typography to stand out against the background. I chose red font as the red represents blood which is a signifier of pain and again conventional to the horror genre especially after the disequilibrium has occurred. The layout of my magazine is highly similar to a regular film magazine with one large masthead at the top to title the magazine, with sub stories down the left hand side to show what is featured in this issue.
